Cheng Yu and Lars Martinsson are also given mentions in the book related to this Boba Fett work

In "Return of the Jedi," you can see the original principal photography shot versus the pickup shot moments later by looking at the details

It's likely Glenn Randall Jr. did the original #BobaFett stunt (top) and it's confirmed Louis Friedman did the pickup shot (bottom) at a different location, where he rises back up

40 years ago today, "Return of the Jedi" premiered in theaters

George Lucas on the DVD commentary: "[H]ad I known he was going to turn into such a popular character, I probably would've made it a little bit more exciting. Boba Fett was just another one of the minions, another one of the bounty hunters and bad guys. But, he became such a favorite of everybody's. For having such a small part, he had a very large presence. And now that his history has been told in the [prequel] trilogy, it makes it even more of a misstep that we wouldn't make more out of the event of his defeat, because most people don't believe he died anyway. I had contemplated putting in that extra shot in where he climbs out of the hole, but you know I figure that's... it doesn't quite fit in the end."

Before the cameras rolled on #BobaFett actor Jeremy Bulloch in "Return of the Jedi" (shown top center in a candid moment circa 1982), at least three other stand-ins were on set in his place: Quentin Pierre, Roy Beck, and Jack Dearlove

As noted on various call sheets for the original film, well documented when they go up for auction by Prop Store, these actors were stand-ins for several characters and even on screen, like Quentin was one of the Bespin guards escorting Solo in Carbonite for Fett in "Empire"

Is that #BobaFett's damaged "ROTJ" jetpack on The Mandalorian's speeder?

Fett's more colorful jetpack would also have to be damaged, consistent with the events of "Return of the Jedi." In the current canon, Boba Fett only fell into the Sarlacc and is neither dead nor alive. He's rumored to return in Season 2, but at this point it's not officially confirmed.

As media, we have access to a 2.2gb ProRes master of the trailer, versus the 24mb YouTube file, allowing us less compressed frames to put this together. The still frames are also sharpened, to compete with all the motion blur in the actual shot.

Helmet nod to bhower1138 (Twitter) for sharing this observation and BestOfFett (Twitter) for its signal boost.

Did you know they added #BobaFett's legs for this 1983 "Return of the Jedi" action figure cardback art?

Shown on the sides are the Kenner and the Palitoy tri-logo toys courtesy of Hake's Auctions, with the popular official publicity photo in the middle - a slightly different moment (or the blaster was moved upward?) undoubtedly taken at the same focal length and crop, likely by Ralph Nelson Jr.

Note the smudginess and the super long cape, which on the real costume ends around his knees.

"It's about a bounty hunter, after Return of the Jedi... It's all new characters... I'm actually writing part of the second season now."

Jon Favreau spoke about his Disney+ series, #TheMandalorian, with Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 11th.

Bonus: Before Jon showed his "Boba Feet" Stance socks, which was awesome, Jimmy said Boba Fett was a Mandalorian -- but in the current canon this is not correct, as he just wears Mandalorian armor. Jimmy also says "may he rest in peace," but also in the current canon he's neither dead nor alive.

Season 2 for the show was already confirmed by Fantha Tracks, who spoke with Lucasfilm's Doug Chiang who first let the news out on day one of Celebration Chicago (April 12th).

The Sideshow Collectibles Premium Format "Return of the Jedi" #BobaFett figure is now available for pre-order: http://bit.ly/SideshowPremiumJediFettExclusive

While the 20" prototype shown here has a great look, the price tag is $100 higher than the Premium Format "Empire" Fett and the gap between the neck and chest armor is too far apart.

Thoughts?

Even though these Return of the Jedi weeklies were magazine-style collections of #Marvel #StarWars comics released in the U.K. in the 80s, they sometimes went for photographic covers rather than your typical illustrations.

You knew you were in for an extra good time if they flipped Fett... or if hula hoops and BMX bikes are your thing.

The 2017 LEGO Desert Skiff Escape (right) set was looking mostly like a do-over of the 2012 Desert Skiff set, but the #BobaFett minifigure appears to have a bunch of "Return of the Jedi" updates: increased armor damage, grey flight suit, yellow gloves/hands, and re-designed ammo belt.

Other observations: it's got the same generation of printing as the 2015 UCS Fett, and we'll have to keep on dreaming for that "Jedi" jetpack to have the proper colors.

This shot comes during Sy Snootles' solo and before both the flirtation with Jabba's Dancers (in the Special Edition only) and the arrival of Boushh (aka Princess Leia in disguise).

When Boussh ups the ante with a thermal detonator, we return to this original camera angle three times in a row but in a "reversed" or "flipped" film negative which maintains an eyeline match with Boushh for the continuity of the edit.

#TriviaTuesday: "The Scavenger" by Legacy Effects, which sold at auction for $17,209.89, with all proceeds going to the Make-a-Wish foundation.

Made for the As You Wish Helmet Project of 2012, this studio imagined that "an indigenous lifeform of Tatooine finds #BobaFett's helmet at the Great Pit of Carkoon and repurposes it as his shell."

George Lucas himself saw this among other custom helmets at #StarWars Celebration VI, where he said aloud that this should be called "The Survivior" because at the time he believed Boba Fett didn't die in the Sarlacc.

#FettFriday: #BobaFett riding a Speeder Bike on Endor, as seen in "From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga." Pictured here (bottom center) is Dennis Muren and Joe Johnston testing out the visual effects shots for the speeder bike scene in "Return of the Jedi." The documentary, released in late 1983, showed how the large Kenner Boba Fett action figure from 1980 was used a stand-in for testing out the miniature effect.

#FettFriday: Concept art for #BobaFett's ship, Slave I, sketched in 1979 by Nilo Rodis-Jamero, who was instrumental in its design.

Nilo was the assistant art director and visual effects creator on "The Empire Strikes Back" and costume designer on "Return of the Jedi." This sketch was most recently re-published in "The Making of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" (2010).

"Joe Johnston showed me some of the ideas he had for Boba Fett, and I remember asking myself what his spaceship would look like. I remember seeing a radar dish and stopping to sketch it very quickly to see if I could get something out of it. The original design I had was round, but when you looked at it from the side, it became elliptical. For some reason, when I drew it, George thought it was elliptical, so that's what it became. When we were building the ship at ILM, somebody looked at street lamps and pointed out that they look like Boba's ship. So everyone began to think that was where I got the idea for the design."

#BobaFett's "Empire" jet backpack (left) and "Jedi" variant (right). The photo featuring the green jet pack was taken on the set circa 1980 and the photo of the teal/yellow/red/white jet pack was published in the Star Wars Visual Dictionary (1998), which also highlighted several of its features: a missile, missile boost charge, missile launcher, missile targeting rangefinder, stabilizing gyro, fuel tank, directional servo, activation button, and directional exhaust nozzles.

#ThrowbackThursday: #BobaFett appeared on Mos Eisley in Docking Bay 94 for a few moments alongside Jabba the Hutt, Han Solo, and the Millennium Falcon.

Some trivia: Fett's left shoulder is mysteriously missing its usual symbol; the armor colors more so resembles "Jedi" rather than "Empire," even though that would be out of order (unless Fett perhaps carries multiple sets of armor with him in the cargo hold); and, making the rounds again online, this appearance would connect the possibility that Fett actually torched Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, later warranting Darth Vader's comment to Fett later on, "no disintegrations" (this time).
