Timeline

  • Born: Jango Fett (66 BBY)
  • 34 Years Old: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (32 or 31.5 BBY)
  • 44 Years Old: Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (22 BBY)

Overview

Jango Fett is the father of Boba Fett, who himself is actually an unaltered clone of the senior Fett. Jango was once an innocent farm boy on the colony planet of Concord Dawn until his family was murdered by a band of ruthless mercenaries calling themselves The Death Watch. Jango was saved by the Mandalorian's that his family had been aiding and raised by their leader, Jaster Mereel.

Jango later took over the reigns of leadership when Mereel was killed in an ambush by The Death Watch. Jango would later avenge his leader/adopted father's death but that still could not prepare him for the tragedy that would befall him when his entire group, save for himself, was destroyed by a band of Jedi led by a young Count Dooku. Dooku, himself, would later recruit Jango many years later to be the template for the Republic's Clone Soldiers.

In the years following the annihilation of his Mandalorian brother's, Jango earned his living as a formidable bounty hunter. His talent for tracking down the Galaxies most wanted would later be passed on to his son Boba, who would later earn a reputation more widely known and feared than Jango's.

Costume and Props

Jango Fett's helmet and overall look is known for being grey with blue around the helmet.

Jango used WESTAR-34 blasters, which he held in leather holsters.

With the battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Kamino, Jango Fett used a Mitrinomon Z-6 jetpack. This is the same kind of jetpack that Boba Fett used in Return of the Jedi, although this one was clean rather than well-worn. The beacon light was the same on both.

On Geonosis, during the arena battle, he used a Merr-Sonn JT-12 jetpack.

On his wrists were gauntlets, just like Boba Fett. One had the flamethrower we saw in the film. Under these are gloves.

On top of his flightsuit was also a flak vest.

Jango's shoulder armor, chest armor, back armor, codpiece, and thigh armor are silver and weathered, worn over the flightsuit. Around his waist was a leather ammo belt and leather girth belt.

His knee armor is silver and has darts on the sides, just like Boba Fett.

His lower leg armor went on top of the flight suit, like shin guards.

Jango's footware was in fact Kenneth Cole Pit Crew men's boots, along with foot armor (boot caps) on top.

Lines

Jango Fett has these lines in Attack of the Clones according to the screenplay. We make notes where the line changes in the final film.

Scene 1

  • We'll have to try something more subtle this time, Zam. My client is getting impatient.
  • Take these. Be careful. They're very poisonous.
  • Zam, there can be no mistakes this time.

Scene 2

  • Fairly.
  • That right?
  • I'm just a simple man, trying to make my way in the universe, Master Jedi.
    • Note: "Master Jedi" was excluded from the cut, but written in the script.
  • Once or twice.
  • Possibly...
  • (in Huttese) Boba, close the door.
  • Master who?
  • Never heard of him.
  • I was recruited by a man called Darth Tyranus on one of the moons of Bogden.
  • Do you like your army?
  • They'll do their job well, I'll guarantee that.
  • Always a pleasure to meet a Jedi.
  • Pack your things. We're leaving.

Scene 3

  • Boba, get on board.
  • Scene 4

    • Nearly there, son.
    • He must have put a homing device on our hull during the fight... We'll fix it! Hang on, son! We'll move into the asteroid field. He won't be able to follow us there. If he does, we'll leave him a couple of surprises.
    • He must have gone on toward the surface.
    • Hang on!
    • Stay calm, son. We'll be fine. That Jedi won't be able to follow us through this.
    • He doesn't seem to be able to take a hint.

    Scene 5

    • We'll just have to finish him.
    • We won't see him again.

    Scene 6

  • Take them away.
