"There were no problems bringing Fett out of retirement. He was one of the most popular characters and, as you say, George always regretted killing him off. So it was simply a question of saying he was 'too indigestible' for the Sarlacc. That's something of a joke, of course. But it was very easy to imagine, especially considering his weaponry and Mandalorian rocket pack.
