How Exactly Did Boba Fett Escape? New Disney Committee To Decide What's Canon -- And Beyond

Expect a re-launch of the Star Wars universe — according to Disney’s Lucasfilm — for 2015. Hand-in-hand with Disney’s Marvel helming the comic book account, there’s a new keeper of records.

For example, how did Boba Fett escape? There have been several stories of how Boba Fett got out of the Sarlacc. Jawas, Dengar, and other storylines from comics and books expanded the universe. Now, it appears things will be more exact.

In case you don’t yet know the term “canon,” for fiction it refers to what is official.

Here’s an excerpt from io9:

The Expanded Universe as we knew it will soon be no more. Disney has created a special committee whose job it will be to figure out what is and isn’t part of a complete Star Wars canon — meaning all the EU material created over the years will be judged, and either become official or deemed invalid.

Furthermore, this means at some point all new Star Wars spin-offs will matter, because they will all be official. I don’t know how I feel about that.

The Story Group, as its called, includes Leland Chee, who has been Lucasfilm’s “Keeper of the Holocron,” the in-house database of everything Star Wars.

More investigation care of The Hollywood Reporter:

Leland Chee, who works with Lucasfilm’s story group, has been tweeting about changes to the way that Lucasfilm approaches Star Wars canon in the future. “Star Wars Canon is now determined by the Lucasfilm Story Group which [Pablo Hidalgo] and I are both a part of,” Chee tweeted on Sunday.
