Re: RPG-Superhumans

Haze watched Flame disappear and knew that she had to see Oni. Knowing that Sunbright was there made things seem clearer and she was able to focus her mind. She stood with ease now, knowing that she could control the images in her mind for now.

It seemed that they had a visitor. Haze closed the doors on Jericho and sealed them with her power. She turned to Chromium. "I suggest we depart before we have to interact with our unwanted guest."

Re: RPG-Superhumans

"This isn't good. I did not wish the location of my dwelling known to many people. But so be it. We must launch an assault on Oni's base once again. However we will most definitely need more help. We going to gather as many heroes as possible and basically do what Oni did with the villains and recruit them. I will have my own calling card." Chromium said to Haze in a whisper so Jericho didnt hear. They walked off the ledge and flew side by side, Chromium on the lookout for other villains.

"Where do you suggest we should start first? I am new here so I dont know where many of the heroes may be located." Chromium asked Haze and he flew in closer so they could talk over the sound of the wind.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

"Hmm," Haze started "Since I'm neutral it'll be harder to get assistance. Jack might help. I could ask Darklight since he's probably concerned about Starbright. Flame may even help if it's not obvious that he's doing so."

Haze pointed downward. "I'm pretty sure that's Darklight's home, we can try there first."

Oni was getting impatient. He handed Starbright her phone.

"Call Haze." He told her. "Tell her you're okay."

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Haze had to hold onto Chromium to fly, she couldn't do it on her own. She realised that she was starting to get used to his bizarre touch. She couldn't explain it but her telekinesis could sense the difference in him. Her mind was diverted as she heard her phone ring. Normally she wouldn't have carried her phone on her, but since Starbright's disappearance she'd decided to.

"Can we land?" Haze asked as she retrieved her phone with her free hand.

Chromium guided them to a rooftop and Haze answered the call, "Hello?" She asked although she saw it was Starbright's number.

"Hey cuz, it's me." Said Starbright.

"Where are you?" Haze said immediately.

"I'm at Oni's." Starbright informed her with an odd note.

Suddenly Oni was on the phone, "Hello there Haze. You cousin needs to go home. Do you think you could come pick her up?"

Haze looked at Chromium and touched his arm and tried to communicate with him but it didn't work this time. "Yes I can pick her up." Haze told Oni.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

"Oh, hello Flame. Meet Starbright. Starbright, Flame. This is my right-hand man, the Lewis to my Clark, the Abbot to my Costello, the Lyndon Johnson to my JFK. Flame, don't be alarmed, I've decided to let the dear girl go. And it's okay, that you couldn't find Haze, she's on her way to pick the little girl up. By the by, Star, would you like something to drink whiely ou wait for the designated driver?"

"Some water will be fine."

Oni got Starbright a bottle of water from his cooler, passing by Voidhunter who was watching a movie on Pay Per View, some sort of Greek Tragedy made into a film.

"This good enough?"

"Yes, thank you."

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Jack was shaken.  He had just about been killed by someone who was obviously not human.  And now one of his best friends was missing.  And he noticed when that happened as he didn't have very many.
"Man, Sunscald I'm bushed.  Nearly getting killed does that to you.  I should know."  Jack followed Sunburn down to the mall entrance where it appeared someone had entered and exited the mall in a vehicle.

"Ooh, subtle.  Any clues Sunspot?"

((Hey Fett_II, we kind of need an update on Darklight.  Or Mando Assassin for that matter.  A location or something would be nice.))

Re: RPG-Superhumans

((Yeah, as I have no idea where Altair is taking Darklight, I'm not gonna be able to say much of anything for him...So Voidhunter it'll hafta be until then.))

Voidhunter turned off the TV.  It felt so good to be free once more.  And it was all thanks to those three villains, led by the one called Oni.  He had heard of Oni before; a name circulating in the underworld, but nothing more.  He had always admired and respected the achievements of the man, and meeting him in person hadn't changed any of that; merely enhanced it.  However, Oni did have one fault; he was too much of a caring person.  He couldn't kill when the time called him to.  It didn't matter any longer.  Voidhunter was free, and when he found Darklight, the gold-caped-bufoon would finally taste the bitter flavour of oblivion.  The thought made him smile.
He turned to face Oni, Starbright, and the dragon-man, who Oni called Flame.  He let his body melt into the darkness that inhabited the corners of the room, blending in until he was nothing more than part of the shadow; his body as material as the darkness he dwelled in.  He had to admit, if in case he was ever called to assassination once more, he would enjoy it immensely.  His power was essentially crafted for killing.  He couldn't help it, and burst out in quiet laughter, leting his gaze play over the gathering of villains and reluctant pawns.  "This oughtta be good," he thought to himself.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

" Not yet, Bruce Lee."  Sunburn replied to Jack.  This was really annoying.  Darklight called him all the way in Mission City, telling him he needed help, then welcomed him to his home, and THEN went to an incident at the mall being the big time hero, and finally, disappears in the middle of the chaos.....leaving Sunburn and Jack wondering what to do.  What a great guy.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

"Excuse me? Was that Oni?" Chromium inquired. He looked down at Haze's hand on his arm. He was realizing that no telepathic powers could penetrate his metal. This might be a problem later on. She tried to speak to him just then but she couldn't penetrate his metal skin.

"Also, for future use, if you need to speak to me telepathically again by touching me, simply place your hand on my arm or where ever possible and I will clear that area of the metal and reveal my skin. That way we can communicate telepathically if necessary. Now, about Oni, do you mean to tell me that he asked to pick up Starbright at his base?"

Re: RPG-Superhumans

The van was just reaching city limits. It turned off the road, and went off into what appeared to be nowhere. Ten minutes later, the van pulled into a parking lot for a cement mixing company. Driving around the building, the van pulled into a desolate area, and stopped. But the journey wasn't over. Almost immediately after stopping, the van was lowered into an underground area. There, it continued its venture. After entering a room, the van had reached its destination. Out of the driver's seat came a man dressed in white, with a matching hood to cover most of his face. Three guards closed the doors to the room. One guard got in the driver's seat, while the other two opened the back door and pulled out the person known as Darklight. The van took off, and Darklight was wrapped in chains. His body was moved to a table, strapped down, while the man known as Altair was being consulted by the Elder Assassins of the Order.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Darklight awoke, and found himself tied down by chains to a hard and uncomfortable table.  He could't move, and all that he COULD do was wait for someone to enter, and see what the whole big deal was.  Maybe they had the wrong guy?  Not likely; not many people walked around wearing a black-and-gold costume like his.  But why would anyone want to take him...well, besides the legions of villains that he had antagonized over the years...but still!  He sighed, and waited for someone to enter the room, and supply some answers to him.  He had a feeling he would be waiting for a very long time.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Haze nodded, "Thanks for the tip. Yes that was Oni. He wants me to pick up Starbright. I don't understand, there must be more to it then he's letting on."

"I'd suggest so," Chromium replied. "We should get back up."

Haze shook her head, "No I don't think so. I think that will only end badly. Oni wanted me to side with him, I can be convincing if need be. Besides I think Flame would assist me provided he was subtle and didn't distinctly betray Oni."

"You seem to trust Flame an awful lot." Chromium pointed out.

"It's strange but I feel a connection to him, I can't quite explain it." Haze admitted. "Anyway come with me, but stay hidden. At least I know that Vandal should be under control."

Re: RPG-Superhumans

"Stay hidden? I think I know just the think to keep me hidden AND close enough to protect you at any time." Chromium said to Haze as they flew to Oni's hideout. She gave him a skeptical look but didn't say anything. When they arrived Chromium landed a little ways off from Harry's so they weren't seen yet. Haze let go of Chromium and asked him
"So what exactly do you want to do to stay hidden?"
Chromium said nothing, simply exhaled slowly and relaxed his body again. He began to compress himself to a very small size. Eventually he was a floating strip of metal about 2 inches thick. He floated over to Haze, who was watching in shock the whole time, and wrapped himself around her waist. He took the shape of a plate belt. His face formed on the front of the belt and spoke to Haze.
"Now normally, I would weigh about 200 or probably more pounds. I simply compressed myself, I didn't take off any weight. However, I'll be somewhat hovering so i'll still be on your waist looking like a belt, yet I wont weigh anything really. Alright Haze, good luck. Don't get us killed."
With that the face melted back into the belt and Chromium said nothing more.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Two people entered the room. Altair, and an older hooded man. This was one of the Elder Assassins that governed the Order. Both of them had smiles on their face that scared even Darklight.

"Hello there, Darklight. You might not remember me in this age, but I was one of the Assassins who tried to kill you almost 40 years ago. My apprentice, Altair, has done quite a job in capturing you, so that we could ensure you would no longer be a threat to the world. Guards, leave us."

"Yes, elder."

The guards left, and only three men remained in the room. What happened after, was kept in complete secrecy from everyone outside the room except the other Elders.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Haze was very impressed with Chromium's abilities. She walked the rest of the way to Oni's bar. This time Flame was waiting for her. Haze smiled lopsidedly as she saw the bikers visibly move away from her.

Hi Flame, what's Oni up to? Haze asked Flame privately.

Flame shrugged, Not sure, but he wants to win you over. I think you impressed him with your display back in the alley.

Haze decided she better say something out loud before people thought they were odd. "So Flame, where to?"

Flame took Haze down to Oni's base, where Oni held Starbright, completely unbound.

"Well, Starbright, looks like your designated driver finally arrived. Off you go then." He said, allowing Starbright to run over to her cousin.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Sunburn was about to snap.  Whoever or whatever had taken Darklight had been pretty elusive except for the big hole in the mall wall, and THAT even didn't give him any clues.  So, he decided to look around the hole one last time.  Like the last few times he looked, Sunburn found no clues until he found a small, somewhat burned piece of paper.  Upon closer inspection, the paper read: " Our investigations upon looking into the possiblity of a gang of assassins and metahumans have revealed a list of possible hideouts....."  Sunburn read through the list of possible HQ's, there was at least 18 different possibilities ( the man had very neat and small printing).  The paper had a SWAT logo on the top of it. *So, I might as well inform Jack of this* He thought.

"Hey Karate Kid, look what I found"  Jack read over it and replied" Yeah Sunscreen, there was a SWAT van there the other day when I was having a brawl with Oni.  There was a guy in a white hood sitting in thew van too."

" Ok, lets split up and see if we can find this white hooded guy."  Sunburn said as he burst into flames and up into the sky.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Haze accepted Starbright's hug somewhat awkwardly. She'd never been that close to her cousin and found the display of affection a little disconcerting. "Are you alright?" She asked.

Starbright nodded emphatically, "Yes. Now let's get out of here."

"Just a moment," Oni started.

Haze knew this was coming. Oni wouldn't let Starbright go for nothing. Haze waited, she had her own demands of Oni, being that she wanted some time with Flame to see if he could help her remove the images Vandal had planted in her mind. But she'd wait for the right moment.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Chromium waited upon Haze's waist the whole time. He heard and saw everything, the villains had no idea he was there. He would respond with lightning speed if Haze was in danger however. Now was the moment of truth. Would Oni simply try to recrute Haze, and let her go if she denied. Or would he use force to manipulate her. Chromium hoped it would not lead to combat. Although he was a very potent super the fact was, they were outnumbered. And he wouldn't only have to worry about his own well being, he would have to look out for Haze.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

((ask and ye shall receive.))

"Now, I know what you're thinking." Oni began. " 'Oh! What a terrible person Oni is, surely he won't let me take my cousin away without me doing him a favor! I do declare!" Oni micked Haze's voice, making her sound slightly like a southern belle.

"Well, you're wrong, mon soeur. See, me letting your cousin go isn't so much a favor as it is a peace offering. A show of good faith. I'd like you to join me, to join the winning side in this little war we've got going on. I think you'd be able to make a very nice life for yourself, the kind of life you know you deserve, and better. You know when the meeting time is and where it is, but really, I'd like a yes or no answer. Either way, I'll let you take little miss Starshine right here, to show I mean no harm. I admit I walk a fine line, and I have killed before, but I would never kill someone who has done me no personal wrong. If you deny me, no harm will come to you. However, denial will also mean you won't get any of the substantial opportunity pie that's still baking in the oven until you-know-when."

Oni paused for a moment.

"Nice belt. That new? I'd stay away from the techno-style if I were you, but hey, that's just me.

"More to the point, I'll be honest. I know who you are, whether it's fair or not. so I'm gonna divulge a few secrets to you." Oni turned to Flame.

"Bubelah, i'm gonna think some stuff to you that I want you to transfer to Haze's mind.."

Flame merely nodded his head.

"K', here we go." Oni tilte his head slightly and looked at Flame.

My name, Oni thought. Is Aleksander Uy. I'm a Jewish half-Russian/half-japanese, and I've been living in this city since I was born. I used to be a happy go-lucky kid. Exceptionally bright, and in the prime of my life. Then, what else, I was in a horrible car accident. It's been done to death, I know, but it's what happened. Paralyzed from the ribs down, all I could move was my arms and my head. So, naturally, I built this suit to let me walk. It worked brilliantly, even though to make it work the suit had to be irreversably binded to my nervous system. But it worked like a charm. I could feel anything and everything that came my way. And no, I didn't immediately put in weapons and run around punching people. It used be just plain silver, covering my back and my legs. I could easily cover it with clothes.

So, for a few months, everything went hunky-dory, fine and dandy sugar and candy. Then my mom died in the collateral damage of a super-hero fight. Yes, this is the part where I put weapons in, turned the suit into full-body armor, and became Oni. The end.

Look, times are tough for everyone, and I think I have an idea to end all the war and suffering. i'm going to unite the villains, and with them, crack down on the heroes, scare them all out of their costumes. And for a little while, thins will be kinda bad for the little man, unfortunately. But we, the winning team, will be living like kings, champaigne and caviar and cocktail parties on a charter ship to Venus. And eventually, as time goes on, the lack of heroism will stir something in the bad guys, realize how bad they need the good guys. After all, in order for the devil to be truly evil ,there must be a being of total good. Without the one, the other falls apart.

Okay Flame, that's all I got. You can cease telebroadcast now.

"So?" Oni asked "How about it?"
