Topic: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

In order to maintain a realistic membership count for the board, membership will be managed by some basic parameters. 32 accounts were just dropped because they didn't fit a base limit:

> Within 60 days of Registration, you must log in. (This is separate from Last Login.)
> You must post at least 1 post.

As we hit our 200th registration yesterday, I noticed several members with "0" posts since registering back in February. Now, we're down to 170, but it's 170 active members.

Feel free to post your comments on this board membership requirement.

That was a good Idea to drop them. (dead beats) tongue
I don't know why someone would be so stupid to register to a perfect fan club and never post!
oh well.

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

Since this is now an automatic trigger, I added it to the Rules that new members see before joining. In short, Fett-line sentences for those with ADD.

Glad to know it's supported so far!

Also, very Fett-esque, Aaron. No waste, no ...loose ends, so to speak. wink

SO THATS what happened to my old account...

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

Well it seems a bit silly to have so many inactive accounts. I made a thread to prompt people to post who have never posted before. So far I have one new member who has responded.

It is silly. Why register if you're not going to post?

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

But its not really fair to those who don't have much to say, or are shy. Think about if it applied to all posters, imagine all the people who would have their account deleted? You could lose me *big sad eyes*

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

Cecilia, you might be unclear: you just have to post 1 message within the first 60 days, or else it's bumped. At the very least, it encourages an introduction. Non-members can read posts, and we get plenty of guests here.

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

I KNOW what it meant. I was just trying to make a point about if it applied to all members that post, but not that much.

Jeeze, I HATE when i try to make a point and people miss it and just think I don't get it! ><

Clarity helps. Three confusing parts to your post:

If they don't have much to say, fine; if nothing to say, not fine.

If they're "posters," they've posted something and this isn't applicable.

If you really understood the issue, it wouldn't be applicable to you.

Sorry if this isn't clear. It's very basic maintenance to have more-legitimate member counts.

That is a smart system.  It makes sense.

I don't like it when someone posts 1 post and NEVER gets back on again. (The reason my name isn't Darth Revan...Someone used that name, never posted, and has not logged in or posted since, but is still a member. It must have been before you changed the rules.)

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

I think that is a good idea.

I agree with you Miba, if you just want to lurk and read the post then that is fine but if you want to register you should post.

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

I think their should a like 1 post every 60-90 days so people wont sign up and post 1 check for a week or two and forget about the site. Sure the numbers look good but they are fooling. I think thats the best idea because there has 2 be atleast 1 topic every 60-90 days for every 1 to have atleast 1 comment or or can make their own about something they discovered or feel.
Maybe a vote for a new system just so we can weed out a lil more of the 1 posters who havent signed on in like forever.

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

What if someone goes on a vacation, say over the summer, and isn't near a computer for two or three months and can't log on and post? Would they lose their SN then?

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

90 day vacation? and i mean more of the ppl who only have 1 post liek make it for them to have it as more of a newbie thing
Say 1 post every 2-3 months until certain amount of posts are reached but they cant post liek the max in 1 day and never come back type deal. The idea needs some work.

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

I dunno, first thing I could think of, my point was more of a "what if you're gone for more than 90 days" thing.

But I agree with that one, post once every month till you reach a certain amount of posts then it's ok.

Re: Member Pruning: 60 Days, 1 Post

The official answer is right there in the Rules:

- Within 60 days of Registration, you must log in. (This is separate from Last Login.)
- Within 60 days of Registration, you must post at least 1 post. Note the several "welcome" topics to introduce yourself.
