Re: The Big Isn't
(Ok, sorry this is so late. Too much going on recently.)
50,000 credits. How much better could it possibly get?
I would've smoked that monster for free, he thought to himself as he lay in the shadows of a rooftop, getting his surveilance on the surounding area. Now I can do it and make enough to get back home. This is just exquisite.
Of course, that's assuming he could manage to fulfill his task. Even at his best, it would be tough for the Gunslinger to defeat the devil...now he was practically naked, underfed, wounded, unsupplied, and all but unarmed. The slugs True Warrior had handed him would do if he had a perfect situation, but he couldn't afford to waste them. Thirteen shots is enough to kill, but not enough for a drawn-out firefight like was likely to occur. And in a city like this it was completely impossible to locate slugs like he one he needed. Extra ammunition wouldn't be coming along anytime soon unless he switched to a new weapon.
Ideally, however, he wouldn't need them at all. He worked most comfortably from the shadows, as a good assassin should. The right moment, the right setting, and he could kill the beast with his bare hands if he wanted to, no sound at all. Drop, snap, 50,00 credits richer.
Of course, it's always better to not take chances. And that armor might complicate things a bit.
His eyes scanned the spacepart below him. The crowds were thinning and the streetlumos were just starting to come on as the city dropped into dusk, marking the arrival of his era. He ruled the nights, despite the fact that no one else knew it. It's always best that way.
Sometime soon that hunter would have to come by. Maybe the Gunslinger would strike, maybe he would bide his time. Assassins have to be patient out of necessity, and for a setup that needed to be so perfect, he was willing to bring himself to the point of starvation before attacking. He could eat all he wanted with 50,000 credits.
