Rewatched the episode and while still dissapointed not to see Boba, enjoyed it much more on rewatch as I just considered it a bonus but misplaced episode of mando lol

The I can't say that single episode has been solid, its been bits and pieces really that I've liked. Which I sort of expected.

To be completely honest, I'm equally frightened and excited for the next two episodes.

Half of me is scared they'll steal the spot out from Boba, from his own show, and show Djarin finding Grogu. WHICH WOULD NOT BE A BAD EPISODE, IF IT WAS IN THE RIGHT SERIES! Same thing with this most recent episode. It was good! But someone put it in the wrong series.

The other half of me is excited that they may just make an old legends storyline canon, in which Boba Fett becomes the Mandalore and ushers in the new dawn of the Mandalorians. Although this is a very speculative theory, and I could see many ways in which this would not make sense. But there are also many reasons for it to make sense.

Like, for instance, them making an entire episode of The Book of Boba Fett about Din Djarin, and not Boba Fett. If they're not setting up a plotline similar to what I stated, I don't see an excuse for it, nor for the many easter eggs (the new Mythosaur insignia, Mando being unable to handle the darksaber, etc). It would have served much better as Episode 1 of Season 3 of Mando. However, in an instance where it doesn't entirely make sense is the whole war with the pikes and Boba trying to become a crime lord. Why waste so much time on that plot if you're going to switch it up pre-finale?

Who knows, I could entirely be wrong and the series might prove itself with or without that speculation. Or it might bomb. Again, who knows?

I think this episode is being overrated simply because Din Djarin is popular. This is not Din at his best. He lacks focus. Watch that intro scene again, he didn’t plan to use the darksaber, he had to because he got his hand bitten when he went for his blaster, and then he ends up cutting his leg with the saber, has to bargain with the workers there because he knows he’d lose a fight where he is that outnumbered. He does all that so he can find the Armorer who is hiding with Paz, and Din gets medical treatment, another Mando history lesson, a gift for Grogu, some darksaber training that doesn’t work out, and a fight with Paz, voiced by the show’s writer Favreau, that was almost to the death (gee, wonder why Favreau didn’t kill him off) that ends with Din exiled from the clan. He then pays for a ship (that he also has to help fix) that he takes for a test run where he gets busted by the space cops again (a scene that seemed strangely unnecessary) before he takes Fennec’s offer, and says he will work for Boba for free (Mando will be poor by the end of this I guess). But there is where the episode really messed up. I get that Boba probably doesn’t want to leave the city and go to Mos Eisley because war might break out any moment but it would have been nice to see Boba actually meet Din at the end of the episode and have a brief conversation. Or is this The Book of Fennec Shand? Since she’s the only character to have dialogue in every episode. And no disrespect to Bryce Dallas Howard but this episode felt like it was more in service to her than Boba Fett fans – couldn’t help but notice after the episode aired I was seeing articles promoting her Star Wars future and rooting for her to do Star Wars movies – yeah, she’s great, but this episode was a disservice to Boba’s fans and I didn’t think it really did Mandalorian fans that much of a service to be honest because while they joke that it is Mandalorian 2.5, it really isn’t. Sure, scenes from this series will appear in Mandalorian season 3’s recap, but I don’t exactly see Mandalorian Season 2 as The Book of Boba Fett 0.5 because even if he was in half those episodes and the season ends promoting BoBF, he wasn’t the main focus, and it’s not his show. To make a funny comparison, this episode felt like I was watching one of those episodes of Sanford & Son that had no Fred Sanford in it at all. Even if the episode made me laugh I still saw it as a failure not to have the main character involved.
