pinball Boba Fett Pinball Coming to PlayStation 3 and Vita

Back in February, we announced the Boba Fett table within the Star Wars Pinball game. The standalone game, Star Wars Pinball, includes the Star Wars Episode V, Boba Fett and Clone Wars tables we've seen before.

While it's a standalone application from the Apple App Store and Google Play, it's currently downloadable content within these games:

  • Pinball FX2™ on Xbox LIVE® Arcade
  • Zen Pinball 2™ on PlayStation®Network for PlayStation 3 & PlayStation Vita with Cross Buy entitlement! Purchase once and play on both systems!
  • Zen Pinball 2 on the Mac®App Store
  • Zen Pinball on the Apple® App Store
  • Zen Pinball HD Google Play™

Joystiq has more details:

Players can choose to contribute their high scores to either the Galactic Empire or Rebel Alliance, with the game's interface changing dynamically depending on the global balance of power. The game will be Cross-Buy enabled at $9.99/€9.99, though anyone who already owns these tables in Zen Pinball 2 can download the new solo app for free. Likewise, anyone that purchases Star Wars Pinball will unlock the equivalent tables in Zen Pinball 2.

Don't miss the hint for the Boba Fett game released on the Zen Studios blog post:

Assist Boba Fett in completing two sets of bounties, or table missions, in an effort to gain RESPECT and secure his spot as the most badass bounty hunter in the galaxy. To activate the Galactic Empire bounties, spell out the word EMPIRE by shooting the middle-left orbit. Activate the HUTTS bounties by shooting the sinkhole under the seesaw ramp. Just watch out for the Sarlacc pit!

Sneakerhead Treatment for Boba Fett

Freehand Profit, an artist/illustrator/designer based in Los Angeles, used two Nike "Boba Fett" shoes to make a very creative Boba Fett helmet.

Excerpt from the announcement:

I had given up finding pairs of the ‘Boba Fett’ Nike SB Dunk HIs from 2008- it seemed like no one was selling them. I assumed no one in their right mind would give up such a great piece of SB Gold… then a pair appeared… and at a price I didn’t even flinch at. I realized with all the hype and the market flooded with newbies after ‘nothing but HEAT’, some folks gave up selling shoes that weren’t South Beach Lebrons, Tiffany SBs or Jordan Retros. I was lucky and ecstatic to find 4 pairs from great folks all across the country – some by trade some by cold cash money. I set 2 aside for the mask, and a wishful thinking 2 for me. Anytime I start a big project like the Stormtrooper or Boba Fett helmets I know I’ll need more material than a “standard” sneaker gas mask. I aim to do each piece with as few pairs as possible to avoid waste, for the Boba Fett helmet it could’ve been done with just 2 pairs. I saw more potential in sacrificing a 3rd pair for the sake of certain design elements in the finished piece. Very happy with the results, and just as happy with a single pair in my rotation.

The artwork is for sale.

Haute Mess Threads, a shop out of Picayune, Mississippi, calls herself the unofficial "lady gaga of aprons." Ninja Turtles' Krang, Batman's Harley Quinn, Disney/Marvel's Deadpool are just some of the inspired threads. But she's got matching his and her Boba Fett aprons and that caught our eye. They're not cheap ($75 and $100, respectively), but do look pretty sweet.

Star Wars 1313 Game, Now Shelved, Was About Boba

Kotaku, a Gawker Media tech blog, reports with two concept graphics that Star Wars 1313 involved Boba Fett.

[L]ast year, just before E3, LucasArts shifted focus and turned it into a game about the masked bounty hunter Boba Fett.

This happened last May. Star Wars creator George Lucas looked at 1313—which at that point had been scrapped and refocused multiple times—and told the team he wanted it to be about Boba Fett, the mercenary whose origins as a clone were revealed in the Star Wars prequel movies.

You can see concept art from this version of Star Wars 1313 above. Boba Fett stands over someone who looks a whole lot like Bossk, a lizard-like bounty hunter who Fett has apparently captured. They appear to be in the seedy underworld of Coruscant.

Rovio, makers of Angry Birds, just uploaded their latest trailer featuring Boba Fett's role in the upcoming Angry Birds Star Wars update.

MTV's Multiplayer Blog and MTV UK were quick to post some commentary:

Cloud City looks to add some interesting new obstacles, including steam grates that will have the birds changing direction mid-fling. But what's most exciting about the new levels is the introduction of Boba Fett. While players obviously won't be able to add the bounty hunter to their ranks, it looks like his jet pack will be more troublesome for the pigs than helpful.

Update: Here's the teaser trailer version that was uploaded first:

Boba Fett Receives Landslide Victory

03.23.2013 • Comments 2 comments

BobaVsDengar Boba Fett Receives Landslide VictoryEarlier this month StarWars.com launched its This Is Madness Character Tournament, pitting popular characters against each other in a bracket style tourney until an ultimate winner is chosen on April 9.

Last night Boba Fett moved to the second round, after defeating Dengar by a landslide – receiving 96 percent of the votes. While exciting, the win wasn’t too surprising. Casual fans are most likely unfamiliar with the character of Dengar, unless they’ve read 90’s era Expanded Universe novels.

Today’s matchup between bounty hunters Jango Fett and Bossk will decide Boba Fett’s opponent in round two. Up until now the matches have been somewhat predictable, bearing no upsets and landslide victories, but I feel the Jango/Bossk pairing is more balanced and fair.

Boba Fett’s second round matchup will happen March 25. I imagine votes would be torn if Boba ends up going against his father – but in the end I predict a close victory by Boba. Having Boba Fett pitted against Bossk is the more interesting match to fantasize about, especially with the history between the characters developed during The Clone Wars.

Looking further at the bracket – and assuming Boba Fett walks away with a second round win – he will most likely be facing Cad Bane in the third round. This round will be a war of eras; the prequel generation carries a torch for Bane, which will weigh against the fandom of original trilogy and EU generations.

One of the biggest obstacles in Boba Fett going the distance in this tournament are a handful of jaded voters, individuals who begrudge the Mandalorian bounty hunter simply due to his popularity.

In the meantime, let’s relish in Boba Fett’s victory! This tournament may just be for entertainment, but there’s always a chance it’s a marketing tool in deciding the direction of future projects. To ensure the people at Lucasfilm and Disney realize the strong fanbase behind our favorite bounty hunter – keep campaigning for #TeamBoba!

New Wave Of Fighter Pods Introduces Slave I

03.17.2013 • Comments 1 comment

slave I fighter 340x281 New Wave Of Fighter Pods Introduces Slave IThe last few months have been disappointing for Star Wars fans. We’ve seen The Clone Wars and release of prequel films in 3D cancelled, a postponement for Star Wars Detours and a few video games put on hold.

Some retail stores have also been consolidating their Star Wars merchandise. This past New York Toy Fair was reported as underwhelming in terms of new lines of action figures.

I walked into Wal-Mart a couple weeks ago to see they tore down the aisle display for its Star Wars merchandise. Besides Hasbro’s upcoming Black Series, there are really no new waves of action figures being released this year in North America.

Therefore, the pegs are being filled with beaten, damaged figures on cards that are lying around warehouses or storage rooms.

During a grocery shopping trip earlier today at Target, I was not expecting to find the first wave of Fighter Pods Rampage Series 4 on the shelves. One of the new vehicle sets included with this new wave is the Slave I.

I failed to findmany images of Series 4 emerge from of the New York Toy Fair. Also, the Fighter Pod’s website is not updated with images from its new wave, so it was a true treat. I successfully embarrassed my wife, as I performed a little dance of surprise and excitement in the middle of the toy aisle.

The Slave I is beautifully sculpted and painted in the blue and silver color scheme of Jango Fett. Since this toy line is known for releasing variants, I imagine we’ll see another Slave I, painted in Boba Fett’s color scheme, with an upcoming wave.

The set comes with three pods, which fit snugly at the rear of the Slave I – where the Cargo Bay is positioned. By pressing the cockpit window, the pod is launched or dropped from the vehicle. In my personal (biased) opinion, this is one of the most well designed vehicles in the Fighter Pods line.

This set also comes with eight characters, including new versions of Obi Wan Kenobi, Jango Fett, Saesee Tiin, Asajj Ventress, Luke Skywalker, Sandtrooper Hologram, Chewbacca Hologram and R-3PO.

Most of the characters and vehicles from Series 4 come from the prequel era and The Clone Wars. This is likely due to many toy companies having planned their upcoming lines to be released around the time the prequel movies were scheduled for release in 3D.

new boba New Wave Of Fighter Pods Introduces Slave IThis first wave introduces a fourth version of Boba Fett to the series line – a Boba Fett Hologram figurine. The hologram is sculpted in red plastic, identifying him as part of the Dark Side characters. Boba Fett Hologram stands in a relaxed position, with his blaster resting at his side.

As far as I’ve seen, the Boba Fett Hologram can only be found in the product lines’ blind packaging. However, I’ve not seen the full line of new vehicles or combo packs, so it might very well be found in those later this season.

I’ve only seen the Slave I set at my local Target, but nothing on the packaging hints at it being an exclusive to that retail location. If you’ve spotted this set at other stores, please let us know.
