Topic: Boba's Armor

Whose armor does Boba use in TESB and ROTJ? He took Jango's, and Jaster Mereel's, and made his own. The costumes were different in both movies, so he obviously changes armor to fit the situation. His armor had different weapons than Jango's, but he could have upgraded. Same with Jaster's or it was his own. What suites do you think he wore in TESB, and then in ROTJ?

Re: Boba's Armor

Actually his armour had pretty much the same built in weapons as that worn by Jango, the only real difference was the lack of shin, thigh and boot armour - which can be attributed to Boba preferring a more mobile style of combat. The upcoming TV show may answer the question once and for all but remember it is more then likely that Boba had more than one set of armour, hence the difference between the films.

Re: Boba's Armor

If you look at it, it seemed to me that he lacked a poison dart shooter. He might have had one, but he never used it. (I would've used it on Luke above the Sarlacc if I had a poison dart shooter.) The objects in his shin pockets are ways to open a door being completely silent. Thats another thing one had that the other didn't. I do question why he got rid of the thigh and shin guards though.

Re: Boba's Armor

Doesn't he have mini-rockets on his knees? And I thought on one of the OT armors he had a poison dart launcher, it said so in the "amazing cross-sections of star wars", or some book like that.

"Some soldiers say that to reach maximum combat efficiency, they need to be in the zone. Sir; I live in the zone." - RC 1207 'Sev' to RC 1138 'Boss'

Re: Boba's Armor

Mini rocket dart launchers, two on each knee. Both Boba and Jango have them.
As to getting rid of the armour don't forget that it was actually the other way, they added armour rather then took away - however, that said; an in universe explanation could be mobility. I've worn both types ie: Jango style armour and Boba style armour (my own style is the same as Boba's) and have found that whilst there is little difference between the two, not having shin and thigh armour allows me a tad more freedom (and the added thigh pouches are extremely useful)
The dart launcher on the right gauntlet wasn't something special for Jango. The Kamino Sabre-dart fitted into the cord launcher Boba used to entangle Skywalker. The gauntlets themselves where the same, minus a keypad on the left gauntlet of Boba and the housing covering the flame unit in ESB, and several extra pipes Jango had running to his. Both of them have four poison darts that can be fired from the right gauntlet.

Re: Boba's Armor

I know the armor very well. I just have to look at some of the gear and guess the function. 98% of the time, I'm right. I don't have any armor to study up close like you though. I'm planning on making it though.

I hadn't noticed they were different, I'll have to take more notice next time I watch

They were also different with Jango's forearm blades/thing he used to save himself from sliding over the edge of the Kaminonin landing pad right?  I'm 98.7% sure Boba doesn't have those...unless they got addes into some EU piece I've never heard of

Re: Boba's Armor

In my opinion, Boba Fett is only the character he is today because of the way he looks. As has been commented many times here on the boards, George Lucas has just been making things up as he goes. Boba Fett was originally a very minor character with nothing to support him but his visual aesthetic. By which I mean, he looked cool. Everyone knows his original color scheme was supposed to be white, and then for his debut he has the revamped, and I think the best color scheme all, with non matching gauntlets and exposed flame unit. He also has several wires hanging off of his armor in different places  and an extra belt that is visible on the Kenner photos taken for the original carded figure. One of the coolest aspects of the color prototype armor was his kick *** gloves, the brown and beige two-tone gloves with the military patches. Those gloves totally rocked!

Anyway, the confusion concerning his armor, I believe, is a result of the over elaboration by fans who Lucas has exploited to make more money. Between the comics, novels expanded universe etc. Boba Fett has become something he was never really intended to be, a main character. The fact that we don't have all of the details and back story concerning his armor is, I think, part of what makes him so cool. So much of the mystery surrounding Fett is gone, and I think that has done more to reduce his image than to enhance it.

On another note, Jango's armor looked brand new, Boba's has seen some serious action. My understanding from the received view of a few years back was that there was never supposed to me that much of the stuff around in the first place and I remember reading somewhere that the idea was that he salvaged bits and pieces as he came across them and refurbished them. Does anyone else remember that aspect of the mythology? I think this was well before karen Traviss and all of the other expanded universe crap.

Sorry about the negativity, I am really old-school!

I remember that time very well.

Re: Boba's Armor

In the bounty hunter wars books, he has a hiding place for extra equipment, so he can replace armor when it gets destroyed. Maybe that is why he has different pieces in those two movies. I don't know if anyone has already brought that up... I didn't read the entire thread, so forgive me if I'm saying something redundant.

I completely agree with this statement! I think Lucas was shocked at the amount of first wave of Boba Fett fans (original fans) and yes decided to make money off of it.

You know as far as Boba hiding armor goes - it would totally make since. I mean ok say YOU was Boba Fett (or another bounty hunter) what would you do? Have only one armor set? Most likely not. I know I would not. I would most likely have several pieces and hide quite a bit of it in-case my place was raided. This is how I think about things anyway.

I know some about Boba's armor -- but NOT like you guys.... I can learn from this group big_smile

Re: Boba's Armor

I guess he probably has different pieces of armour, equipment and weapons so he can modify his suit for the specifications of each mission.

Re: Boba's Armor

Well boba armor was the same as Jango feet's armor just a little more design with his green color and all, but all in all his mandalarin armor could or should I say probably saved him from the sand pit he fell into. I have heard that he is getting his own movie Sience we all obviously love him he's gotten really popular.

Almost! Boba's armor is a little different beyond just the color, but good thinking.

You're also right on about it helping him in the Sarlacc. In several stories, now called "legends," he gets out of the pit in various ways. But now in the "canon" or "true" storyline, it's to be determined what happened after he fell in. smile

As for his own film, that's still just rumored! It might happen, but it hasn't been confirmed yet.
