Topic: Costume: working parts?

does your armor have working parts if so post some pictures!

or ideas on what kindof stuff you think you could make work

im trying to make my fett costume have as many working gadgets as possible heres a list of what i think i may be able to put on it
flamethrower(works great at birthday partys and bonfires
put lcd screen in rangefinder(shows where ur guns aiming)
camera on paintball operated carbine(camera works wit range finder)
missle launcher(using a model rocket and a co2 canister)
jetpack(ill think of something)
some kindof of cable launcher(i can probably at least make it dispense a cable.
and last but not least a lite up display on armor wont do much just flash.
so ya i got a lot of cool stuff planned but i probably wont be able to do the flame trower or missle launcher(unless i can sneek it under my parents radar)
so ill post some pictures and a link to a movie when im done smile

Re: Costume: working parts?

I soooo need the flame thrower if I have to make creme brulee. It would also be handy for soldering.
And you could use the cable launcher as a tape measure if you marked it off in increments. big_smile

Re: Costume: working parts?

lol i think what ill do is use flammable(not explosive)
gas and ill have to light it manualy or maybe i can get a bbq lighter and rig it to shoot out a lot more fuel but i think ill do the other stuff first

also do any of u know how to change my title right now it says "new member"

Re: Costume: working parts?

Your title will be New Member till you post a certain amount of times. Like I've posted over 1,000 posts, that's how I got my title. We don't choose our own, but getting higher post counts gets you a new rank.

Re: Costume: working parts?

:lol:I bought those plans!! If you make it right (which is kinda hard) it's great fun! However, it might be slightly impractical for mounting on a Boba Fett costume; it can be pretty bulky.... Anyway, I had the same idea, make a working costume and maybe try and sell it or something. Might be kinda dangerous... wink

Re: Costume: working parts?

i would have bought those plans but the pictures showed that it was pretty bulky and make sure you get fire retardent gloves smile

Re: Costume: working parts?

Actually, being that it just shoots a stream of flaming liquid, it isn’t that hot. I was rather surprised. (Well, I mean, it is a stream of fire, but its nowhere near as hot as a torch) The downside is that the liquid that you have to use, after landing on the ground, continues to burn and is quite difficult to put out....kinda like a grease fire. The more you mess with it, the worse it gets…

Re: Costume: working parts?

well i dont want to use liquid because if it soaks someone they intantly become super flammable but what i was thinking of(gas)
can easily be blown back at you or someone else. so im still going with gas since theres almost no windy days where i live.

Re: Costume: working parts?

Hmmm, isn’t that the point? wink Just kidding.

The problem with gas (i.e. propane) is that it is generally quite difficult to get your flames to go more than about 3 or 4 feet. Now I’m not saying it can’t be done it’s just a lot harder. But a liquid under pressure can shoot a lot farther.
The military type flamethrowers use both a flammable liquid and a compressed gas such as propane or butane. When mixed together properly it works....quite well.

Now, I’m not saying you should do that, nor am I trying to tell you what you can or can’t do (I’m sorry if it sounds that way) Just thought I would give you a little advice from a guy who has made (and failed at making) many flamethrowers to save you time and money......

Re: Costume: working parts?

This will be helpful to me at least, Jacsveus. I want to make a flamethrower, that'd be so cool! *pyro*

However it's on my costume waiting list, and somehow keeps getting pushed farther and farther down it, so I'm not sure when I'll start on that one.

Re: Costume: working parts?

U could put a cell phone lcd screen in the range finder, but how how u could hook up a mini camera to the scope without using wires, I have no idea.

Re: Costume: working parts?

well for the rangefinder i found this one special lcd screen used for reading stuff and its meant to go rifht infront of your eye and so that will work out great because its simple and it only has a screen a battery and a video input
and so ive found various spy cams that are wireless and ill probably take the nozzle from a bbq lighter and pump lots of fuel through it if im at least able to get 1 to 2 fett ill be satisfied(for now lol)
oh and heres some pictures of my costume from haloween and yes im going to repaint the armor but sweet helmet huh?

http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/SGT-BOB/profilemyspace.jpg

and yes i have alot of other things missing but ill have em long before next year but its hard to get in much time to work on my suit with my constant supply in homework

Re: Costume: working parts?

lol this is great. if we work together, we can invent all of fett's equipment in real life. maybe even the jetpack. now, i'm already trying to make the dart-shooter and the whipcord. i have some ideas for the dart-shooter, but i need help with the whipcord. im sure i can make a rope shoot out but how do i make it wrap itself around something?

Re: Costume: working parts?

how do you plan on making the whipcord work. i would really like to know. i was thinking of using my compressed air tank for my paintball gun and rigging up a hose where the whip cord will shoot out. i just need to find out how to make it shoot and be able to have a long cord on it. any ideas. let me know if thats what u were thinking. i was also thinking about making the gun actually working as well maybe get a cheap paintball gun or airsoft rifle and make it look like the actual blaster. let me know if my ideas are at all possible.

It's not just about making a rope shoot, the problem is making it twist around by itself. Besides I gave this project up a long time ago. At the most I'd make a dart shooter.

Making it wrap around things is actually one of the stupid things I noticed in the movie. There is no reason that it would happen. If he shot it out on an angle it would logically bend around something, but when he wraps up Luke or when Jango grabs Obi-Wan's leg... I laughed to myself.

Good... Bad... I'm the one with the gun.

Well it would be possible to make it wrap around things but it would take some pretty sophisticated technology.
