Quick links: Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4

In advance of the debut episode dropping in less than 11 hours, here is our spot to discuss spoilers and reactions. Nothing on the topic is off topic. Enjoy!

Given a distinct musical cue in Chapter 4, strong hints of Din Djarin or Bo-Katan Kryze as the hired muscle Fennec was mentioning. We'll see...

After goofs again with IMDb data being wrong in advance, using them as a source isn't 100%. But according to Lucasfilm publicist Tracy Cannobbio on Twitter, Bryce Dallas Howard is directing tonight's episode.

It's make sense .
Episode 6 is co-written by Filoni so logically directed by him.
And the seventh is the last episode of the series, Rodriguez who started it is the most obvious choice.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

52 minutes but a minute of recap/intro and four or so minutes of credits.
Bryce directed, as confirmed earlier.
Din Djarin is mostly in the episode, plus The Armorer, Heavy Infantry Mando, the Darksaber...
Heavy Infantry Mando vs. Din Djarin battle for the saber.
Amy Sedaris is back, as hinted to in an earlier episode in the background with her pit droids.
Boba Fett is not in the episode, but he's mentioned in dialogue with Fennec and Din at the end; Din is the muscle and he'll work for Boba on the house.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

I’m so upset that we wasted an entire episode on what could have been episode 1 of Mando S3. I’ve liked the previous episodes, but this seems like a slap in the face. It seems like cutting out an episode to only say “Boba Fett” once seems really strange. I feel like I waited a week for an episode for a different series to air hmm

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Ugghhhhhhh…. why

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Loved the episode! I know some people will be disappointed that it was solely focused on Mando (with Boba only being mentioned by name) but, I appreciate them shedding some light on what Mando has been up to instead of just having him suddenly appear, kill some Pikes, fist bump Boba, and then fly off into the sunset. I think it did a good job of setting up Boba and Mando's reunion and Mando S3.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Why did no one tell me I was watching The Mandalorian S3 Episode 1? Oh wait, this was The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5? Then were the blue blazes was the bald man? Can’t even have him appear at the end to hire Mando, gotta have Fennec do that too just to give one last little F you to people waiting a week for more BOBA FETT content. One of the worst parts is that I’d probably have loved the episode if it was just an episode of Mando, but as an episode of The Book of Boba Fett in an already limited 7 episode season with no Season 2 in sight, extremely disappointing

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Yeah this one wasn't for me. More for Din fans. Look I like Din Djarin..a lot, don't get me wrong...He's just not on the same level as Fett for me.
As soon as his theme played at the end of last week I was afraid he'd steal the spotlight of Fett's own show and my worst fears became true this week.
While it was very cool to see what Din was up to this whole time and watch him get his new ship this could've easily have been shown in the first part of S3 like Dan mentioned.
It was good it just didn't feel like it belonged in a Boba Fett series. I get the whole point of it though we're setting up toward S3 of Mando, believe me I get it.
..BUT Fett has literally just returned within the last few chapters of Mando S2 along with his new series which isn't that long of a series to begin with and Din is already kinda stealing the spotlight for a full episode lol which was almost an hour long. I think that's my main issue with it. Obviously all is forgiven with a John Wick Fett scene along with his Rancor lol. I'm sure we'll get it but I'm starving for Fett action at this point.

EDIT: agreed @Apoiio

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Feels like Boba is a joke. Horrible

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

The Book of Boba Fett without Boba Fett

I'm starting to think that they shouldn't have done this spin-off given what they're doing (or don't) with the character.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Agree with others that this was a good episode of a different show. Loved seeing BD droid from Fallen Order and Mando flying the N-1 through Beggar’s Canyon and the reunion with the coven. But none of this belongs in the Book of Boba Fett limited series. It’s just further proof that they are robbing the best parts from OG Boba and giving it to Mando. Still not sure what story they are trying to tell for Boba and we only have 2 episodes left.

So far the best thing about this show has been all the new Boba Fett merchandise they’ve released because of it.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

So many Debbie Downers because no Fett or that Fett is not the series they were expecting.

I think this is tying into an over all larger story of Mandalorians in general. I'm liking what I've been seeing so far. If The Mandalorian and Book of Fett continue to cross over with each other and the coming series Ahsoka, I'm fine with that. It's all Star Wars.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

It was a good episode but definitely from a different show - its been a while since I watched it but did this happen in the mandalorian at all? Giving a whole episode to a different character? Im pretty sure it didn't happen. And shouldn't have happened now - unless there is some major significance with the ship and what not or boba fett will be in mando season 3. I know I should be more patient but its been 24 years (and 40 years for some fans) and Im running out of patience now. I can cope with the disney-fying of star wars, mostly, but its like they don't have faith that boba is a strong, well loved character and can just carry his own series. They have to tie mando, and probably grougu, in to bring a character who is popular. I expected mando to be in it and looked forward to it but a whole episode? I guess it worked though, a lot of people say its the best episode yet. Anyway. Just my opinion and its probably a bit skewed now as I'm slightly mad.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Hey! It's Mando! I like Mando. So, yeah, a fine episode for me. Also, Mando pretty much IS what I hoped Boba Fett would be in this new SW world, so shrug. (Altough I do like the crime boss version of Boba just fine).

Who knows, if Mando's third season is as strong as the other two maybe my favorite bounty hunter is going to change to the new guy.

BUT as I said in a other thread, we'll still have Death, Lies and Treachery which is the best Boba Fett story ever told. Who cares if it isn't canon.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Pretty cool episode, except for the one glaringly obvious omission.  I have to agree with the above sentiments.  No Boba in the entire episode seems really, really short-sighted.  This would've been a perfect first episode for Mando season 3.  Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the episode, but this wasn't a Boba Fett episode, at all.  With that said, where do I begin.  A pretty fun episode.  So many references to so many franchises; HALO, Terminator, Mad Max: Thunderdome, Superman: the Movie (1978), just to name a few.

A "HALO" type ring world was pretty neat to see, although I would expect something like that orbiting one of the industrial planets like Kuat or Fondor, like in the old expanded universe stories.  I was wondering if Paz Vizsla was going to try and take the Dark saber.  Even with the mask on, his body language when he saw the saber told us he knew immediately what it was.  It was too bad about the beskar spear.  The whole "beskar is not for weapons, only armor" doesn't jive with me at all.  The whole point of the beskad (Mandalorian swords) was that it was made from beskar.  So, that statement made no sense, whatsoever.  The flashback to the Mandalorian Purge was unexpected.  Didn't realize the Empire destroyed the entire domed city of Sundari.  The KX-series security and Viper class probe droids combing through the wreckage was very much a nod to the Terminator series.  Kind of creepy to see a Star Wars version of it.

The scene where Din Djarin has to board the shuttle to Tatooine was kind of funny and reminded me of the scene from Mad Max: Thunderdome, where he has to disarm and he's pulling all these weapons out from everywhere to place in the bin.  I was glad to see he's searching for a new ship, but one of those Naboo Starfighters doesn't seem like a good bounty Hunter ship, at all.  There's really no place to put your bounties, unless you're going to strap them over the hood like an animal.  When he was flying through Beggar's Canyon I was really hoping we'd finally see someone "thread the Stone Needle," since we heard so much about it before in other media.  Oh well, maybe one day.  The one funny moment was the little girl watching him fly by, waving, then speeding off.  Reminded me of the scene in Superman: the Movie where Clark is running beside the train and the little girl sees him and reacts similarly.  Adding the same Alliance pilot "pulling him over" again was funny.  Even more-so, because he leaves him in the dust this time.

All in all, not a bad episode.....for a first episode of Mandalorian season 3.  I feel like we got cheated out of a Boba Fett episode that could've moved the story forward.  It was a pretty long episode, too.  If they had shown all the Mando stuff in the first half, then him with Boba Fett content in the second half, after he landed on Tatooine, that would've been awesome.  Boba and Fennec could've picked him up at the hangar bay and moved the story along while the mechanic finished putting the ship together.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Amazing episode of Mandalorian, disappointing episode of BoBF. I just hope Mando doesn't take over the rest of the season.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

First, Deathwatch took away Jango's Mandalorian title. Last year, Omega threatened to take the role of a pure clone. Today, he lost the lead role in his own show to Din Djarin. And he is going to retire to the desert countryside.
Why do they give us the best episode when Boba Fett is not the star of the show? No matter how fun the episode will be next week, I won't be able to enjoy it with an open mind.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

I had been liking the show overall and enjoying Boba's character development post-sarlacc, but I was worried Boba would get overshadowed by what I thought would be a supporting character role at most. Guess you can't overshadow the title character if the title character never shows up :)

As a longtime Boba fan I should probably come to terms with the fact that Din IS the new Boba Fett of this generation and Lucasfilm's focus. Can't help but feel like this show was kinda phoned in and an afterthought.. but hopefully this crossover means that Boba will have a large role in reclaiming Mandalore in S3.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Love the Mandalorian but this was clearly a back door set up for Mando S3. I kept wondering when Boba was going to appear and the story to move forward. The episode itself is a good set up for Mando but this is not The Mandalorian. Very disappointed that Boba Fett did not even appear in an episode of his own show.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

It's a very good Mando episode but no Boba Fett one. We get only 7 BOBF episodes for the whole plot and now we lost one for Mando... Very disappointing.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

I really liked the episode, love the new Mando ship and its speed, it reminded me of the moment the Man of steel first went for a fly!! However I have no idea what this has to do with the BOBF apart from the last 30 seconds!

I'm fed up with Boba being portrayed as a *****, and although it was the best episode yet by some margin, its not good that it was all about Mando, on the Boba show! given what people are saying I doubt Disney will do a second series, because its been a bit of a flop and Mando gets all the praise.

I bet Mando saves Boba at some point as well, that will tell us everything!

Its been quite painful to watch up to now, and I keep saying this, but I hope the next episode proves me wrong!!

Please prove me wrong, I know Boba is not a *****!

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

I liked mando in it but this felt so out of place. It was kinda filler in my opinion. Boba wasn't even in it. Mando got 2 whole seasons to himself now hes taking over Bobas show. There was only 7 episodes in the first place, but now it feels like there's only 6. I would've been fine with it if Boba was at least in the last 10 minutes, but we got a scene of mado building a spaceship. Th is had nothing to do with the plot except for the last 5 minutes. This kind of  stuff should be saved for Mando s3. Robert Rodriguez said all killer no filler. But this feels like all filler no killer. I really wanted a boba show then I'm worried mando is gonna take up the next episode. I just wanted Badass boba in the Book of boba Fett, but we instead got badass mando in the boba fett show. I want the next episode to have mando as a side character. Its making him feel like the main character, and Boba a side character

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

Hmmmm, seems I’m in the wrong thread. I came here to discuss the Mandalorian pre-season Special. I’ll see myself out now.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

It would have been cool if Mando ...was Idk...Boba Fett...why didn't they do that from the beginning...I feel like this episode was Disney/ whomever having to remind us how cool Mando is because Boba is out of gas but episode 3. Wow just ...wow. I had low expectations for this series but.... Who thought this was a good idea? "People love Mando so let's put in some fan service of Episode 1...cause people that played Rouge Squadron are really gonna wanna see the Naboo fighter but witha new paint job...?"  WHAT?!?

Re: The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5

I mean, to be honest, Mando's new ship was goddamn rad. That was a perfect example of bringing something back from the prequels but doing it right.
