In the original Star Wars (Ep IV) Obi Wan told Vader that if he was struck down that he'd become more powerful than Vader could imagine. To be honest is that really true? He was able to go to Luke whenever he needed him, however when Luke was freezing to death on Hoth he didn't save him (perhaps he guided Han to him, but who knows).
The only other perceivable thing was that he glowed in the dark. Great when you need a torch but isn't that what a lightsabre is also for? :P
I didn't really see any extra strength in Obi Wan's abilities, perhaps he was simply bluffing Vader. What are your thoughts?
Topic: More Powerful in Death?

bluffing, or just making vader wonder if he was really superior...question the powers of the dark side
LOL, good guess Regimas!
I agree, I didn't see any extra power in Obi-Wan after his death. In fact, he told Luke he couldn't interfere in their duel on Bespin! So I don't get how Obi-Wan was more powerful after he died or why he said that, except maybe as a bluff like Regimas said.
Bluffing like a top-notch poker player is what I think. There was nothing powerful about him at ALL after death. The only thing "powerful" I could see was that he could communicate with the living. Something most dead people can't do. LOL
Or maybe he got extra powers, but wanted Luke to survive himself. So he would learn some things. And later, perhaps, he helped Luke somehow in something else.
In Episode III Yoda tells to Obi-wan, that he could communicate with Quigon and that he would teach him how to live forever. Maybe Obi-wan meant that while saying to Vader about his powers. And Yoda even said, that siths can't live forever, so...
perhaps he was referring to martyrdom, or his death empowering luke. or just the fact he could be a ghost and scare people at halloween :P
Well, being able to gather wisdom for years and years even after dying.....well, if there is a galactic crisis 10,000 years after ROTJ, then Obi-Wan can help the new young hero save the galaxy. Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Yoda, Anakin, and whoever else becomes a Force ghost will be able to influence events for years to come. I think that's amazing power.
Yes. He actually became more powerful than Vader can imagine. Vader can't kill ghosts. :D :P
He's a bluffer totally!!! :D

But what if Vader found out how to become a ghost, too... Can ghost kill ghosts?
He did become a ghost at the end back as Anakin. :D

Yeah, but what if he became sith again after that?
Can ghost kill ghosts?
can sith become ghosts?
the whole becoming part of the living force doesn't seem very sithy
No, it doesn't. I've not heard of a Sith becoming one with the Force. Just trying to prolong their life through other methods.

You bump into that Sith ghost in the tomb on Korraban when you play KotOR, and in the Tales of the Jedi comic the spirit of Freedon Nadd is a REAL influence on the comic after death...and HE potentially IS more powerful after death
Ok. I just imagine it was in a different fashion that Qui-gon, Obi-one, or Yoda. More like they anchored themselves in the real world, or something. I wouldn't know about either of those, though.

Yeah, but what if he became sith again after that?
The Fox wrote:Can ghost kill ghosts?
Why would he be a sith again if he was dead? :/

Good point... :)

I don't know. Maybe because... he wanted to revenge to Obi-wan for not helping him in Mustafar?
But I thought they were friends again 'cause they were like standing side-by-side smiling. :)

If Vader didn't remember everything and then:
Obi-wan: It's nice you've forgived me about that I left you to Mustafar.
Anakin: ... Hey, wait a minute! I haven't! I just didn't remember that.
(they both ignite their lightsabers)
Obi-wan: Anakin, please! It was for your own good.
Anakin: YOU LIE!! I ALMOST DIED!!
(they started fighting)
Anakin: I'm more powerfuller than last time!
(hits Obi-wan's hand off)
Obi-wan: AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRggGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Anakin: Hahaha! Now you're gonna DIE!!! HAHAHAAA!!
(hits Obi-wans head off)
:|
What would Yoda do in situation like that...
Yoda would ignite his lightsaber and kill Anakin immediatetly.
But I thought they were both DEAD?! :/
-Boba Fett-
So what. Why do people think: "If there are ghost, they can't die again". That doesn't make sense.
And to -F3TT-; if Anakin would have suddenly just attack, Yoda might wouldn't have enough time to kill Anakin... Dunno...
But I thought they were both DEAD?! :/
Yeah. Ghosts can't wield lightsabers. :/
So what. Why do people think: "If there are ghost, they can't die again". That doesn't make sense.
I think it makes perfect sense. A ghost can't die, because it is already dead. It can't get dead-er.
Why couldn't die again? If a ghost would die it wouldn't be a ghost anymore. Then it would be fully died... In fact, I don't even think ghosts as deads, because there's something left from them, something what can think, talk... I got confused... :/
can sith become ghosts?
Darth Plagueis was said to have known the secret of the Force Ghosts...
Darth Bane was...you might consider Darth Nihilus to have been one... He kept his consciousness in his armor and mask, which kept him alive, but he appeared to be a Force Ghost.
LOL, good guess Regimas!

In a comic, Luke and Vader fourght one-on-one between episodes IV, and V (Lucas made that canon) and Obi-Wan possessed Luke, and fought Vader once more. The surprise of this fight? Vader's right arm got cut off...again.
―Boba Fett
Wow, that's like five times now Vader/Anakin has lost an arm!
-Boba Fett-
An interesting topic.
In some ways he was more powerful as he was able to advise and support Luke at times when he may not have been able to have done before.
Not being able to help at Hoth was a way that he was not more powerful, but he could have guided Han there through the force.
