Well, I finally saw it yesterday! My expectations were a bit lowered from reading everyone's comments here, but I still thought it was a rather enjoyable movie. The fight scenes were epic, and I love the score to the Spiderman movies.
I had a nagging feeling after it was over though, and it wasn't until I got home that I realized what was bothering me: It didn't really seem like the other Spiderman movies.
There was just so many odd moments too, like the dancing and what not...
I honestly couldn't stand Peter in this movie when he was under the influence of the symbiote... I just wanted to punch him in the face! It was kinda funny though, 'cause the first time he wore his hair in his eyes, I was like "Emo-Spidey!" XD
Also, to be honest, I really didn't real much sympathy for any of the villians (Which I'm guessing you're supposed to). Their motives didn't seem real enough to me. Okay Sandman, so your daughters ill... ever hear of creating a charity fund...? And you Venom... photoshoping is a hobby, alright?
Okay, so I have a question: What the heck sort of machine did Sandman get trapped in that gave him his powers? Does anyone know?
I mean, I liked it, but I can understand why a lot of die-hards would have problems with it.

It was some sort of molecular rearanger. It took his molecules and bonded them with the sand, which is close to the comic concept (He steps in nuclear test site sand and bonds with it)
Hail to the King Baby!!
What? I thought Peter's whole dance scene in the streets was hilarious!

so i guess the symbiote doesnt amplify ur aggressive nature-it makes you want to do more physical comedy.
and try bad hair styles.
im not saying i wasnt entertained by the movie. it just seems as thought the franchise is incredibly short-sighted.
why not put gwen stacy in spidey 1, and have mj come into the picture in 2, and a serious slap for the writer that killed venom so quickly...
on a side note you know who would play an awesome vulture-ben kingsley.
i would like to see mysterio as well. it would be an a different sort of foe. smoke and mirrors!
and humbug...for comedy!
Reading that article, I like the Kraven and Lizard angle for Spidey 4. Spiderman doesn't haver the guts to take out Lizard because he's his old mentor, so out comes Kraven, getting all the glory doing what Spiderman couldn't. And then he has some ulterior motives.
Just read an IGN article it said that an unnamed actor who was in spider-man 3 said in a n iterview that he and his character who died in spider-man3 will be back a in spider-man 4, and that somehow it will turn out he didn't die after all. I think it's safe to assume this "unnamed actor is Topher Grace, who will be back as Venom.
SF
That would just be cheesy...but unfortunately, more likely since we saw Brock's rib cage explode in the blast. : / Unless, um, the REAL Eddie Brock will show up and meet a surviving fragment of the symbiote. ;)
-Captian Murphy
It's perfect! Instead of Carnage as the brains it should be Norman. Who heals. That would definatly follow the comic continuity more. Then we could have Carnage in 5 because GG threatens Connors with his secret (Lizard) and he makes the suit. Venom somehow comes back. They help each other. And pleh. great movie.
Carnage is cooler than Norman, though.
SF
i thought they would follow the comics as well, having Norman come back. But, I think Sam Raimi is being a poophead about it.

unless the symbiot is able to devide its cells at a rapid rate, its not enough. Tho i dont know if it can devide its cells, see I have a life to tend to so i dont got time to look.
If your life was so important to you, you wouldn't spend time here like you do.
Actually Gustavo, you spend more time here than he does :P.
I think that Carnage or the Lizard would be good villans for the fourth movie.

Correction, I did, but that wasn't my point. My point was that if his life was so important then he wouldn't really be here. Besides in case you haven't noticed, I haven't been here in a little over a week.
While there are a few things I could say to debate this, I think it would be good to end this.
I really hope that Dr. Connors does not become possessed by the sybiote.

Why would the symbiote possess him?
The symbiot needs someone and Dr. Connors is a smart man, who knows what he could create with the symbiot in him. Could result in the introduction of the new villain from connors work. Or he turns into the lizard which chemically rejects the symbiot and he creates man-wolf or aids in the creation of venom 2 and or 3. Possibly even the Jackal since his story revolves around biology and the sciences.
just a thought not saying it will happen.
―Peter Griffin
Dr. Connors couldn't be possessed by the symbiote... everyone would hate the movies. and connors becomes the lizard by trying to create a new arm for him.
maybe.... symbiot attathes to him and he cuts his arm off in an attempt to escape it ( in comics doesnt he lose it in war?) and then equals arm
―Peter Griffin
I think in the movies he is already missing an arm.
1) yes he lost it in Vietnam i believe 2) yea he's been missing an arm since Spidey 2 came out.
wow never noticed. well he could sell the symbiot to scorpion (venom #3) instead of broch since he is dead after he turns into lizard man but that might be like the last spidey so they can introduce venom 2
―Peter Griffin
I'd just like to say that venom is probably not dead yet. There may be another venom yet. If you remember the scientist has some of the black goo stuff with him... that could be released into something else. Say Carnage? I don't know much about the spiderman universe, but I do know that carnage and venom are similar.
I didn't like the fact that the new goblin died, I spose it would be too weird to have a duo working together in spider man.
Overall, I was expecting to cry to this movie like I did to SW episode III. However, no tears came.
I thought the subway fight with sandman was overall better than the actual climactic fight at the end. The end fight was too predictable, short, and convenient.
:D
Venom is a symbiote he can revive. Hes still alive the have to go with the comics

Venom is the symbiote and Eddie Brock put together. The symbiote by itself is not Venom. And besides "the" Venom can't come back because we saw Eddie get blown up....and I say the Venom because there is only 1 Venom. Seriously I hate that Venom 2 Venom 3 crap. Venom 2 was a wuss who got what he deserved from the symbiote, and Mac Gargan is the Scorpion, not Venom. Friggin poser.....there is only ONE Venom.

Too ture. Eddie Brock will make a comeback. No one else is competent enough to have the venom symbiote on.

I agree except for the part about Eddie making a comeback. He's dead, you can see his body get ripped apart in the explosion....
I really hate to say this and if it is true i will hate the movies but it could be like the Goblin/Harry scenario...Blonde girl whose name escapes me finds out spiderman killer her Ediie broch and seeks revenge becoming the next venom ( super dumb) steals the symbiot from Connor ( he turns into lizard man and seeks revenge unsuccessfully) and blah blah. that would be a very bad scenario but with film writers these days... ya never know witht hem and their "reoccuring" scenarios

So? That doesn't mean you have much of a life. Not one worth saying "oh I have a life to tend to" at least. In fact I don't think anyone here can say that. And don't try exagerrating you're on at least once or twice a week.
Jesse is very rarely on. Anyways, let us get back on topic.
I'm on daily. Back on topic, I heard somewhere that Chameleon, Kraven and Lizard would be the villians of Spider-Man 4, and Spider-Man 5 would have the Vulture.

I still doubt he has much of a life.

Where did you hear that? Anyways Vulture sucks. In my opinion they should have put the villains in the order of how deadly they are, from weakest to strongest. In thay case the 1st villain would've been either Rhino, Chameleon, Vulture, or Kraven.
I honestly can't remember. It was on some movie new site. I thought it would be on my drop-down bar, but my computer clears it randomly so it's gone. Crap. I'll get back to you on that.
I gotta say This movie IZ THA BOOOOOMB!!!! :D :D
I loved this movie no doubt, but my favorite charecter, the ever vicious venom, could hve been a little bigger though.......but thats not enough to evade the fact that this was a TOTALLY awesome movie. Im geekin over it. :D
Sorry if the question was already brought up before and I missed it somehow, but what do you all think about Topher playing the role of Venom??
In a Surprising way, he seemed to fit the part with his sarcasm face remarks and so-on......but what do ya'll think?

while i think topher is rising star, and his dead pan delivery made for many comical moments on "that 70's show", i thought he was very wrong for venom. i did not find his voice to fit the character. or his stature.
what i also found odd was that they reference "eddie"(brock) in the first movie-but then re-introduce him
in 3. sort of muddles the continuity. very minor...i realize.

When did they reference him in the 1st one? And about Topher, even though the comic incarnation was buffer, I feel Topher did a great job playing Venom. He didn't make him look stupid, made him a believable character with good reasons ( sort-of) for doing what he did, and I thought he was pretty funny ( I'm Edward Brock Jr sir.......and, I'm dating your daughter....). The whole audience cracked up at it. Besides even though he didn't fight long you gotta admit he beat the crap out of Spiderman and pulled off some pretty sweet moves ( like when Spiderman is trying to sense him but he can't and Venom comes down and picks him up by the head. Friggin sweet.
Gustavo, I cannot remeber te exact scene, but Eddie was referenced to prior tho the third installment.
umm. his name is spoken in a scene where i believe j.j. and robbie say that
eddie hasn't been able to get a picture of spiderman in action.
to confirm the statement-the commentary on the dvd says they meant it to establish eddie for
later action.
...and gustazo, i do see ur point. he was up to the role(topher) but i am sort of a fan of the comic.
where brock is a grizzled photgrapher in his late thirties. i still look at the mcfarlane spideys. he is my fave
comic artist.
im not sure who i would have cast as venom...ill have to think on it.(god bless the edit)
im thinking when they cast venom for sp3, they probably had the "ultimate" spiderman series in mind.

Oh alright thanks. McFarlane is the guy who created Venom isn't he?

The choice is obvious; Mr. T.
Someone in my school said that when they were watching the movie, a little kid had to leave because of Venom.
What a dumb kid. Why would you even go see it if you're gonna get scared? Yeah at 1st those stupid little kids are all excited and screaming like little girls but when they actually go in they just....omfg
By the way anyone collecting the bk toys? I only want Venom but so far I have a red Spiderman, symbiote Spiderman and 1 of the Venoms. See it's:
3 Spidermans
2 Symbiote Spidermans
2 Sandmans
1 New Goblin
2 Venoms (I have 1 of them)
Oh I just remembered my question. What's considered canon in Spiderman, the comics, t.v. shows, or movies?
yeah i wasn't aware of that but he was indeed created by David Michelinie and Todd McFarlane.
http://samruby.com/AmazingSpider-ManM/Large/AmazingSpider-Man316.jpg
IMO few can match mcfarlanes intesity in his artwork.
as far as-what is canon for spidey...i have no clue.
but i doubt the movies r, or the cartoons. although the MTV cartoon was very cool.
anybody catch that?
What is established in the comics is canon for Spider-Man.
I used to watch the MTV Spiderman show. I only saw a few episodes of it, though.
i hate that sometimes when a good cartoon is made from a good comic but sometimes are fighting in canon info...because both versions are great ( tho not all the time) especially with oldies like xmen and spidey
―Peter Griffin
lol gustavo how much money have u spent at bk? and the MTV Spider-Man wasn't half-bad, it was more canon than the movies.
