Topic: When did Boba become Mandalore in Legends?

This question comes from a BFFC fan on Instagram. Looking for the ABY/BBY year here.

The fan found the Wookieepedia mention a little confusing and, reading what they have, yup, it's a little unclear, which is as follows as of today:

"After a promise made to a dying Fenn Shysa, Fett became Mandalore and eventually led the Mandalorians through the Yuuzhan Vong War."

Wasn't the Fett becoming Mandalore content in the Legacy of the Force series, which for Fetts books is 40 ABY - 41 ABY - 41.5 ABY, or was it a flashback/past reference?

The Vong War happens much earlier (25 ABY to 29 ABY).

The stuff mentioned in the Legacy of the Force series of books is talking about events that happened earlier.  On the Wookieepedia article, it mentions that he took over as Mandalore from Fenn Shysa around 23ABY.

The article places Boba Fett's elevation to Mandalore in 23 ABY, two years after Fenn Shysa's death when Fett agreed to the role.

Never even seen or heard of this web blog before.  Kind of interesting.  It's actually on the main Star Wars website.  I'm sure most of it has been relegated to "non-canon" status since Disney shoved all the EU lore out an airlock.

Great looking out, but wait a second... One BLOG post from 2013 on StarWars.com is the ONLY source for this 23 ABY content..? That seems pretty weak.

Agreed.  This is the only source cited on Wookieepedia for the info on Boba Fett's "Legend" info tab.  I think they use it on there because it's the official Star Wars site and since he was doing the articles for them, it adds to the validity of his info.  However, the blog articles for each "gunslinger" and "bounty hunter" seems like it's just a rehash of collected info from other various sources.  I'm curious where he got the info about the year Fett "mercy killed" Shysa on the planet Shogun and became Mandalore a couple years later.  When you look up Fenn Shysa's Wookieepedia info page, they use the Galaxy at War game book and the History of the Mandalorians article from the Star Wars Insider magazine as sources for these events.

I don't have the Galaxy at War book, and I'd have to search and dig out the History of the Mandalorians article and re-read it to see if it lists a specific date in there of when Fett became Mandalore.


Edit: I actually found a website that had scans of the article from the Star Wars Insider magazine.

Guess we just have a majority of moments when he's Mandalore in legends, but just the little bit on the exact "anniversary" date.
