Topic: Order 66

I wasn't sure if there was a topic specifically on this or not, and my search wasnt yeilding anything, but I am posting this on borrowed time here... I was just so excited!

Ok Karen Traviss' Order 66 comes out today! I got it at Borders on my lunch break and was so happy to find that it was on sale ( same with the force unleashed... both hardcovers :D)

I figured this can be where those who are interested can talk about it, although I am not sure if this in in the correct forum. (move it if you think it fits better elsewhere....)

I didn't even get into the real part of the book, and Im already buzzed! But there is one mistake that I thought was funny! For those that have read the books might be familiar with how KT starts the books off with a list of the main characters. Well they have Etain listed as male. A small thing , yes, but funny to me! I can't wait to read more! Enjoy.

The Force Unleashed is OUT?! I can't wait to read it and Order 66. It sounds great!

I have it preordered, so it should arrive today or tommorow.

I picked it up, and is it just me, or does the new cover suck. Because I REALLY hate it. WAY too cartoon-ish. It should be good, its just ugly to look at.

no likes the cover. books sounds interesting, but i wish to read Death Star, TFU, and the two Bane novels before part 3 comes out.

In October, the original cover will be on the paperback. But I still hate it. It doesn't fit the others AT ALL.

I knew I made the topic.  Might as well continue it here.  But note the cover.  I think the softcover one looks much better.  But I couldn't resist buying the hardcover just because I wanted it so bad.

Sorry Sev... I posted it at work originally (was too excited to wait until i got home) and was in a rush as i didn't want to get into trouble, I thought there was a topic.. but couldn't find it when i did a search for it. Didn't want to steal it from you.

Im currently on ... page 46... and Im enjoying VERY much. I'm trying to slow myself down when reading it so I can savor how much fun it is. ( I have a bad habit of reading SUPER fast so often, even more so when I am excited.) I'll be nice and not spoil anything for anyone in a post.

I agree that the cover is certainly not what I would design. Im tempted to get the paper back just for the different art work. This stuff is... cheap looking... ( come on Terra back me up  here)

There is going to be a third Darth Bane book? I had not heard.. this is good news. I liked the first two. If you didn't love the Sith or the dark side you will after those books. Death Star was interesting, better than I had anticipated, actually.  The quality in SW books has come a long way from Splinter of a Minds Eye. I am waiting until i finish the game of TFU before reading the book, so thats on the shelf... waiting.....

This now means officially I have 105 SW books.... and I am missing so much it seems sometimes.

I'd say you've got the majority of SW books, Si.

And yeah, I'll probably get the paperback just because it looks cooler. Still don't love it, but its better than this.

You might be surprised how many I'm missing. Like all of Legacy...... some of NJO... the list goes on.  But its ok, I enjoy the hunt.

Ok. I've got a lot, not counted them yet, but I don't even think I've got that many. I've got the X--wing Series, part of legacy, about 2/3 of NJO, a bunch of Jude Watsons little books, and others I don't remember. And RepCom. Individual books too.

Finished the book. It was amazing, and I'm DYING to read Imperial Commando, because Order 66 doesn't quite finish everything off.

GAH! Im still a bit behind... i had to work to do today :( and i was playing TFU last night... but so far my sentiments exactly.....amazing.

Yeah, I kind of powered through it yesterday. But my mom offered it to a sick friend, and now I've got nothing to read. If another friend had returned True Colors, I'd be reading that, but alas. Hes had it for a year, too. I need to beat him. Multiple times.

Gee, I haven't got 66 yet, some one stole my Triple Zero book, and no system to play TFU...I have no fun...

Oh, forgot about those. Ummm...I have probably read most books, that just seems like a lot. The Jedi Twilight series (is that the first books title?) is good, but have only read the first, and only the first Darth Bane. I think I've read almost all the major books (that is, the full-length novels, etc). I can't think of much I HAVEN'T read. 105 just seems like a lot.

Have you read the X-Wing Series? Loved those.

W007463!!! I got Order 66. I love the cover, it is way better than the concept cover. When I first saw it I was like "Awesome cover!" I didn't notice it at first, but now that you pointed it out MandoGirl, I checked and it does list Etain as male. Fail.

See, I don't like the hardcover cover. Looks cartoonish, the visor is black, and what rifle is that? A DC-16? Cus it doesn't look like either a 17 or a 15.....anyways, I like the original, now paperback, cover MUCH better. Actually fits the rest of the other covers, kind of.

I really dont care about the cover. Ive only read two pages of Order 66 and I cant put it down. :)

I HATE THE COVER!!!!!! It is totaly out of the spirit R.C. But I LOVE the book. It is so sad at the End.  I literally cried. I can't wait till the 5th book. :D

I love the cover because it's not like the others. He just looks so badass, and I like the ammo counter. Actually, I think it's a DC-17 with an anti-armor attachment. I just finished the book last weekend because I work almost every night after school, and then I have homework, so I can't even play video games or post here, or anything. It sucks.

Don't tease me like that. Cruel Cruel Cruel. But Who ever made it certainly did a nice job. Ah, to dream. Republic Commando is one of a handful of games that I've actually beaten. I love it so. (I actually was playing it the other day...)

Maybe the cover MM posted was actually leaked by the developers at lucas arts. Like they were all told to start comming up with new game concepts, and of course that means coming up with a way to market the idea to those that control which games get developed and which ones get flushed down the drain. This one they loved and is in the art stage.

I too got really emotional at the end of Order 66. I don't remember getting that way over a book before, There are critics of KT out there yes, but If she can get me ( me!) emotionally involved with her characters that much, well then she must have something working for her.

Yeah, she's great like that. But the cover is fan made--VGBox art is a site that makes box are for games already in existence, and also fake covers, such as this one. Unfortunately.

Oh i knew it was fake. Thats why I said *dream sequence*. Its my dream. Esp. since my love for TFU has died as it is unbeatable for me. (Cant get dumb Star Destroyer down... tried  for 45 min. today)

Can you believe I still haven't been able to get a copy of this book! Guess I'll have to order it...

Aside from the events towards the end, I thought it was kinda boring...

Etain's death was so dumb. I wanted to see her die... but to go defending (without a frakking weapon!) some RANDOM clone she doesn't even know was just lame. I thought Etain was smarter than that... I mean, who would really do something so rash mere minutes away from escaping?

I DID want her to die... but I was hoping Niner or someone else would obey Order 66 and kill her on the spot, and Darman would have to choose between his brothers and Etain. THAT would have been epic. Talk about the ultmiate star crossed lovers! I just wish it had been more dramatic. It was so brief and random in my opinion.

It is also disheartening we may never know of Sev's fate... -_-

Indeed. I felt cheated that things went down the way they did because I was hoping for some real questioning to happen around obedience and loyalty. One thing's for sure though; Etain certainly acted loyal until the very end. The poor di'kut didn't have it coming, she ran right into it.

Wasn't it for the Bardan-focalized chapters I'd say this wasn't my favorite book of the series. Triple Zero and True Colors share the top shelf for my personal tastes.

Yea totally think this is my favorite SW book ( and i ve read a few in my time :P) I don't react emotionally to a book like i've reacted to this one. And It wasn't just the first time apparently. Hmm... maybe I do have a soul...

I really liked this book, and it might be my favorite of the series. I think True Colors was the best though.

And I really hope we find out what happens to Sev in Imperial Commando. Vau said he was going to Kashyyyk to look. Sev had better be alive or I'll be mad.....Delta should have said "screw Yoda's orders" and gone back to look for him.
