Hi, I'm going to be making some Star Wars fanfilms in which i have a Mando Bounty hunter, the thing is, she needs a ship.
So my question is, what do you think the ideal bounty hunting ship would be? :)

Sorted by oldest to newestHmmm, i realy think a heavily modified TIE phantom would be sweet, but it has no room for captives. Any sort of freighter or crusier would do, so would medium ships, like corvettes, or shuttles. When you make the films, make sure to put a link or the film itself here.
(GOOD LUCK!)

Slave 1...
but if you want to be original I'd go with some sort of modified transport:
A Transwarp Cruiser would make a great Bounty Hunter ship. It has a clocking device that makes it invisible to even high powered sensors. It can eve fire while staying invisable. It also has two laser cannons on the wings and a multi barreled laser cannon on the front, which is pretty impressive for a ship its size.
Only bad thing is it lacks shields and can't attack to the side, due to all the wepons being up front. I wouldn't worry about those though. Who needs shields when you can go invisible?

-Rampage, Beast Wars
Just hope you dont hit a rock....or something like that. or any micrometiorites with a higher density then your ship's plating,or anything atall.

It can handle just about anything, except an Energon Torch or any other focused, high heat tool.

One could modify any ship to meet the needs of a bounty hunter. Adding more and stronger wepons, armor upgrades. Credits being the only barrier to the bounty hunter.
"Suggestion: Electrocution works well. Evisceration and Decapitation are also effective, or um, so I've heard."

Well, thats good to know. Wouldent want any unproven bounty hunters to get instafroze or anything.

Sweet ship ideas! Thanks guys! I really like that ship pic you posted Alo Fett, looks perfect for my bounty hunter. (statistics and everything!) Why couldn't I have found something like that with my google search I'll never know... :)
Now I just have to figure out whether I'm going to make it a digital ship or build a model and film it in front of a bluescreen... ;)

it would have to be fast manuevarable well shielded and well armed.but also innocous in appearance.

An ARC-170 fighter. Can go toe-to-toe with an X-wing class.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Arc-170
"During the Galactic Civil War, ARC-170s could be found in both Imperial and Rebel fleets, where they were considered elite craft."
"I'm just a simple Fan, trying to make my way in the universe."
I've seen a Tie crawler ( do they even exist? :O :P ) in lego. ( lego model which you can build and look at ) That would be a good land Bounty hunter ship. :D
The 'TIE Crawler' is actually called the 'Century Tank' And its a tank, as in, unable to fly

I saw it in Woolworths and just thought it was kinda funny! :D

A fine ship, but you couldn't capture and transfer bounties from their ship to yours..........or even have a place for prisoners in one could you? Not without serious modifications, at least.
Personally I'd go with the StarViper. It's a serious gunslinger and great dogfighter, yet still has a little room for prisoners, supplies, and sleeping quarters. Not as much as Slave I for sure, but more then an X-Wing or Arc-170 type fighter.
Or, if you want to bring partners into the mix, use 1 or 2 fighters working with a larger craft like a modified transport/freightor. Then you have the kill/capture capabilities the fighters give you with plenty of supplies and prisoner space for long hunts
I think modified freighters would make better bounty hunting ships. The YT series is great for modification, and a freighter would be a little more difficult to kill. More room for prisoners and if need be, allies. Also you could put an escape pod in it, with a fighter you get hit to hard, your dead. I personally like the YT-2000, its very fast, has an escape pod, quad laser cannons (which you might be able to hook up to a targeting computer to make it basicly automated) and plenty of room for the prisoners (with modification of course.) If you had companions, they could man the turrets. Might set you back a bit, but if your a good bounty hunter you can easily make up for it.

Here's the ship I'm using for an RPG, I think it works pretty nice for a bounty hunting ship as it has a strong cloaking system, and is faster than the most ships that can locate it :) Its a LightStealth 18 Reconnaissance Ship: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/LightStealth-18_Reconnaissance_Ship
I would like to modify my own Firespray Class.
Always thought of your ship as something like this CA:
Interrogations are hard...
That looks pretty spiffy, seeing as how the wiki page didn't have a picture. Don't know how big it would be, as it is only a 6 passenger, but I do like the way the ship looks in the picture, Nice find AA :D
It really fits, the Normandy is a stealth ship :D
Yours would definitely be smaller i think, but it might be about the same size....

lol, also nice find Adeptus! :D cool ship!

It's a 3-seater, so you could use one to hold your prisoner. I'd still like a main support craft, though. I think it would be better to have a main support vessel, like a Corvette type of cruiser (I like the ones used by Tyber Zam's Consortium). They have plenty of firepower and support facilities in and of themselves. But also have a couple of ARC-170's and maybe a LaaT/i Gunship in your launch bay as your primary tool vehicles. Gives you flexibility when you need to capture a target. If you don't have personnel working with you, you could purchase some combat droids to serve in those capacities. Like the BL series Legionnaire droids. Each LaaT/i gunship comes with one of those field medic droids, that are on par with a surgeon droid, but are more mobile (they float on repulsors instead of walking), so that could come in real handy in a pinch. Use a droid rear-gunner for the ARC-170. If you need to hit a more heavily defended target, take the gunship full of BL droids to land and take it out. Quite effective. You'd have to have the droids reprogrammed, though, to be more autonomous. Let them think for themselves, learn, and become more creative. Otherwise they're just going to be as crappy as the old Trade Fed Battle Droids. I think that's why I like the BL droids better. Program some specifically as pilots and others to also assist in maintaining the ships. Like having your own small little army or squad.
This is what I kind of had in mind.
"I'm just a simple Fan, trying to make my way in the universe."
that bottom one looks like the pillar of autumn kinda. anyway, the normandy is a really big ship, and although it is stealth, it can only be that way for a few hours, and not in ftl (faster than light) mode. Now that that's out of the way, I think the obvious choice is the slave 1, it is obviously successful. If were only going with sw stuff, I would say the Millenium Falcon, because it is the fastest, i know the yt series was mentioned. Also, the IG-2000, IG-88s ship is very fast and with heavy armor, but no place was described for a dock or prison hold. Of course, although IG-88b was a bounty hunter for an unspecified number of years, it was only a front.
Preybird starfighters are cool yet rare. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Preybird
Or you could just make one up.
Well, the Normandy was just supplied as something I think CA's ship would look like. Fighters are not the type of ship I think that a Bounty hunter should have, many of them are single man crafts.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe a heavy fighter like a StarViper....MAYBE, but nothing smaller; unless your only way to take a bounty in is to tow him with a trackterbeam or something
Medium ship.Too big is ugly.Just try slave models. Its easy to do couse you know what it look like.Or try "wolf" models...well your choice!
This is what my ship might look like if I was to be a fighter and not a bounty hunter, where you would need to have a cargo hold.

urghh!
I would go with a firespray like Slave 1 or a modified clone gunship.
Ok...
We need to specify...
Some of you say fighters some of you say modified freighters some of you have said firesprays and other combat intended vessels...
What you need to realize is that there is a difference between a "Mercenary" Ship, and a "Bounty Hunter" ship.
Since the one who started the message board was interested in a "Bounty Hunter" ship. I would say that she wouldnt need a fighter, and a freighter wouldnt work unless she had the credts to modify it heavily. Hence a firespray or a combat vehicle. I would say that since all vehicles are fictional it would be best if the ship were origional, in that it was something never before talked about.
In a galaxy there are nearly endless capabilities.
I say do some research and find out what a bounty hunter ship NEEDS and create it. If you can't do that ask someone to help you, but don't base it off of what has already been made. Try something new and keep the Star Wars univers alive by contributing something that hasn't been put out there before. It wouldnt have come as far as it has if everyone who came along hadnt contributed a bit more to the dream.
I don't mean to offend anyone but I say invent, and if you cant ask someone to help you invent.
Try to find something origional.

I would say Slave 1. But on search and destroy missions I would have to say a modified tri fighter like Jagged Fel Flew.
I honestly couldn't name an exact ship. But I'd say go with something subtle, but that has a lot of fire power. Maybe a couple blaster cannons and some concussion grenade launchers. A tractor beam and a missile launcher wouldn't be a bad idea either. Think, if you can disable a ship with a concussion missile, and then you grabbed it with the tractor beam and fired a rocket down to finish the ship? That's a pretty effective way of killing off an enemy. By the way, I got this idea from the book Tales From Jabbas Palace.
In the vong wars the jedi used "shadow bombs" or proton torpedos hurled with the force. These were quite effective in that they were hard to track. You could devise a launcher that "hurled" explosive ordnance without constant propulsion and I think it would have much the same effect. Sort of like a catapault because it would not give off an energy signature saying that it was firing, and it would be line of sight which would mean no targeting systems.
Hard to track what you cant see.

MandalMotors Pursuer-class enforcement ship aka slave 2 :D
Slave 1...
but if you want to be original I'd go with some sort of modified transport:
Thats called really bounty hunter ship..
Yes mando IG-88b was a bounty hunter. you can use to make the fan film. it is a great idea. i really appreciate your step which you have taken. Thank you.
I am really surprised of joining discussion about bounty hunter ship . I really wanted to develop a brief remark so as to appreciate you for some of the precious techniques that you’re placing on this website. My extremely long internet lookup has finally been honored with excellent facts and methods to talk about with my classmates and friends. I‘d mention that we readers are rather endowed to exist in an outstanding site with lots of special people with valuable tips. I feel really grateful to have seen all of your forum site and look toward a lot of more pleasurable moments reading here. Thanks once more for all the details.
I think Darth Mauls Sith Infiltrator would make a great bounty hunter ship as it not only has a large cargo hold for keeping prisoners but it also has proper cells. Also it has a cloaking device so this is the ship I think would make a good bounty hunter ship.
I think a ship sort of like Padme' Amidala's personal transport (the Naboo Royal Cruiser) would be cool. Especially if it was heavily modified with lots of weapons because then it would not only be fast, but deadly as well.
I'd go with a theed cruiser it has speed, weapons ,and shields.
You could really pick anything bounty hunter ships are usually custom.
A Firespray as the main ship and a specially modified ARC 170 fighter for simpler tasks. ;-)
An ARC-170 fighter. Can go toe-to-toe with an X-wing class.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Arc-170
"During the Galactic Civil War, ARC-170s could be found in both Imperial and Rebel fleets, where they were considered elite craft."
Problem with ARCs is they don't have any room for hard merchandise so they would be pretty useless to a hunter. It's hard to get your customer to pay you if you can't transport live bounty or evidence of it. As for the ship question, I'd go with a modified Clone Wars LAAT/I Gunship, with upgraded weapons and automatic gun balls so you can go solo.
