Topic: Testing New Database

We're test driving a new database engine for BFFC. If you spot any slowness or errors, please let us know! We're looking out for them to see if the change is all for the best. (If not, we'll roll back to our previous infrastructure and re-evaluate.)

A little slower loading the pages than before, but once you're in it's still the same.

And when I just posted this reply, it did the re-directing page like it does when you log in and out. I don't recall it doing that before.

The initial load we'll keep watching to see if it's temporary or consistent.

The redirect should always be there, even from before any change, but is usually fast.

If you spot anything else, especially on other parts of the site, please bring it up!

I guess the redirect before was so quick I didn't really pay that close attention. Either that or my memory is a wee bit glitchy. ;-)

Progress Report: Collectibles.
1. Tried to open the "Books" tab under the "Collectibles" tab while still on the message boards page. Had been trying to load the page for OVER 2 minutes. Went ahead and halted it.
2. Clicked on the "Collectibles" tab. Loaded slower than before I think, but at least it was under a minute.
3. Clicked on the "Books" tab while on the Collectibles page. Same results as 1.
4. "My Bounty": took about a minute, but loaded successfully.
5. "Apparel": took 2 minutes, loaded.
6. Gave "Books" a third try. 3 minutes passed by and the page was still trying to load so I gave up yet again.
7. "Media": took just shy of 2 minutes, loaded successfully.
8. "Print": 2 minutes, loaded successfully.
9. "Toys": just shy of 3 minutes, loaded successfully.
10. "Unique": 2 minutes, loaded successfully.
Overall, "Collectibles" and its sub-categories are SLOW to load. However, the discussion board pages load in a snap.

Sorry that's taking so long. Much too long.

We've changed it back to the way it was. We'll figure out some other related upgrades in the meantime.
