Carbine was not that surprised by the flirting manner of one of the Imperials, there were a lot of single men on Naltoon after all. It just surprised Carbine that he was being so flirty before she’d even told him the price of the Areeba Twelve. She figured he’d want a stiff drink after signing the contract. It was pretty well known that troopers didn’t get paid that exuberantly on Naltoon, on the flip side there wasn’t a lot for them to spend their money on anyway.

Carbine smiled and brushed a few of her black wayward curls away from her emerald eyes, then placed an arm around the trooper who was interested in the speeder, “Well my friend let me get the contract and then I’ll take you out for a drink. How does that sound?”

Although both troopers had helmets on Carbine could see that the other trooper was clearly surprised that she’d taken up the potential buyer’s offer. She guessed that he was probably butt ugly under the helmet. “So then stranger, what’s your name?”

Name: Carbine Lennox
Affiliation: Neutral
Occupation: Speeder Salesperson
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Weapons: Hydro-spanner

Carbine Lennox had been rubbing her hands together since the Empire had come to Naltoon. She’d sold more speeders each month than she had previously in a year. The credits were rolling in but for some reason Carbine just wanted more.

Although the city was alive with battle, Carbine had smelt the chance for more credits. Her riding around seemed to be paying off, she grinned as she saw a pair of Imperials looking at the blasted remains of an older speeder. There was money to be made.

“Gentlemen, it appears that you have a dilemma. I may be able to assist.” Carbine told as she stepped off her shiny new Areeba Twelve speeder. “I have this lovely new speeder that really is under utilised in my care. It has compartments for extra weapons, but of course it already has two semi-automatic blasters mounted conveniently...”

“Just a sec, we’re in the middle of a war zone and you’re trying to sell us a speed?” One of the Imperials asked.

Carbine shrugged, “Can’t knock a girl for trying.”

((Sorry for my absence))

"Very well then, let us return. Perhaps we should walk away from each other making enough distance to seem as though we are not travelling together." Nexia suggested.

Ralin shook his head, "It could be an easy way to pick us off."

"Good point, what weapons do you have? I'm assuming it would be best if we avoid using our lightsabres." Nexia said as her hand immediately moved away from the weapon she often sort comfort from.

It's been a while since I played on but I'd have to say Medal of Honour.

“I am here alone, I was told that this was a possible meeting place for the Jedi but I’m yet to come across any, well other than yourself. However every so often I get the sense that there are others here.” Nexia said with a wistful sigh.

“Oh by the way my name is Nexia. I just realized that I was yet to introduce myself. Have either of you come across any others? I mean ones who are still alive.”

Nexia let out a breath, “I’m sorry I was recalling the past. Like you I don’t have particularly pleasant memories of it. I’m glad you wish to help us but I think the Jedi are a dying breed.”

(Sorry for the short post)

The shock of seeing the Mandalorian clone had surprised Nexia out of her usual calm. With the insistent reminder about danger Nexia immediately found her balance. She’d never been good at masking her Force powers but it was a skill she was going to have to quickly master.

“Where should we go?” Nexia asked quietly as they boarded a speeder. She had no idea who it belonged to.

“We don’t need to discuss details right now,” the hooded man told.

Nexia nodded and was thrown back into her seat as the Mandalorian let out the throttle. She eyed him warily but she felt no malice from him through the Force.

“So my friend, do you have a name?” she said to the hooded man.

*That's okay Adeptus, but you'll be the last to have Force powers*

Nexia found herself touching the black tattoo under her left eye, it was a nervous habbit she had but somehow she found it soothing to touch her Kiffar tattoos. She lowered her hand, "Danger is everywhere my friend, why would things be worse here?"

"There is little privacy to talk," the hooded figure told her.

Nexia smiled slightly, she knew that this being was a Force sensative and by the waves of power rolling off him it was clear he was trained to use the Force. "Sometimes being in a crowd can be the safest place a being can be."

"And sometimes it's not," he replied sounding a little impatient.

Nexia nodded and conceeded his point, "So where do you wish to go?"

To answer a few questions, we’ll leave it as Taris as I’m sure it was probably rebuilt some time after the original KOTOR. There’s a fairly big gap between KOTOR time and Order 66.

I think Ralin can be counted as a Jedi. I never specified if they were still with the Jedi Order at the time of Order 66, I’m sure Vader would be hunting any skilled Force sensitives.

Onward…

Nexia was disappointed when the bartender shrugged, “Jobs as freighter pilots are few and far between at the moment. Now passenger transporters around the local districts are in demand.”

Nexia wrinkled her nose at the idea. She really didn’t want to be exposed to too many different people. She was trying to lay low. But sometimes being out in the open was a way to hide. Nexia felt something at that moment, she’d sensed something as she’d entered the bar but it had disappeared. “I think I’ll pass on the passenger transporter job. But thanks anyway.”

Nexia turned around and scanned the bar as subtly as she could. The bar was relatively empty for this time of the day. A man sat in a black cloak and for a moment Nexia found herself hoping it was another Jedi. That hope soon waned when the man looked at her piercingly. Nexia smiled weakly then looked away. Taris was certainly less than friendly.

“You going to order?” The bartender asked with a brisk tone.

“Yeah, give me a Sullustian special.” Nexia said as she moved to a corner booth. Through habit she sat with her back to the wall.

Let's start with the Rules:

1. You may create any character you want.  Clarify their name and species so others can follow their actions easily.

2. You can kill characters you create but you can't kill other people's characters unless they say they have been killed in battle with you. However you can wound them.

3. You can have any weapon you want but you can only have what your character could physically carry - otherwise they wouldn't be able to move.

4. Be consistent, eg if someone says they blew up a building, don't suddenly be assaulting it.

5. If you have sustained many wounds you will have to either get medical help or eventually die. Jedi need to limit Force Healing to even things up.

6. Follow the storyline, sure add a few twists and turns but allow others to see where you want to go so they can help you get there.

7. Have fun.

And now for the plot:

It’s been three months since Order 66 was given and the remaining Jedi are high on the wanted lists. Bounty hunters are rolling up to take on the work in the areas that the Clone Army is scarce in.

There are whispers of four Jedi being hidden on Taris, some say they are living in the underworld facilities and other suggest that they are living on the surface.

Characters:

Please feel free to be a Jedi (maximum of four – I plan to be one), a bounty hunter, a clone commando (one team only) or a local to Taris.

-

Name: Nexia Meddle
Race: Kiffar
Gender: Female
Occupation: Jedi Knight
Age: 24
Weapon: Purple lightsabre with silver handle ornately etched
Appearance: Dark hair that is finely plaited to look almost like dreadlocks. Has a darker complexion and a black tattoo under each eye. Normally wears Jedi robes, but since she is on the run she has taken to wearing dark grey flight suits.
History: Was accepted into the Jedi Academy as a toddler. She managed to evade Order 66 by the skin of her teeth and met up with three other Jedi. She wonders about the wisdom of staying together.
Personality: Generally calm and calculating. Enjoys a good laugh and is a little more flexible than regular Jedi, she could quite happily live as regular civilian – at least most of the time.

Nexia looked up to the sky as she wandered the markets on Taris. This was not her ideal hiding place but at least it was free of the Clone Army and the new Empire, although she suspected that such a time would be short lived.

For now it was Nexia’s task to get food supplies. She had some credits but she was beginning to realise that she was going to have to look for a job. She no longer had the Jedi Council funding her needs. Perhaps she should look for work as a freighter pilot.

It seemed that Desdemona had been forgotten as she stood back and watched the unveiling of Mr Anasazi. The villain was so busy with his monologue to Jack that he seemed to have forgotten that she was also there. But then Desdemona had bothered fighting, she’d been studying. If another fight was to break out she would assist Jack.

Desdemona shifted slighted and slowly reached out her fingers to touch the smooth side of his lower right arm. Jack looked over his shoulder and gave her a wink, it seemed that he had not forgotten that she was there.

The mention of Voidhunter made Desdemona stand a little straighter, “Voidhunter is no more,” she said and watched as the others seemed to remember that she was there.

In the past Desdemona would have found the sensation of being shot rather intriguing, right now though she was very glad to have the rapid healing factor as the bullets popped out of their wound tracks as her body healed.

Jack seemed very mad that she had been shot and she had to remember that she was no longer a spectre of a being. She was flesh and blood, something that she should not forget.

Desdemona studied her opponent who studied her in return. He seemed to be trying to gage her powers. Desdemona knew the best defence was surprise so she merely stood her ground as she watched him watching her. She was listening to Jack and Jericho’s banter in the background but her real attention was on Mr Anasazi.

Although Mr Anasazi seemed to get bored with her and turned on Jack, Desdemona didn’t really know why she stood and watched. Probably because real life and the feelings that came with it were so foreign. She felt her heart pumping strongly and her chest felt tight.

The explosion knocked her to the ground but her healing factor quickly rendered any wounds healed. She stood up and saw what the others saw, Mr Anasazi wasn’t quite human. But then none of them really were. Desdemona tightened her hands into fists and called to the underworld power, she felt it burn up her arms and through her body giving her extreme strength. With a move that surprised all she threw Mr Anasazi into the nearest wall. She turned to Jack, “I’m assuming that Mr Anasazi is what they call a jerk?”

Desdemona was confused, this world was very odd to her. "That's odd aren't you always healthy due to your healing?"

Jack shrugged, “I’d assume so but I trust the doc, he’s got his reasons for doing his tests.”

Desdemona still studied Jack with a puzzled look but she decided not to dwell on it any further. She moved to take Jack’s hand so she could lift his arm. The pin prick from the needle had already healed. “Does he regularly take your blood?”

Desdemona looked back at Jack, “B-List? Class A act? I don’t understand.”

“Okay I was considered a meagre super but these days I’ve since proved my worth,” Jack said trying to explain it in terms Dessie would understand.

“Ah, I see.” Then she turned to Jack very seriously, “I’ve never considered you meagre. You were very strong, especially to be able to fight off Magnus. He was very powerful.”

Jack chuckled a little forcefully, “Yeah, Magnum. Piece of cake.”

Again Desdemona was confused, “Magnus? Cake?”

Desdemona took a moment to answer Jack, “It’s rather overwhelming at the moment. My emotions seem so erratic compared to what they were.”

Jack looked rather interested, “Go on.”

“When I was a soul eater, I felt fleeting emotions. They were almost echoes of true emotions. It has been a very long time since I was last human. I had forgotten what it is like to have emotions. They can make rational thought difficult at times.” Desdemona told as she ran a hand through her hair and looked back out the window. She felt a distinct feeling of awkwardness. Her chest was tightening, her mouth felt dry and Jack was looking at her in a way that was making her feel hot.

“I gave up rationality some time ago,” Jack said with a chuckle as he pulled his eyes away from Dessie to look at the road.

Desdemona laughed gently, it was lilting and light. It was the first time she’d laughed in centuries, “That’s what I like about you Jack. You’re different.”

Desdemona turned her head to look at Jack, “Okay,” she said in answer to his question about testing out her powers.

With no effort, Desdemona started to lift off the ground. Jack kept hold of her hand until she lifted him off the ground too. She was surprised at his weight, she hadn’t had a problem carrying him before the transformation. Her brow furrowed with effort, “You’re heavier than I remember.”

“Hey I work out, there’s not an ounce of fat on me.” Jack boasted.

Desdemona looked up then boosted her strength with underworld power. She managed to fly higher and lift Jack up to hold him against her rather than below her.

“You got stronger all of a sudden,” Jack said sounding partially startled.

“I used some underworld energy,” Desdemona informed him.

“Oh,” Jack replied and was about to ask her what else underworld energy did but he was distracted. “Can we fly over there? I see Chromium, he’s shiny under street lights.”

“Sure,” Desdemona said as she held Jack close, the feel of him against her drove her wild.

Desdemona had to take a few deep breaths as they landed, emotions were running riot through her.

Desdemona studied the menu as her tummy growled. The sensation was so unfamiliar, but then so was almost everything else.

A smile crept across Desdemona’s face as she thought of the kiss she’s shared with Jack. It had been so much better in human form. Her emotions had been so erratic and wild. She looked up at Jack from her menu and he was studying her.

“What are you smiling about?” He asked as he smiled back.

“I’ll tell you later,” Desdemona said and finally picked something from the menu. “Can I have a hamburger with pineapple and fries.”

The waitress took the menus and Desdemona didn’t know what to do with her hands. Jack fixed that by reach out to take them in his. “So what’s it like being human again?”

“I feel bombarded with sensations and emotions. It’s been so long since I’ve had them at full capacity.” Desdemona told as she looked at all the things around her.

“No, I meant, what happens to you?” Jack clarified.

Desdemona opened her mouth to answer him however she stopped as she saw a dark cloud bloom before her. It swirled and grew into a dark cloaked figure that only she could see. Death had come to pay a visit. Desdemona bowed immediately, “My Lord.”

Jack stared at her puzzled, “You don’t have to call me that.”

Desdemona stayed low until her master spoke, “You have given me the essence of Voidhunter and Darklight. This is not what you were sent here to retrieve, however I see it fit that you have completed your quota.”

Desdemona didn’t answer so she waited for Death to continue.

“Dessie, you can get up.” Jack said as he moved towards her. His hand reached for her arm but once again she was intangible.

“She’s as bigger freak as you,” Burnout said with an amused chuckle.

“Rise Desdemona,” Death commanded. Desdemona complied. “You have completed more than just your initial quota, this was part of our deal for you to return to the human world. Since you have exceeded your quota I will allow you to take three of your powers into the human world. However do not forget that you are still bound by my law.”

“Yes, my Lord.” Desdemona answered with a bowed head.

“Dessie, you’re freaking me out here,” Jack said looking at her like she was loosing it.

Death looked upon the two mortals, “Explain to them.”

Desdemona turned to Jack, “There are many things I can see beyond the human world that you can not see since you are mortal. Death stands before me and I must show him respect.”

Jack and Burnout’s jaws dropped. “Oh okay,” Jack replied as he looked at Burnout.

“What powers do you wish to retain?” Death asked Desdemona.

“Flight, the ability to become tangible or intangible and the ability to use underworld energy,” Desdemona requested.

“I cannot grant you the ability to become tangible or intangible, as that is a soul eater’s trait. You must choose something else.” Death informed her.

Desdemona thought for a moment then turned to Jack. “You heal fast don’t you?”

“Yes, but it’d be nicer if it was faster. Um why do you ask?” Jack said thinking this a very weird situation to be in.

“Death has granted me the choice of three powers in my human state. I was choosing what I want.” Desdemona informed him.

“Extremely rapid healing ability,” Jack said forcefully, he wanted his Dessie to be safe.

“Very well then, my last choice is extremely rapid healing ability,” Desdemona stated to Death.

“Very well then,” Death said as a shadow like hand moved from under the flowing robes. Desdemona was raised into the air. She closed her eyes and heat intensified, light consumed dark until she felt as though she burnt with the power of the sun. Then she was gently placed upon the ground.

Her hands felt the textures of the pavement beneath them. She felt the temperature of the weather on her skin. She felt her heart beating, her chest moving with each breath. Then she felt emotions, strong and powerful. She opened her eyes to look up at Jack and felt such and overwhelming sense of longing that she knew she’s made the right decision to seek him out. She stood on wobbly legs, “Jack I’m human.”

At the sight of Void Desdemona felt a jolt go through her body, her emotions were starting to wake up once more. Her hand reached for Jack’s, “This is like a prelude to their return.”

Jack was surprised at her grip on his hand. Desdemona closed her eyes and laid her head back. Jack watched as she turned translucent. He immediately grabbed harder at her hand which was fading along with the rest of her, “Don’t go!” Jack said with more desperation than he realised.

Desdemona opened her eyes and looked back at Jack. “I was searching for Void. I wanted to know if he was on this plane yet.”

“Stay with me,” Jack repeated but this time it was a command.

Desdemona raised a brow, “It’s unlike you to be so serious.”

If Desdemona had been capable of laughter she would have chuckled at Jack. But since emotions were all but a fleeting memory Desdemona simply answered, “You did that, Jack.”

Jack scratched his head, “Oh yeah I did.”

“You are most peculiar at times, Jack.” Desdemona commented as she tilted her head slightly to study him.

“I like it when you say my name,” Jack said with a smile as he slipped his sword back into its sheath.

“Jack,” Desdemona said to please him.

Jack smiled and closed his eyes, he quickly opened them again. “I can’t believe you’re here,” Jack said as he reached out to touch her. His hands encircled her upper arms and he drew her close. “I feel like I’m dreaming.”

“I don’t remember how to dream,” Desdemona said quietly.

“But what about between soul collecting? What do you do?” Jack asked still holding her close.

“I return to the underworld and rest. I would not call it sleep though,” Desdemona informed him.

“I’m just glad your back, dreams can only take you so far.” Jack said with a knowing smile.

Desdemona did not understand his meaning. “As I recall you could do anything in your dreams.”

Jack’s thumbs stroked the skin on her arms gently, “Some things are much better in reality.”

Desdemona nodded, “That can be true, although some things can be worse.”

“Not when it comes to you Dessie,” Jack said as he leant forward, moving his face closer to hers.

Desdemona was unsure of what he was doing until his lips brushed against hers. Sadly her emotions were so minimal that she only felt a small tingle at his touch. She sighed and Jack seemed to take it as a positive response as he deepened the kiss. Desdemona raised her hand to cup Jack’s face, she gently pushed him away.

“No?” he asked looking confused.

Desdemona looked at him awkwardly, “My feelings are less then when I last saw you.”

“You mean you don’t like me anymore?” Jack said looking as though she’d just ripped out his heart.

“No, I mean that my humanity is further from my grasp so I feel less.” Desdemona tried to explain.

Jack still looked hurt, “So why are you here?”

“I had a soul to retrieve. That is now done but I felt something. I think Void is going to resurface from where ever he went.” Desdemona informed Jack.

Jack started to jump up and down clapping his hands, “This is great! This means you get to be human again!”

“Possibly,” Desdemona said cooling his enthusiasm.

“What do you mean possibly? I thought he completed your quota,” Jack said in confusion.

“I made a new deal, remember? I don’t know if the old one still stands.” Desdemona said telling Jack of her dilemma

“So what are you going to do?” Jack asked.

“I still intend to collect Void’s soul, it’s my duty.” Desdemona answered.

Jack stared at her for a moment and changed the subject. “So where’d you get that outfit?”

“I morphed it on. I was trying to blend in with this time period.” Desdemona told then blinked, “Is it inappropriate?”

Jack looked her up and down for the longest time, “If you were at my place I’d say no, but in public it’s a little revealing.”

“What do you suggest I wear?” Desdemona asked.

Desdemona opened her mouth to release the soul she had consumed. She watched the soul return to earth and down to the underworld. She prepared to also depart however something made her pause. A faintly familiar feeling touched her but she couldn’t identify what it was.

The transparent soul eater hovered as she reached out with her senses. Something was changing, shifting and coming to the surface. But what was it?

Desdemona flew higher into sky and froze, “Void.” There was only the faintest trace of him but Desdemona knew it was him. But where was he?

Lowering herself to the ground Desdemona studied the people around her. She changed her clothing to look similar to those around her. She morphed a low cut white button up blouse, short denim skirt, black stockings and ankle high black boots with extremely high heels. Desdemona allowed herself to fully materialise so others could see her. Little did she know that she was in one of the seedier parts of Mission City.

As she walked in the direction she had last sensed Void she heard some wolf whistles and someone pinched her on the backside. She coolly turned and stared at the culprit.

“How much, baby?” he asked with a leering smile.

Desdemona raised a delicate brow, “I’m only interested in your soul and you’re certainly not ready yet.”

A bunch of guys burst into laughter and the leering man quickly backed up and moved onto a more accommodating woman.

As Desdemona walked she lost any trace of Void. She sighed as a touch of emotion reached her. She was going to have to stay if Void was near and there was one person she intended to visit, this time in the flesh. Once again she dematerialised and locked onto Jack’s presence and appeared before him. She solidified and noticed that his jaw dropped as he looked at her. “Hello again, Jack.”

Desdemona was homing in on her next marked soul when she felt a disturbance. Jack was hurt and hurt bad. Desdemona immediately deviated from her path and headed to Jack. A woman with scales was screaming and shouting as she cradled Jack’s body. As Desdemona landed she realised that Jack was not going to die. There were no other Soul Eaters present. His healing factor would save him again.

However Desdemona did not wish to miss this opportunity to communicate with Jack. She stood back and closed her eyes. When she opened them she was in Jack’s unconscious thoughts. “Jack,” she said quietly.

Jack had his back to her but quickly turned around, “Dessie!”

Desdemona made her way towards him and was taken into his embrace. Desdemona raised a hand to touch his face. “This meeting can only be brief.”

“I don’t care,” Jack said as he held her, “I’m just glad you’ve come back.”

“I can’t stay you’re not going to die.” Desdemona said frankly.

“This isn’t a dream is it?” Jack asked as he breathed in her scent.

Desdemona shook her head, “I have a soul to collect here in Mission City. I sensed your distress and came to check on you.”

“Why can’t you stay?” Jack asked.

“I haven’t filled my quota.” Desdemona replied as she stroked a stray lock of his hair away from his eyes.

“But I thought you were going to make a deal with Death,” Jack said in confusion.

“I did but I’ve got to replace Void’s soul with 200 others.” Desdemona told him.

Jack gasped, “Man how long is that going to take?”

“I don’t know. It could be months, years or even decades.” Desdemona said as she studied his face.

“No,” Jack said as he shook his head.

Desdemona looked up, “You’re healing and you’ll wake very soon.”

“Can I see you in the flesh, so to speak?” Jack asked knowing he probably sounded desperate.

Desdemona started to turn translucent and Jack was losing his grip on her, “Desdemona?”

“Live well, Jack.” Desdemona said as she felt herself fade.

Character: Desdemona
Affiliation: Neutral – soul eater
Age: Unknown as she’s neither dead nor alive
Appearance: Blonde woman looking to be in her mid twenties. Her straight hair is worn down with a part in the middle. She wears a sleeveless cream dress that touches her toes. Over this she wears a black velvet cloak.
Personality: Desdemona is a servant to Death. Her purpose is to return errant souls or troublesome entities back to the underworld. She is summoned when a dark soul is released from its captivity.

Desdemona raised her head from the dark sleep. It was time yet again. She had another soul to retrieve. Part of her was weary of it all, mainly because she’d been so close to having a chance at life once again only this time she would have had someone wonderful to share it with.

However that had not eventuated. The last soul she had to collect to fill her quota had eluded her. Void had somehow gone to another plane of existence. Her chance at becoming human once more was extinguished for who knows how long.

She had gone to Death to renegotiate the terms of her quota. It hadn’t been a good deal, Death didn’t like to be cheated out of a soul that should have been his. Her deal was to collect 200 souls in Void’s place. She was up to 174 but it could be years before she collected the remaining souls allocated to her. They never died at exactly the same time. Her only shortcut was to find Void once more, but chances of that were slim to none.

Desdemona floated into the air, up into the sky. Her form was invisible to anyone alive, as she was hidden from view by her own will. Desdemona had many powers, as she was undead and had virtually no limits to what she could do. But since Death couldn’t have rogue Soul Eaters there were rules and boundaries that Desdemona had to conform to.

She had been unable to visit Jack. None of the souls she had to consume had been anywhere near Mission City. However this time it was different. Desdemona could feel it. Even if she couldn’t reach Jack physically she’d find him in his dreams. Even being almost devoid of all emotion, Desdemona found herself missing Jack.
