Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Ok I read something today, an newsletter announcement article about the Clone Wars, and I found the propaganda overwhelming in it. Mind you, I ENJOYED the Clone Wars, but the obviousness of Lucas' pandering was rampant. What bothered me most of all was that they described the director as being a big SW fan with "encyclopedic knowledge" when there were some very big mistakes in my eyes made. A true encyclopedia would know how Jedi have gotten their apprentices for millennia, instead of just making up a new thing, that I for one will be ignoring.

Plus just in time for holiday consumerism there will be a Clone Wars game released for the Wii and the DS, involving lightsaber combat. I will wait to see if it can be 1/2 as good as i think the dueling feature on TFU will be.

Does it suck as much as it looks like it does Si?

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Encyclopedic Knowledge? Then why did he make a Hutt speak Basic? Why did they keep saying Jabba and Ziro are of the "Hutt Clan" instead of the Disilijic T'jure Clan?

I'm thinking the padawan getting was special cause of the war. Remember, Anakin got to be a Knight in an odd way in the old CW.

And, AA, it's actually really good. You should at give it a chance anyway. Remember, I'm the one who kept saying "Doom! Doooom!" before it came out, and now I've gone to see it twice and can't wait to see it a third time.

HA! There are SOOOO ways around that A_A.  I was all set to say it sucked to, but its really not THAT bad. There are a lot of good things about the movie too besides my whining.

Besides, what kind of good SW fans would we be if we didn't whine and complain about almost every aspect of the newest movie in-between viewings? big_smile

Yes they can.  I looked it up in the new guide to alien species.  And it pains me to admit that because I was in the same boat as you.

But here's an interesting article from the Star Wars Homing Beacon.

I even have the alien guide. I have both the old and the new, I could have looked that up myself. That is sorta painful to admit isn't it. For me too I mean. Actually, I just went and read the entry and I don't see any mention of language? Did I miss it?

The ten list is great! I had actually read the list before my second viewing and made sure to look for them, I missed a few cause I forgot but otherwise caught the rest.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

*Sigh*

Well I went to watch this friday and honestly, It didnt impress me. Enless your a big star wars fan (or a five year old) I wouldent recommend it. When if first started with the 'A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...' and the combat chatter was getting all intense i was drifting to the edge of my seat getting pumped up..before the corny dialoge set in and started ticking me off.

Honestly, the only parts I enjoyed were when the Clones were in action.

Alot of the talking was corny, (such as anikan, his padawan and a bit of Obi-wans mainly)

The droids were a bit on the incompetent side but they were pretty funny. They were the second best part of the move.

And just the overall story was pretty crudy, I mean come on the ending with Jabba reunited with his sun was ******* gay! hes supposed to be a crime lord god dang it! Not a lovaable father. (Not to mention the huttese he was speaking didnt sound right). Director Filoni (spelling?) needs a swift kick in his ballz for not reconizing it on the spot.

When It comes to SW stuff, Im pretty accepting of fault, but this is cutting it to close even for me. George Lucas needs to STOP watering it down for ******* 5 year olds, and bring in somthing the adult fans can enjoy.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

watched it today, i actually liked it more than i thought i would. yes some of the dialogue was cheesy, maybe a different director would've made it better, but it wasn't bad.

Hmm.  You probably did not miss it as I read it over at Chapters.  This must have been me imagining things.  I'll have to do some more research on this.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

I have not read all or even most of the posts. But I just wanted to give my 2 cents. I might not even check up on this again so you don't HAVE to reply.
I think Lucas is doing the same thing he's been doing since ep6 when he used ewoks instead of wookies because they would sell better. What I am saying is that for Lucas this is all about the money. He likes it and knows how to make it. Most people my age 17-18 and up are not buying that much SW stuff and most of us fans of the original SW are getting "to old" for the toys. Now there are some fans that will always be buying star wars stuff, but they will be fans no matter what Lucas does so he could care less about them. So what must Lucas now do to get people baying again? Easy make a new star wars for a new generation. You may have noted that most us the older fans don't like the clone wars so much, yeah its fun and has some good action but most of us would like it better if it was not cannon. But everyone 14 and under I know LOVE the new clone wars and can't help but buy ever action figure, toy lightsaber and wii/ds game they can get their hands on. Lucas knows who is going to buy and when. Not that Lucas ONLY cares about money...but it is what makes him do things like ewoks, clone wars, and the upcoming tv shows. I don't blame him and I can't wait to see the tv shows I mean would you pass up a opprtunity like that? Didn't think so.
As I said just my 2 cents my own opinion you do not have to agree or disagree.

I'm 21. My husband is 31. We both love it.

And why shouldn't kids have something about SW for them? Don't we want another generation of fans? And besides, kids DO need something good to watch, all they have is garbage right now.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

You've got a good point there, Miba. If George Lucas can make some money off this Clone Wars so much the better.

Like he really needs the money, GL really needs to step it up.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

No, it's a crack on Hannah Montana and all of those retarted cartoons that are out now that kids love. I personally don't watch cartoons, I never liked them, but I will watch The Clone Wars. I will probably see the movie too but not until it's a DVD.

Me too. I don't like his voice at all, I was surprised when I realized that was Plo Koon talking!

Same here. I always thought of his voice like the one in the Obi-Wan video game that came out a LONG time ago with the release of TPM.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

I never really figured he had a voice similar to any human... it doesn't even sound like he's speaking through the face-thingy.

Yeah in the Obi-Wan game it makes him sound like he's speaking through it so his voice is weird and not human-like. I;m still glad that GL is going to show more about some Jedi that we've seen in the movies and don't know much about, like Koon and Kit Fisto, along with more of the clones. I think Captain Rex's dyed hair is stupid looking though.
