I haven't had much oppurtunity to play myself but my father was on the chess team when he was in high school.

I can play. I'm alright, but I'm not great. I can beat the computer on level 1 and sometimes on level 2. (I mean the little chess game Vista came with that has 10 levels of hardness)

I play competatively, but I haven't been ranked yet, I'm hoping to get that done this year.

I admire anyone who can. I have tried to learn MANY times and it never seems to stick. I am better with a cheet sheet telling me what can move where. SO I guess that makes me a NO.

I have this little computer chess game. Its called 'The New York Times; Chess deluxe.' by Excalibur It has the moves of the best chess players in the world today in its database. Its very hard to beat. But I have beaten it.
The internet chess games, I can beat into the ground though.

Oh man, this topic just made me do a 30 minute search of my massive pile of disks. I actually have my Battle Chess disk in my hand right now. It's not loaded on my pc right now, but it definately will be soon. I actually learned how to play (and love) chess from playing against the computer for hours.
