Have you ever wondered how Jango Fett got the job as the clone template from Darth Tyranus? Not the “common” story that everyone talks about, but the real nitty-gritty? Dark Horse comics recently distributed Star Wars Tales #24, the last issue of the series.

Star Wars Tales has consistently put out entertaining short stories throughout its two-year run. Some of the stories were based in the Expanded Universe continuity and some were purely for fun. One issue was actually dedicated entirely to the Fett man himself.

In this tongue-in-cheek story, entitled “Fett Club,” which focuses on Jango Fett, we see how our hero “really” gets the job as Darth Tyranus’ right hand man. In what starts off as an obvious nod to “Fight Club,” we get all the rules for membership into Fett Club. The challengers — all clad in Mandalorian armor — range from the biggest, the baddest, and the nerdiest of the galaxy all the way to an Ewok. As Jango proceeds to “explain” the rules to the challengers, all those Jar Jar haters finally get their wish when we find out probably the most important rule of Fett Club. NO GUNGANS. EVER. There are even some in-jokes that fans of Monty Python will immediately recognize and appreciate.

For those who want to read more of Boba and Jango’s stories in the Star Wars Tales series, pick up issues 6, 7, 8, 11, 18, and 24.

[EDITOR’S NOTE: Fortunately, these rules do not apply for The Boba Fett Fan Club.]
