Topic: star wars radio drama

http://www.youtube.com/user/StarWarsAudioDramas

so, did anyone else know the OT were adapted into radio dramatizations? with all the sounds and music from the films, along with extra scenes and whatnot? it... it's interesting. a lot of people seem to love it, i just started listening to it right now. i do like the voice-over for the opening crawl, the same thing as they're doing now with the clone wars.

edit: i like this a lot more than i expected. the extra scenes are what george lucas originally had in plan for the films, and they give more character description, and the music is placed really well.

Re: star wars radio drama

I knew about them, I just never listened to them before.

I believe there's also a Dark Empire I and II radio dramatization.

Re: star wars radio drama

it would be interesting if they redid a new hope to accommodate the meeting between jabba and han at docking bay 94.

Re: star wars radio drama

I heard about it once. Its seems interisting and strange, but then, I grew up in such a different time. I might give it a listen some day.

Re: star wars radio drama

just got past han solo's torture part. there's a bit of dialogue between Boba (voiced by Alan Rosenburg) and Lando, and now that i imagine that part in my head, it makes sense too, looking at the way they are before Vader emerges from the torture room.

Re: star wars radio drama

I remember a time when Star Wars was on the radio but it was more like background extra scenes that added to dimension to what was going with "A New Hope" shortly after it came out in 1977. This was in the early 1980s.

Re: star wars radio drama

yeah I've heard them before, they're not bad. I think somewhere along the lines they were released on Cd maybe?

Anthony Daniels  did his vocal parts and more if I recall what I've seen on it. I was wondering where I could find it on the web.

I was a kid when these were broadcasted. I was eleven when these were broadcasted! Thank you so very much for bringing this topic up again. I have been in heaven listening to them.

So it goes to show you there is nothing wrong with bringing old topics back.

As I listened to these a wanted to cry. I was so touched.  It just took me back to a place, a time and a psychological space that I have not experienced since I was a kid.
I was born in 1970 so these radio shows are a big part of my childhood memory.

Thank you so, so, so very much for bringing this topic up.

Please someone hand me a tissue...

Also, does anyone know if these are available on CD?

Re: star wars radio drama

yes they are available on CD, i myself an looking to collecting them. the only actors to return from the films were mark hamill (replaced in return of the jedi) anthony daniels, and billy dee williams. harrison ford was busy doing raiders of the lost ark at the time of the first one, and they liked the dude doing his voice so they kept him, carrie fisher like disappeared on the face of the planet, and that's about it.

Re: star wars radio drama

Where have you found the CDs? I looked on Amazon and couldn't find anything? Maybe I am searching for the wrong thing?
