Re: BFFC at San Diego Comic Con 2009

You have no idea how badly I want to go! Especially since my boyfriend can get us both free passes. Unfortunitly, due to circumstances, I cannot go to California. And even then, my parents would never give me permission to go to a con.

If I'm not there, it's because I'm dead........ or broke, which COULD happen, but I've got vode here in down I can split the hotel bills with, so I should be there - IN armor!   big_smile big_smile big_smile

Re: BFFC at San Diego Comic Con 2009

I will be there, and we should definitely meet up. I will only be there on the 26th (sunday), though. Unfortunately, I have no costume, I'll probably just be wearing a marvel shirt.

Re: BFFC at San Diego Comic Con 2009

Sorry, ner vod.  Won't be able to make it this year around.  It's a shame.  They have those Ralph McQuarrie Boba Fett mini-busts for sale this year.  Wouldn't mind picking one of those up.  The wife and I went to visit her family up in Wisconsin earlier this year (although I did get to stop by Riverside, Iowa on the way back and see the "Future birthplace of Capt. Jame T. Kirk," but that's a different story).  Also, some of my friends and I are all heading out to Myrtle Beach for a week next month, so I don't have enough vacation time saved up to do them all this year.  Although, I am trying to see if I can squeeze in Dragon Con this year, since it's a little closer to home.  We were supposed to go there last year, but the hotel screwed up our reservation and had us reserved for the following month.  Good thing I called ahead to confirm before we left.  Of course, everything else was filled up by that time, since it was two days before the Con.  Ticked me off big time.  Oh well.  We are hoping to hit the San Diego Con next year, though.  Either that or my wife wants to go to the WonderCon, in San Francisco.  Take some good pics for us, though, if you guys head out there this year.

Re: BFFC at San Diego Comic Con 2009

the comic con has been a sore subject all around this year.
actually might have found a way in, but it sold out two month back...which is unheard of to me.
but if i get in there i will document.  as far as wondercon next time ill meet you there smile

Re: BFFC at San Diego Comic Con 2009

Unfortunately, my ride decided to not go to San Diego, which means I won't be going. There is no way my 1970 Ford is going to make it 2,000 miles in the summer heat. So, I had to retract my bid on his and my ticket. I will, however, be making the shorter drive to PAX this year, in Seattle.

Re: BFFC at San Diego Comic Con 2009

I was checking out some of the pics that are coming out of Comic Con already at work today.  I thought it was neat that they have a lot of the Battlestar Galactica peeps there, however, what I really want is that guy's hat, who is standing behind Edward James Olmos in the pic below.

that is one of the coolest hats ever.

Re: BFFC at San Diego Comic Con 2009

DAMN!  I thought this thread was deleted or something...  Couldn't find it for anything

I'm in the same boat as Cujo...  I got some seriously bad info several months back from a "friend" who's AT ComicCon right now...... dirtbag.....

Long story short, said dirtbag of a "friend" told me all the tickets were sold out and that I'd have to buy them at the gate, which was cool buy me, so I didn't bother checking up his story.  About two months later he calls me again, saying Now ALL THE TICKETS ARE GONE.  I checked later when I found out that individual day tickets were still available, and I was a hair's width away from buying the only days that were left, thrusday and sunday for me and my friend, but from what I've heard those are the lamest days of the event, and the costs of staying the two extra days inbetween with nothing to do and no money to do it with weren't very appealing.

So here I sit, with a sick feeling to my stomach cause I have to wait Another whole YEAR for my first ComicCon...........  At least I know who Not to listen to next time.  I'll try to catch you guys there next year; hopefully there'll be even more to see

Re: BFFC at San Diego Comic Con 2009

Ya next year they should have a bigger venue or something, it sold out way too early this year. I definitely want to go big_smile

"Those with the ability to lead, have the responsibility to do so."

Re: BFFC at San Diego Comic Con 2009

I hope so, I REALLY wanted to go...  Maybe I'll catch ya there next year McCoy  smile

And it did kinda work out.  I'm trying to get into the Fire Academy, and I needed to be here in town on Saturday to pass the obstacle course, and then Sunday I had my interview.  So in hind-sight, I don't think I could have made it, or I would have had to come home early.

And besides, this gives me another year to work on my armor - hopefully it'll be much more badass by the time the next con rolls around   big_smile

Re: BFFC at San Diego Comic Con 2009

Ah Comic Con's are SOOO much fun. You don't have to just focus on SDCC. I went to NYCC and that was amazing. Even slightly smaller ones like the one in Baltimore can be great. Join the 501st and you can get to  many places for free. And when you're in costume, no one questions anything you do. (Well really important costumes... Star Wars costumes... if you're going as some anime whatever... well i can't save you...) Don't wait next time then because I think y'all be pleasantly surprised.
