Re: Fett Unmasked - Would Boba Fett really unmask?

I don't think he would... at least the Boba Fett I know would keep his identity hidden. But maybe he's changing. I haven't read how Traviss portrays him in her novels, I've only read the pre-prequel novels such as Tales of the Bounty Hunters and The Boba Fett Trilogy (think it's called that).

Either way, I am a bit afraid to read about this "new" Boba to be honest. I enjoy her RC novels, but I am nervous to find out just how much she has changed the Boba I fell in love with after reading Tales of the Bounty Hunters... sad

I think Traviss has waaaay over elaborated the character. There should be no good reason for Fett to unmask in the presence of others. Period.

Mand'alor Fett is a different man than he was 30 years before. Are you the same person you were even 10 years ago? I doubt it.

Yeah, you got me there. Hell, I am a different person from one day to the next.

Point well taken.

I guess it's more that I just don't like Traviss' writing style. It does not hit me as having a very SW feel to it. I don't feel like I am in the SW universe when I read here books. But that's a matter for another ongoing thread.

yknow, i've gotten that feeling before too
they do feel more removed.

And I still feel that Boba Fett's face is the T-visor.  It's the one everyone knows.  Plus, as nice as it is that Traviss is focusing on Mandalorians, I don't like having their cool mysterious air removed...the were cooler, for me, when they were rare, unique, and thoroughly awesome warriors.

Best Fett line from the EU:

"This IS my face."

Speaking to Dengar about never showing his face and always having his helmet on in "Twin Engines of Destruction"

"Those with the ability to lead, have the responsibility to do so."

Re: Fett Unmasked - Would Boba Fett really unmask?

That line says it all.  Period.

You know, that's just it. BF IS that helmet. And if we are to believe Lucasfilm executives, that's all he was ever supposed to be. Please refer to the (Video: Introduction to Boba Fett) for my reasons.

It DOES leave more to the imagination that way.

Re: Fett Unmasked - Would Boba Fett really unmask?

Actually it was Dengar and that woman... Nella, who saw him unmasked.

I prefer the movie Boba Fett, or the Bounty Hunter Trilogy. I am not interested in his personal life. What he looks like, what was his childhood like, etc etc. I want him to stay the most dangerous and misterious bounty hunter he has always been smile.

Re: Fett Unmasked - Would Boba Fett really unmask?

Boba Fett since the beginning has always carried that air of mystery. That's what drew me to the character. When he unmasked, the mystery was shattered, which in a way did ruin the person he was.

Re: Fett Unmasked - Would Boba Fett really unmask?

Yes, it's a shame they couldn't have kept him masked. In some ways his popularity was his demise that way. Lucas might have done AOTC differently if he understood what people really wanted out of Fett.

Re: Fett Unmasked - Would Boba Fett really unmask?

Of course most of us have discovered that Boba has unmasked himself in "The Legacy of the Force" novel. This was done in the presence of Fett's grand-daughter, Han Solo, and Liea.
I believe that this timeframe was an extreem revelation for Fett. In the climax of Boba Fett's death, it creates purpose and justification for his uncharacteristic actions.
What do you all think?

Re: Fett Unmasked - Would Boba Fett really unmask?

Possible. It would certainly be extreme for him take his helmet off in front of people, even if one of them is his granddaughter.

Re: Fett Unmasked - Would Boba Fett really unmask?

This might be a bit late, but I'm just letting everyone know, that in the second book in the Legacy of the Force series, Bloodlines, by Karen Traviss, Boba Fett takes off his helmet in front of his doctor. Big deal? I'm just saying, thats all.

As you can see I have already stated that Boba Fett has unmasked himself.......
Not ONLY to his doctor, but Liea, Han, and his grand-daughter.
His doctor is paid LARGE amounts of credits to keep his identity and appearance a secret, and Im sure if he didnt keep it a secret then he and others wouldnt be living for long. wink

Re: Fett Unmasked - Would Boba Fett really unmask?

I think he'd do a lot more than just simply unmask for me! ^_~

J/k.... maybe. =P

This might be deep, but maybe George Lucas was going for a bit of irony when he decided to unmask Fett in AOTC? Like, Boba is this hidden, mysterious character in the OT... but in AOTC/ROTS he's the face of the whole freakin' Grand Army of the Republic! Ironic, no? To have his character exposed on such a massive scale when he went to such great lengths to keep his true identity hidden...
Pffft, yeah right. GL isn't that thoughtful. XD
