Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

It was a warm summer day, outside city hall. Noah was out with his wife and daughter at the annual NYPD summer cookout.

"Daddy! Daddy!" Noah's 4 year old daughter Theresa ran up to Noah, holding a butterfly that was sitting on her finger. "I gots a buttahfwy! Isn't it pwetty, daddy?"

"It sure is 'pwetty', Theresa. Go show your mother, I'm sure she'll get a kick outta that." Noah said to the little girl, slightly absent mindedly.

"Somethin' botherin, you, Noah?" Matt, Noah's old partner, said.

"It's nothing, it's just..."

"..the mutant thing, right?"

"Yeah, I just....the other day, my boys had to take down this guy who was strong to lift a chopper he downed by throwing a hummer at. I just...can't register something like that. It's taking sometime to accept that my neighbor might be able to walk through walls."

"I think your wife oughta be more worried if your neighbor can do that."

"Not funny, Matt. Not funny at all."

Noah flipped another few burger patties. Not a word was said for a long time.

"Noah? Noah? Noah! There you are!" Noah's wife, Mary, came running over to Noah, holding Theresa in o nher shoulder. Tears where dripping down the little girl's chin.

"Look what happened to Theresa!"

"What is it, girl?"

Theresa tried to answer, but it was rendered inaudible by her sobs.

"She cut her finger on a rosebush, noah. Look." Mary held out Theresa's dainty little hand to show a tiny prick mark.

"Oh, poor baby..." Noah kissed the boo-boo. "Better?"

"A wittuw bit." Theresa said, starting to dry up her tears.

"Noah..." Matt suddenly piped up, his voice sounding very strange.

"What is it, Ma...a....oh..." noah looked up to see a raggedy looking man dressed in tattered cloathing standing in the middle of the cookout area, his skin glowing brightly.

"Racist monsters. You have a problem with evolution, take it up with the man who created us." The man began to glow brighter than the sun, so bright Noah had to look away. And everything went pitch dark.

BRAKOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!

"Commander? Commander, are you alright?" It was Arnold, gently prodding him to get up.

"...Ar..nold? Where...where'd that mutant, that damn navy seal mutant got the jump on me."

Noah got up shakily to his feet, the subconscious trip down memory lane not sitting well with him.

"I'm going to burn that one alive."

The Hive was getting slightly pissed off. It had already lost at least 19 members. However there were no more helicopters circiling around, they were in multible states of dismemberment on the ground. The Hive then begain to concentrate on finding the woman that looked like his mother inside. They started to crash threw the windows, clicking, chittering and brandishing there weapons.

(Side note: Sal is completly deranged and mad, keep that in mind when he goes looking for the women in the group.) (I know none of your characters are playing as his mother. Hes just mad with grief)

(Extra side note: hard chitin covers there chest, and is bullet resistant. Every where else is vulnerable)

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Tinman soared over the city, his visual matrix scanning the street below for his target.  This was strange.  He had been decomissioned when a better model came along, so why was he being re-engaged now?  What was so special about this Blackout?  Had he given the Operator a black eye when he was out?  He chuckled at his joke, he was managing to get a light handle on human humour, he thought.  As he continued on, his HUD began flashing.  The target was located in a high concentration of mutant signatures which seemed to be engaging human soldiers.  Should he rush in, or observe?  He didn't know.  He settled for observing.  Who knew; maybe he could find some sort of human epiphany from watching this war...

As he came closr, he noticed that there were an awful lot of people around the area, most probably civilians who never ran fortheir lives if their lives depended on it.  He quickly switched to infrared, and spotted his target running from the area, and he was with another mutant.  The other one didn't matter, but Blackout had to die.  Tinman put himself into a spiralling dive.

"Target locked...."
----

Blackout was  sprinting through the alleys near the building, behind the one called Aegob by a small bit; his wounds hadn't healed, and this strain wasn't too good for them.  The bandages that he had wraped around them were soaked with blood, and his musles were stiff.  As he ran, gritting his teeth all teh while, he heard a whining sound overhead.  What was that.....?

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Adrian looked at Skyler curiously, “What is it?”

“I wanted to apologise for rustling through your things. It was rude of me, I know. But the truth is, I want to get to know you better but you keep raising defensive walls every time I even get close to knowing something personal about you.” Skyler started.

“I have my reasons,” Adrian said as he looked away from her.

“I’m sure you do, but I don’t understand why. Perhaps it’s best I don’t know. But I like you, Adrian.” Skyler confessed.

When he made no immediate response Skyler continued, “I saw some very old conscription papers in your private stash. So either you can teleport across time and space or you’re a lot older than you look. I know those photos were of you, no one’s father or grandfather could possibly look that alike to their offspring. Besides you have very distinctive eyes,” she said and waited for him to look at her again.

He sighed.  "Might as well walk a bit.  To avoid detection."  She lighted down in an alley changing into a female that was beautiful but not in a memorable sort of way.  Enough to not be given a second thought.  They walked out onto the street and no one even glanced at them.  Good.

"Well the truth is I'm a lot older than I look.  I'm 527."

She looked at him gawking.

"Hard to believe I know.  But you may or may not have seen me take a soul before.  Usually I can siphon energy right?"

"I just thought when you turned them grey you just decomposed them."

"It's much more than that.  Essentially I steal souls.  Souls work differently that straight energy.  Whenever I do it immediately heals me.  That includes reversing the aging process.  So by stealing a bunch of souls I can keep myself young.  Basically I am immortal."

Adrian continued on.  "And to be honest I like you too.  I mean flirting and banter can only go far before it develops into something more.  And it has.  But after 500 years you learn other people die.  True loves do not last.  From what I've been through we have the makings of a good couple.  Sorry to be rather blunt there but you can't deny it."

She nodded deep in thought.

"It is painful to see others you love die.  So I try to avoid relationships.  But sometimes you can't help it.  Kind of like now."  He hung his head.  It truly was hard to have your elderly wife die in your arms.

James slowed down for a second, he was out of breath, and that usualy took alot. Arista was right behind him. James stepped into an alley, incase someone or, more like something with the robot back there, was following them. "Well, how do you think we should get there?" James asked

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Blackout was still trying to figure out that sound when he was hit in the back with what felt like a semi truck.  He slammed into a nearby wall with a grunt of pain, and stood, groggily.  He was staring at what appeared to be a robot aiming a machinegun at him.  Before the bot could fire, Blackout lunged at it, swords drawn, and slashing.  The effort was there, but the blades barely scratched the surface of the bot, and Tinman had no trouble slamming Blackout to the ground again.  He raised his left arm, the one that had morphed into a machinegun, and leveled it at Blackout....

Blackout gets up again.
"Get behind me and stay 2 feet behind me at least. I'll take him." I say.
"Ok but why 2 feet?" he asks.
"Cause I light up." I answer.
As soon as he's 2 feet behind me, I allow my body to become engulfed in flames and launch a barrage of fire at this robot.

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Zayne was reading a map while Flip was leading the way.

"Okay, make a right here at 28th and 6th and the Freedom Tower should be dead ahead" said Zayne while he was pouring over the map rather than watching where he was walking.

"Well, it's about time. How long you think we've been walking around this city? Lucky we didn't get spotted."

"Ah, who knows, let's just--" Zayne paused as words flew through his head.

"What is it, Prof. X?"

"Something... about.. Adrian. Words... images, almost like a movie about someone's life."

"Is it R-rated?"

"No, but it's kinda sad."

"Well, what're you hearing?"

"It's a woman, and a man. They're at a wedding.. Well, now they're married. But, it looks like it took place a while ago.. like at least two hundred years ago, those clothes definitely look straight out of the 19th century."

"Hmm, I wonder what an 1800's wedding is doing in Adrian's head. Maybe he went to one and they dressed up very nicely?"

Zayne was confused. "No, this is all seen in first-person view, because I can only see a woman, a crowd, a priest, but not my face. It would have to be Adrian's mind, you can't really go into one mind while looking through another."

"Huh?"

"What I mean is this must be Adrian's thoughts, because the way I see it is if I was there myself. I don't know, we can ask him later. The tower's over there."

"Alright, let's go."

The pair continued walking, until Flip stopped this time.

"Z, you don't think Adrian could be.. a little older... do you?"

"Can't say I know. We'll ask him later. But for now -- OH $**T!"

Zayne pushed Flip into an alley, and turned invisible. Flip stared, he was going invisible too. The machine was walking down the road where Zayne and Flip had just been. In a light whisper, Flip spoke out.

"Do you think it can see us? That thing is designed for mutant killing."

"I don't know, we'd best get some cover."

[Scrambling noises being made, sounds like a transmission.]

Zayne and Flip were now behind a dumpster, still invisible.

"What's it doing?''

"I think it's sending some form of message or code. We should get out of here, we're close to the rendezvous point."

"Good idea."

The machine started to turn away, while Zayne and Flip slowly backed further into the alley. After ten minutes, the two managed to get back onto the street, remaining invisible for their final trip to the Freedom Tower.

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Skyler mulled over what Adrian had just said. “Death is inevitable for everyone. Look how badly you were injured, if there had been no one around I’d assume that you would have died.”

Adrian shrugged, “Possibly but I’ve never been in such a dire situation without someone nearby that I couldn’t use.”

The thought sent a cold chill through Sklyer. “Is there any choice in who you use?”

Adrian could see that Skyler wanted to vindicate him in her own mind. “It depends on the circumstance. But I try to avoid stealing souls as much as I can.”

Skyler nodded taking this in. She changed track, “You know although I will die at some stage I can look forever young. It’s one of the benefits of being a shape shifter.” She would have demonstrated her ability to shift to different appearance in age but they were too exposed. She looked at the clouds for a moment. “I can understand your reluctance to form any attachments but why do you continue your long existence if there’s nothing or no one special in your life?”

Skyler stopped as she heard the faint thrum of a helicopter’s rotors but it was some distance off. She looked at Adrian waiting for an explanation.

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Tinman's systems went into temporary overload.  Luckily, the pyrophore stopped, giving him enough time to reboot.  His eyes flickered, and visual systems came online. The mutants were at the end of the alley, running fast.  It would be about five minutes before he was fully operational, although movement systems would come online in three.  Still; it would be stupid to face them in his condition like that.  Tinman made the equivalent of a robotic sigh, and waited fro his systems to reboot.  Blackout and his little friend would pay for this...

Needless to say, the bugs were surprised that noone was is side the house. They searched the surronding area, infecting a few human bystanders here and there so that they was a total of 23 of them. After finding several female scent traces here and there, the hive split up into several groups. Following each directly.

A few minutes later...

Sals hold on the Hive begain to fade. The bugs pupils begain to dialate, they clawed at there minds attemting to rip out him from there minds. Slowly but surly the Hivemind itself took over again. Turning them back into beasts. They started to breath in heavily, the scent of another mutants blood was in the air, nothing sent them into a blood frenzy easier then other mutants blood. The Hive regrouped and headed for the heavy scent of the mutant blood.

"I never said I had nothing to live for.  Only no one.  That's why I joined the military in World War One.  That was about 30 years after my wife died.  She was the only women I loved enough to marry.  I was in a state of grief for those 30 years.  I was living in Canada at the time.  When the Great War was declared I jumped at the chance to join.  I fought in Ypres, Sommes, and Vimy.

"War gave me a vent.  It has always been on my heart to help those that are being bullied so to speak.  So in World War One and Two I joined those who I saw were right in their cause.  Same with the Korean and Vietnam.  And now Iraq."

"How did you survive so many?"

"I did some pretty scary things.  Some would call it selfish but I would call it survival.  I have taken the lives of comrades to preserve my life.  And I've taken some enemies down as well."

"You never told me, what exactly did get you sent home in Iraq?"

"I used my powers during a surprise attack.  There were terrorists everywhere and I opened fire with my blasts to the eyes of all my mates.  One of them was a mutant hater.  He told my officer who told my the government. I was back home within 48 hours.  But my military career is over now.  I'm a registered mutant.  Does your true form age?"

He looked up and saw the Freedom Tower looming in the distance.  The thrum of helicopter blades was getting louder.  Sounds like Blackhawk.  That's what raided his house.  He took her down a side alley.

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Blackout and Aegob managed to weave their way through the backstreets of New York until Freedom Tower came within sight.  The robot person still hadn't caught up to them, so they were essentially home free.  A Blackhawk helicopter was buzzing the area overhead like an angry wasp.  Blackout sighed; wouldn't these racist humans ever give up?

Aegob dashed across the open stretch of street, and entered another alleyway just as the chopper flew overhead. Blackout didn't think he had been spotted.  When the chopper passed, Blackout sprinted acoss the street, and joined his partner.

"Where are the others?  They should be here by now."  He gestured at the building that the group had been aiming for, so close, and yet so far.

The Helicopter droned overhead.....

"PUT DOWN YOUR WEAPONS, AND PUT YOUR HANDS BEHINDS YOUR HEAD, AND WE MAY SPARE YOUR LIVES!"
Yelled a man over a blowhorn, inside the choper. The man (whos name was Jack) then leaned over to the pilot, and patted his large sniper rifle. "It'll be like shootin fish in'a barrel he said smugly to the pilot. As he turned back to the opening of the chopper, a bug came out of nowhere, surprising the sniper so much that he pulled the trigger of his weapon. The weapon (which was aimed at the pilot) shot the pilot in the neck, sending him gurgling in his own blood...as well sending the heli careening towards the tower. It exploded in a violent fireball. Needless to say, Jack wouldnt be shooting anymore 'fish'.

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Tinman's systems had rebooted, adn he got to his feet with a clank.  The pyropore had some power there.  He had to make a mental note not to let his guard down for that guy again, or he'd wind up being sold at a fire sale.  he began to walk down through the alleys, his target's signature having grown faint, to the point of disappearing completely.  He was wounded, Tinman knew, and would not be as efficient as he could be.

This would provide a distinct advantage to Tinman.  However, being in a group with other mutants might remove that advantage.  Ah well.  He would deal with that problem later.  Cross that bridge...er...road when he came to it.

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

"Yeah I was contacted today." Daniel Fortesque said into the phone.

"Oh yeah? What they say huh?" Asked Nathaniel Fortesque, his elder brother.

"Don't gimme that, you know they let me in."

"Of course they did, I told them so. Besides, they weren't going to deny a Fortesque in there... Not after dad."

"Yeah, I know."

"Since I'm not as involved anymore, you gotta take over Dan. You gotta take after Dad."

"Yeah I know. I just thought that was always YOUR job, Nathan."

"So did I, but things changed. I'm sure you can handle the Knights. So when do you start?"

"Well, they said whenever im ready to go over there to call them and they'd pick me up."

"So when are you going?"

"...Soon. I've already set it up. I'm to be honorably discharged after my last mission."

"One last mission ey? What is it? Or is it too top secret..." Nathaniel laughed at that last part.

"Mutant uprising in New York. They've apparently started rioting and causing havoc and stuff. I gotta stop it naturally."

"...Oh. Well, tell me how that goes. Finish up. You got work to do at the Knights. I'll see ya Dan."

"See ya Nathan. Tell Daphne I say hi."

"K, bye."

"Bye."

Daniel placed the reciever back onto the dock. He sighed. There were many missions he didn't approve of, yet it was his job. There was a knock on the door of his room at the US Marine Corps. Spec Ops. Base in California.

"Come in." He muttered to the door. Sargeant Terence opened the door.

"15 minutes till lift off, Captain." He said as he opened the door and popped his head in.

"Alright, I'll meet you guys at the helipad in 5." Terence left and Daniel rubbed his eyes. He wanted to go to the Silver Knights of St. Michael already. He was ready to go, ready to follow in his father's footsteps. Yet the Marine Corps wouldn't let him leave till the New York mutant uprising was qwuelled. So be it.

Character Name: Captain Daniel Fortesque of the US Marine Corps Special Forces

Alliance: Militia

Age: 30 or something

Weapons: M16 Assault rifle with armor piercing rounds and an M203 grenade launcher attachment, Robocop's 9mm (I dont remember the model number but...its awsome), big bowie knife, grenades

Description:Daniel Fortesque is a Captain in the US Marine Corps Special Forces. He is going to go to the Silver Knights of St. Michael to become a knight and follow in his father's and brother's footsteps. Before he can do so he must stop the mutant uprising. Although he is human, I suggest the mutants dont go and just try to overpower him with their powers. The Fortesque Family Secret lives on!!!

Personality: He is a loyal friend and a strong leader. His troops have complete trust in him. His whole life has been combat, and he is very adept at it. He has seen and taken part in the horrors of war, yet he is not proud of it. He wants to go to the Knights for a more honorable life style.

(I'm excpecting to rendezvous with Ph34r's character and other militia members btw so...prepare for my arrival. No but seriously, make an opening for me please.)

“I suggest we get away as sneakily as possible,” Arista grinned.

James shook his head, “I was trying to be serious.”

The smile slipped from Arista’s face, “Okay I suggest we use my way: the tunnels.” Arista stated as she lifted a heavy grate. She paused holding it open as she heard helicopters coming. “Yeah I think avoiding flying would be a good move.”

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

The Terminator wasn't going to stop until Adrian was dead, even a SEAL couldn't escape him. Arnold uplinked to the government's surveillance network and began processing the feeds; it took roughly 5 minutes to find Adrian, he was at Freedom Tower. Arnold severed the uplink connection and half-grinned as he got into the blown '70 Charger and started it up. The massive 440 Supercharged Hemi roared to life, and Arnold put it in 1st and floored it, hopefully he got to Freedom Tower before they did. Sure enough, he turned off Broadway and there they were in front of the Tower, crossing Liberty Street. He put the pedal to the floor, screeching the tires; he was up to 90 in 3 seconds flat. This was going to hurt Adrian badly.

"I'm back." The Terminator smirked as he was just about to smear the SEAL all over the crosswalk.

"This IS my signature."

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Skyler matched her strides with Adrian’s as they jogged. “So far I’ve aged normally,” she said reviving their previous conversation.

“That makes things difficult,” Adrian said in response.

“What happens if you stop taking souls? Do you grow old then?” Skyler asked.

Adrian shrugged, “I guess to some degree but I’ve got so much energy stored from my many years that I think I’d still age a lot slower than the average human.”

“Oh but you’re not average, baby,” she said with a cheeky grin, “You’re definitely in the intriguing category for me.” She said to lighten the mood.

The roar of an engine sounded and Skyler turned to see what it was.

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Without looking Adrian heard the purr of some nice engine.  "That's a really nice sounding car."

His eyes grew wide as he turned to see it barreling towards them both.  Life seemed to slow to slow motion.  He turned to Skyler who was still gaping.  He did what reflexes dictated.  He shoved Skyler safely out of the way.  He coiled his legs trying to jump out of the way.  Leaping he tried to get out of there.  But he was too late.

Oh crap.  This is going to hurt. The car clipped his legs and pulled him under the fender.  He felt the car roll over his legs and  and he let out a scream.  He was aware of the car screeching and then it was quite.  He was beginning to black out.  He could feel people all around him.  Good.  This was the most he'd use his soul stealing in a long time.  Never had he felt such pain.  Every bone in his lower body must have been smashed to pieces.  Randomly he reached out his hand and felt skin.  He began to take the soul.

"GET AWAY FROM HIM!"  The machine's voice ran out.  He had learned.  Arnie made his way over to a shocked Skyler.  Pulling out his desert Eagle and aiming at her head he spoke up in a familiar tone.

"Hasta la vista baby."

Before he could take a shot a huge blast of energy flew through the air towards Arnie's head blowing him off his feet.

"Get away from her!"

Arnie got up.  Part of his face was missing revealing the metal underneath.  He meant business now.  Adrian was ready.

Re: Mutant Hunt - RPG

Skyler had been taken by surprise. She rolled to her feet quickly and grabbed one of the flashbangs she’d taken. She threw it near the Terminator then ran for Adrian. She grabbed him from the crowd of people and hoped he’d manage to hold his need for a soul. She liked having hers. The flashbang exploded sending out rays of blinding light.

Skyler turned for a moment with her eyes closed and used her telekinesis to throw the Terminator some distance from them.

At that moment a helicopter appeared, but instead of military it was media. “Crap the press are here,” Skyler screeched and tried to hid Adrian’s face from the cameras. She was in a form other than her own so it didn’t matter if they saw her.

Adrian walked over to the man he'd stolen the soul from and took off his hoodie and pulled it on covering his face.  Arnold was getting up too.  He made his way to the duffle bag and pulled out a G36.  Firing at Adrian he smiled when Adrian was knocked off his feet.  But slightly surprised when he got back up.

"NExt time you outta account for ballistics jackets pal."

Adrian got up and threw out bolts of energy.  Each one struck home.  They were to keep him off balance and not able to sight Adrian.

"Skyler!  Go find something that will stop this thing!"

The machine managed to get one off which clipped Adrian in the arm spinning him around.  Adrian went with the spin and when he faced the machine again releasing a continuous blast of energy.  He didn't know how much more he had in him.  He was going to burn out for sure.  The skin was slowly melting off the upper torso of the machine.  But it wasn't enough.  The thing was still coming.  Adrian was exhausted.  HE wasn't going to last much longer...
