Re: RPG-Superhumans

"Oh crap, it's the steel-man," groaned the police lieutenant as he saw the shining Acero striding over. "This guy gives me the creeps!"

"Don't be so hard on Acero," said his partner. “Back when I was a rookie, I lost my tactical shield in the middle of a firefight and thought I was a goner. Acero shows up and I stay behind him for the rest of the raid. Somehow I got outta there alive. He’s a good guy boss. He’s just the strong silent type, that’s all.”

The lieutenant grunted nonchalantly.

“Who’s this?” he barked up the metallic figure.

Acero turned to where the officer was looking confused and was startled to see Vandal standing next to him.

“Vandal,” she answered for him. “Telepath.”

The lieutenant grunted again. With all you supers in the city it’s a wonder I still have a job. Alright Acero you’re just in time for the action.

“Oni.”

“No.” answered the lieutenant. “Oni is a special circumstance. We’ll take care of him. What we need from you is to round up his mates. We lost a visual on the pyro, but he’s around here somewhere. With your new little mind reader friend here finding him shouldn’t be a problem.”

“Flame has telepathic abilities too boss,” put in his partner helpfully.

“Dammit Bernie!” snapped the lieutenant. “I know what- Nevermind! And Acero, you two take out the one they’re calling Jericho too. If he gets a good vantage point, he’ll be taking out my men like hot cakes.”

The grin on Vandal’s face was so wide, that even Acero got a little chill.

“I have a police commission to sick Jericho?” she asked. “Mister, you have no idea how happy you’ve made me.”

“Whatever,” said the lieutenant turning back to his partner. “And be careful!” he called out as Acero sprinted off. Vandal jumped into the air after him hovering above the line of fire.

Just do exactly what I say big guy. And this’ll be over in no time.

"Huh some reward.  Wouldn't you prefer an all expense paid vacation to um, wherever it is all-expense paid vacations are taken where you are from?  Anyway.  I say we go after Void now.  Knowing him he may have already found a way out of this stupid bubble.  Which reminds me would you know a way out?"

Jack hopped to the ground with Desdemona following.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Desdemona turned her head to study Jack. He was a peculiar human. He didn't understand the ways of the soul eaters.

"I shall make a way out." She raised her pale finger and opened a portion of the bubble for Jack to step through. She didn't to do it for herself as she could pass through it easier.

Desdemona paused. "There's something odd. It's like two halves of the one whole. But separate."

"What are you talking about?" Jack asked, wondering if the mind was all there.

"This may be more difficult than I thought." Desdemona said cryptically and headed after Void.

If it bleeds, we can kill it.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Darklight finally managed to pierce the bubble, and instantly flew through the hole, and into the city.  Now that he was free he could concentrate on hunting down Void, and making him pay for what he had done.  He had re-unleashed his inner psychopath once more...A hero could not be a psycho.  So he had to get rid of that aspect, by killing its cause: Void.  He grinned, and continued on his vendetta.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

With the cover of Flame's cloaking device, Flame, Haze and Chromium made it out of the bubble and into the streets. They had only gotten four blocks away when they saw Darklight shoot across the sky.

"He seems a little too keen to me." Haze stated.

Chromium had shifted back to his own form, "He does. We could give chase."

"I don't know how wise that would be." Haze said in response.

"We could just see where they're going." Flame added.

"I guess it might be worth while." Haze replied, but felt very uneasy. Something was very off and she had a feeling it was Darklight.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

JAck saw Darklight streaking across the sky.  "Hey Desdemna, I bet our best bet to finding Void would be following him."  Desdemona stretched out her hand to Jack.

"Jack take my hand."  Jack peered at her hand with curiousity.

"How long have you been dead exactly?"

"Just take my hand."

"But I've nly known you for like five minutes, I don't think you and I are quite ready for that."  She looked at him with a slight head tilt.  It almost looked like exasperation.

"Fine alright if you insist."  He grabbed her hand and she immediatly took off from the ground in hot pursuit of Darklight and hopefully Void.

"Activate turrets 30-45 and detonate mines 20-25!"

"Yes, sir!"

KABLOOIE! The streets where the group of supers were instantly blew, and smoke arose.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Two streets over there was a massive explosion. The over-pressure caused their camoflauge to flicker, and almost die."Where are we headed?" Flame asked

Re: RPG-Superhumans

"Mines!" Vandal shouted a moment before the explosion. She levitated off the ground, lifting Acero with her.

Sorry about that, just got a vision. They don't always come to me as soon as I'd like. The telepath voiced directly to Acero.

Raising both herself and Acero high, Vandal reached out with her power to find both Flame and Jericho. Flame was some distance away with that telekinetic and the other metal man. As for Jericho, he was much closer. Vandal grinned and passed the information to Acero.

"Flame." Acero said indicating which super he wanted to pursue.

Ruin my fun, why don't cha. Vandal voiced back, but she knew the importance of going after the others. Jericho could wait.

-

Haze suddenly felt woozy. "I think my effort to burst the bubble may have drained me more than I thought." She said as she sat down.

Chromium looked concerned, "I'll stay."

Haze shook her head. "No, you should go. Flame's been shot, he probably needs to rest too."

Chromium didn't look happy. "Okay, I'll go." He turned to Flame, "You better look after her."

Re: RPG-Superhumans

"I will." Flame said. He helped Haze up, raising the power to the camo, due to less people. Alright where are we hea-....We need to go now, which way is safe?

What? Why?

Vandal is close, i think she knows where we are. Can you run?

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Haze nodded, We need to get to the observatory. Vandal won't go there.

Why?Flame asked.

I'm told her family were killed in the gardens and she won't go there. Haze replied.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Flame thought quickly Ok, I think we should use the rooftops.

Theres a problem with that. I cant get up there.

Flame looked over "Then hang on." He lifted her slightly, and made his way to the rooftops. When they reached the roofs, he set her down, and they headed to the observitory.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

"Have you found them yet?"

"We believe they may be towards the west side of the city, sir. Perhaps they're near the West Bank, or the observatory? But we could be mistaken altogether, RADAR from the satellite is still kicking in."

"Keep looking..."

"Aye, sir!"

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Desdemona flew quickly. She stopped mid air for a moment to sense which way Void had gone. Jack dangled at her side by her hand.

"Um, this isn't very comfortable." Jack said as he tried to cling to her single hand grip with both his hands.

Desdemona reached for him with her other hand and shifted him to her side.

"Why are we stopping?" Jack asked as he was now more comfortable.

"I'm not sure where he is. He's hard to track." Desdemona answered as she narrowed her eyes in concentration.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Jericho and Oni zipped around in Jericho's car. Both were gunning down cops by hanging out windows, and Jericho drove the car with his knees.

Oni pressed a special button on his wrist gauntlet. "Override Code: Exodus 9!" He yelled, looking back at the ruin's of Happ Harry's bar as his special bunker self-destructed, taking out police and erasing any key evidence. A single tear ran down Oni's cheek under his mask.

"Step on it, Jer. Let's get as far away as possible."

Chromium sped through the sky with amazing speed. His silver streak shined brightly behind him as he tried to catch up with Void and Darklight.

He caught up with Darklight first yet kept his distance, he did not want to alert Darklight of his presence. He only wanted to observe their confrontation...for now.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Jack was getting annoyed.  Well how much fun can you have while hanging to an undead girl's hand flying through the air.  But as he sat er... hung there, he felt a pull within him.  It felt as if VOid was grabbing him and leading him on.

"I think you should go thataway."

Desdemona regarded him with the headtilt again, "How would you know this?"

"I dunno gut feeling?"

"You must have been bonded to the small part of Voidhunter that Void left on the sword.  Hm, that could be both advantageous and disadvantageous."

"How would this be a problem."

"There is an extremely small chance that you share thoughts.  Thus making him aware of our presence."

Re: RPG-Superhumans

(GAH SLIGHTLY HUMOROUS POSTS!!!!good job, that was pretty good with the sat...er hung.)

Flame continued to help Haze run, she wasnt able to make all of the jumps, and had to carry her once or twice. He was able to make the jump for both of them. He wasnt bleeding anymore. They came to the observitory, a large dome on a miniature mountain rising out of the sea. The concussive force from the eariler blast had caused the bride to collapse. Flame and Haze jumped down onto the streets. He walked to the edge of the cliff. There was no railing, as they were almost a mile out of the city, there was no light pollution here. Flame couldent concentrate enough to levitate. He stepped back about twenty feet, Haze right behind him,. He abruptly turned Get on my back. he commanded.

Haze looked at him like he was insane What???

I'm to tired to levitate. I'll need my arms.

Alright... she said uneasily,

"Hang on."

"Well, I'm deffinately not going to let go!"

Flame began to sprint forward, geting closer to the edge. Just before he ran off the cliff, he leaped forward. He almost didnt make it. His right arm grabbed the ledge, and the wound ripped open. He reached up with his other arm and climbed the rest of the way up. Haze got up, and stood by the wall. Flame lied down on the grass, beathing heavily and holding the gunshot wound.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Darklight detected the silver superhuman, who went by the name of Chromium.  He was hanging back, as if unsure of Darklight.  This was all Void's fault!  His friends hated and despised him now, and they treated him like an unpredictable animal.  He would show them...Darklight blasted across the sky like a shining meteor, doing his best to track Void.  Where had that overgrown pile of goo vanished to this time?

----

Void stayed motionless, watching silently as Darklight passed over head.  The shadows had concealed him completely.  He breathed a sigh of relief.  And then he felt something, a tickling in his mind.  He was used to the feling after his years of having his powers, but this was a new one, and unknown as well.  He felt a stream of emotions flowing into his mind, the foremost of which was the thrill of hunting, and nervousness.  Odd.  He felt the presence slowly grow closer.  They were stalking HIM!  Telepaths; he couldn't stand them.  With a snarl, he shadowstepped away, reappearing in a narrow alleyway...facing the furious form of Darklight.

"I knew you would show up here eventually.  You always did, back in the day, when neither of us were....gifted."

"Aw, did I hurt your feelings?  Did you not want the world to know your deepest secrets?  Think of it as payback, 'hero'."

Darklight screamed in fury, adn unleashed a blinding salvo of light-bolts. Void vanished into the shadows, and came up behind Darklight, his many tendrils snaking around his limbs, cutting deep into the flesh, unprotected by Darklight's absent costume.  He flared his light-shield, forcing Void to back away in a screech.  Void decided that close range was not beneficial, so he resorted to his oldest powers.  He summoned the darkness within him, and forged a set of medieval armour around his body, spikes and flares abound. In his hand appeared a sowrd built of shadow, and his other arm morphed to resemble a shield of darkness.

Darklight smirked, and mimicked his move; in his own way.  His force field went up, and a blade of light shimmered into existence, one held in either hand.  With a scream of primal fury, he rushed at Void, both blades swinging wildly in radiant arcs of light.

Void caught the blows on his shield-arm, ignoring the pain, and struck back with his shadow-forged sword.  And so it went on.  Attack and retaliation, neither gaining an advantage at first, both powers at an even level.  Until Darklight sent a bolt of light from his fingertip, tripping Void.  Then he pounced.  One sword changed to a hammer of light, and with both tools, he battered away at the helpless Void.  He could not shadowstep away, Darklight's aura banished the shadows from their immediate vicinity.  He tried to rise; defend himself, but failed, and fell to the merciless blows from Darklight's weapons.  The hero wielded these tools with a grim satisfaction and glee, a glee that he had not shown or felt for many years.  He was oblivious to the world; all that mattered was him and Void, and the destruction of the latter person.  He would make sure that that punishment was not avoided.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Darklight pounded and pounded away at Void's crumpled form. Void wouldn't last much longer.

Suddenly a large silver shield caught Darklight's hammer of golden light and it clanged and sent shockwaves through the alley they were in.

Darklight in his mad craze kept pounding several times before realizing that Chromium was deflecting his attacks on Void.

"Hold Darklight." Chromium said with firm resolve.

Darklight stopped, breathing very heavily. He looked up at Chromium who stood over him, he slowly rose and his snarled face was level with Chromium's glowing eyes.

"How dare you interfere..." Darklight growled at him

"Due to recent evidence brought up against you Darklight, I cannot allow you to kill this man. The both of you will stand fair trial and the truth will be revealed in this matter." Chromium responded

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Darklight snarled, and sent a powerful blast of light towards Chromium, blasting him far across the alleyway, although doing no visible damage.  He then turned, and slammed his hammer once more in Void's face, before turning, and shooting across the sky.  Chromium was a fool for interfering.  He almost had Void, and that silver-suited hero had to go and stick his shield into Darklight's business.  He grimaced, and continued on his flight.  He woud need some alone time to cool down.  Regain control.  He couldn't lose his temper like that again, especially not in public.  He slowly calmed down, and eventually felt like he had for the last few years; content.  He decided to make a pit stop at his home, and put on his spare costume; flying around in your civvies played havoc with your secret identity....

Re: RPG-Superhumans

Chromium rose from the wreckage he created when he landed. He wasn't damaged, just somewhat angered. Darklight was now a threat.

Chromium had a decision to make, and it had to be quick. Either he follow the gold streak that was Darklight, or he stay with Void and make sure he's not dead...or that he doesnt get away.

He looked up at the distant visage of Darklight and sighed. He walked over to the dark mound at the end of the alley and crouched. He turned Void's face to take a look at it.

Void's black eyes looked into Chromium's eyes of pure light. No words were said, Void couldn't speak, his jaw was broken. Chromium elongated his arms and wrapped them around Void's destroyed body. He looked up into the sun and burst into the sky.

-

"Alright then keep him on the drugs to make sure he is knocked out until he recovers. Afterwards you can take over Sgt. Gates. I assume you have the adequate facilities to house supers of Voidhunters caliber?" Chromium said to the head nurse of Mission City's hospital and a police officer.

They were stading outside of the room Void was recovering in. There were 15 officers on the floor for protection. Void was hooked up to an IV and heart moniter and was in various casts and under drugs to keep him in a coma like state.

It was quite the spectacle watching the doctor wrap him up in a cast.

"Yes Mr...um...Chromium... we have a whole separate prison specialy designed to hold supers" Sgt. Gates told him.

"Very well, let himm stay here as long as he needs then move him to the prison. I'll check in every so often to assist in the delivery. No one is to know who is here, so the media cannot be tolerated.  Now, I must find and subdue Darklight." Chromium replied

"Ok then shiny, you do what you need to do. We'll be here waiting."

Chromium cocked his eyebrow at the remark, this made the officer take a step back as his face turned pale. Chromium nodded at the head nurse, turned and walked away. His metal feet clicked on the tile floor as he really wished he had his black cloak with him.

Chromium floated easily through the clouds. He had to find Darklight, yet he had no idea where to start. Haze would know where his dwelling was, he would find and ask her. It was a good time to check in with her anyways, he was seriously worried about her. He hoped Flame had not failed him.

Re: RPG-Superhumans

((Void's eyes are the same colour and shade as the rest of his body; they're hard to pick out))

Void was happy; he had fooled Chromium into thinking his jaw was broken.  When would the other heroes realize that he had no bones, no blood anymore; he was his power, through and through, and his body was composed and created out of shadows and darkness.  Now, he just had to wait for a while, and slip away from the hospital, and then he'd be fine.  It was getting sunny out, so he decided that he had better stay indoors for now.  Extending his arm, he reached across the room and closed the drapes and blinds, blockig out that hateful sun.  And then he waited for the tears and gaps in his essence to repair themselves.  Darklight had really hurt him.  He would pay for that...
