Re: Quarantine (RPG)

Jon looked at the tower. It was completely slick, no crevices in the sides for him to climb up.

"Hmmp. Better get climbing tools. Must return to town."

Jon retraced his steps back to the city he had left, looking for a store where he could find some of the desired supplies. After awhile he came across a man covered in what appeared to be meat sauce, held at gunpoint by a man in military armor and a woman behind a door. Jon pulled out a katana and a loaded uzi.

"What's the problem? Dangerous world out here, you people should be hiding your homes. Why are you attacking eachother?"

Re: Quarantine (RPG)

Fort reeled around and kept his rifle aimed at the new visitor.
"We aren't attacking each other, excuse me if I thought this blood covered mess here might have been one of the zombies. But he showed some restraint so I checked first."
Fort looked from the man's illegal uzi submachine gun to his....katana....
"You have an uhhhh...interesting choice of weaponry. I'm here to look for survivors." Fort said, refrencing his high powered rifle when he said he was looking for survivors. He basically meant he was armed to the teeth for a reason.
"Why are you here?"

Re: Quarantine (RPG)

Krista lowered the gun, "Okay we'll come with you, but what's going on?"

Alicia shook her head, "While you've been out back there's crazy people running around trying to eat us."

"Not people," Frank corrected, "zombies."

Krista swallowed, "You can't be serious." But even as she said it she knew it to be true.

"Do normal people do this sort of thing?" Frank pointed out.

"Guess not." Krista replied.

Re: Quarantine (RPG)

"Calm down." Jon said to Fort. "Don't want to hurt you. Was just looking to help survivors." Fort lowered his weapon hesitantly.

Jon turned to Krista and Alicia, staring at them through the door under his white mask. "You okay?" They nodded.

Calvin was tired of waiting. He opened the door. "What the-" Calvin was cut off. He turned and drew his pistol. It was the guy who was in the building. "Damn man, I was gonna shoot ya," said Calvin.

Re: Quarantine (RPG)

Fort moved away from the group for a moment and walked up next to s nearly dead zombie. It was squirming on the floor, its torso severly ripped apart by Fort's XM8. At the sight of flesh the zombie wriggled some more, but to no avail. It was dying. Fort crouched down and took out the large combat knife he got from the ammo shop. He used it to pry apart the zombies skull and exposed its brain. It was surprisingly healthy looking, yet the rest of the body was decaying. Apparently the virus was mutating exponentially. Some zombies were different then others, signifying the differences in stages of the virus....He would have to investigate this further before he leaves. He needed to know how this was happening, and whos responsible,

Re: Quarantine (RPG)

Is it too late to join this RPG?

"None of this is really happening. There is a man. With a typewriter. This is all part of his crazy imagination."

Re: Quarantine (RPG)

Jon checked to make sure the survivors he found were alright before departing. He wondered where the military man had gone. He seemed to know what he was doing. In time Jon found the man examining the brain of a dead zombie. Jon noted the brain's lack of decay. Interesting. He crept up behind the man called Fort. He hoped weapons would not be neccesarry.

"Everyone else in this city is cowering in fear." He paused as Fort whirled around and aimed his gun at Jon.
"You're different." Jon continued, unphased by the large firearm pointed at him.  "You're like me. You want to punish evil, safe the innocent, whether they deserve salvation or not. I have lead on where infection started. Could use someone with your skills. I propose alliance. Accept or Deny?"

Re: Quarantine (RPG)

Fort now understood. Yet why should he trust the masked man? It was worth a try. He'd have to keep an eye out however, he did not know the intentions of this man and this could very well be a trap.

"I accept."

"What are you talking about? Screw it." Frank managed to open the door, and let every one in.
(If you planned to shoot of a lock with a hand gun, it does not work, larger guns, like 12gauge and M1 Garands do. Thank you mythbusters...)

"Good to hear." was Jon's reply. "Now then, on to business. Earlier, visited place where plague started. Came from armored car transporting chemicals for company called Rand. HQ not far from here, but getting in may be hard. Your skills may be handy. Let's go, shall we?"

( So sorry guys, I havent reported in in a while. My comp. has been broken pretty bad. Idk when ill be able to comment until my new comp gets here wednesday-friday)

"Rand, yeah i'm familiar with them. They were actually on my squad's list for possible culprits in this. But yeah, let's go." Fort replied to Jon. Yet before they embarked Fort had to ask...
"One last thing though, why the mask?"

Re: Quarantine (RPG)

"Figured you would ask that at some point. Fine. Suppose partners deserve truth. I will tell you on the way. I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what?"

Jon did not reply. He and Fort set off as Jon told his story.

"Used to be police officer named Alex Sharpe. Worked on lots of cases. Caughts lots of bad guys. Until one day, July 1983, had to investigate crime scene. Was a large abandoned warehouse, few miles outside town. We Found lots of bodies, 3 dozen at least. All missing some body part. Arm or leg, foot or head. Squad searched entire building, never found missing body parts. Was so horrified by crime scene. Worst thing I had ever seen in life. Also the best. Warehouse opened my eyes, allowed me a brief glimpse under the mask worn by the real world, making you think it's all nice and good. What I saw drove me crazy.

Resigned from job,

Went home,

And made a mask that I could stand to look at in the mirror."

"Oh..." Fort said, unsure of what else to say. "That's why you wear the mask. Was this when you started...uh...doing what you do? As Kovacs?"

" No. Wasn't Kovacs when I started. Was Sharpe pretending to Kovacs. All bodies from warehouse were victims of serial killer, named Joseph Swanson. First kill in 1975. Dead now. Spent next few years looking for him. Got sidetracked alot, busting other criminals and scum. Battling the city's symptoms, not its disease. Was being soft. Soft on crime. Letting criminals live instead of teaching them unforgettable lesson.

Then I found him. Found Swanson's hideout. At last, my goal was in reach. Did not bust through ceiling or jump through window. Walked in front door like respectable visitor. Searched premises. Swanson wasn't home. In time, found his kitchen. Examined sink, bone sticking out of garbage disposal. Picked it up & examined. Realized was not bone of consumed poultry. Was human phalange. Next, opened fridge & found something worse. Severed body parts of all shapes and kinds. Not limited to appendages, several organs in ziploc were there too. It was Sharpe who whispered "Dear God...." and closed his eyes.

It was Kovcas who opened them.

Waited for Swanson to get home. When fe arrived, beat him down, cuffed him to radiator, and set house on fire. Stood in street and watched it burn. Swanson didn't get out. Then I knew the truth of life in its entirety. Then I understood.  Understood man's capacity for horror and monstrosity. Saw the world's black underbelly and did not run away. Once a man has seen, is impossible to turn one's back and pretend you did not see. No matter who orders him to forget. I do not do this because it is permitted. I do it because I have to. I do it because I am compelled.

I am sorry."

Re: Quarantine (RPG)

(Ph34r, no offense but don't write my characters dialogue. All the online RPG's ive seen dont allow people to do that out of respect for the other persons character. After all, i could have said something different...)

Fort thought for a moment about Kovacs story. The man seemed quite insane. However Fort admired his vigilante spirit. He was also the only one so far who was truly thinking clearly in this zombie outbreak situation. Fort had nothing more to ask of his new partner.
