Topic: Stuff at the Comic Con

Hey, guys.  Been taking lots of pics at the Comic Con of some stuff you guys might like.  Been taking pics of every new, and somewhat old, Fett and Mandalorian stuff they have showcased out here.  I went ahead and put it on a slideshow on the Photobucket thing.  It's easier to view that way, so enjoy.  This also has some pics of the new Mandalorian figures that were revealed today by Hasbro and Entertainment Earth (EE).  Guess we didn't have to wait for a Friday reveal after all.  The pics with the box they come in were taken at the LucasArts pavillion, while the ones where they're all grouped together on tiers was at the EE booth.  The only problem with the EE display was the spotlight positioned to the rear of the figures, so it made it hard to get a good pics without the glare from the light.  Sorry there's so many slide shows, but they only let you put ten pics in each show.

Also, I can't remember if it was on the BFFC boards that I was talking about how neat I thought the customized Transformers ARC-170 fighter was (the one with the Clone Wars tiger stripe pattern paint job), or how neat the paint job was on the little Clone Trooper figure that came with it.  Well, my wish has come true, and they have actually made a full size figure version of this fighter (a Target exclusive), and to top it off, they made a battle pack with the Clone Troopers with the neat little paint jobs to fly it around.  They come complete with their own tiger striped pattern and painted eyes on their helmet.  Very nice looking.  Here's the pics for those, in case you're interested.

And, even though it's not really Fett related, I've always thought the 181st TIE squadron and Baron Fel were pretty interesting.  Well, they also have versions of those coming out, as well.

I guess Hasbro is on an "elite" troopers motif this year.  Enjoy.  I'll post some more pics, as they become available.

Re: Stuff at the Comic Con

Well, today was officially "Star Wars Day" at the convention.  We all met up and had lunch today, so that was a lot of fun finally getting to meet people from the fan club.  Went around the convention floor and got some more pics of all the nice goodies out there on display.  Aaron has a much better camera than I do, so I'm sure he'll post some better detailed pics of all the cool swag out there.

The Star Wars Hasbro panel showed off a few new Fett figures that are coming out.  One is a Comic 2-pack, from the Marvel series, with a very vibrant colored Boba, from when he escpaed from the Sarlaac in the "Jawa's of Doom" issue.  He has some Sarlaac "goop" on him, which actually just looks like it's supposed to be sand or something that's painted on him.  Even though the colors are brighter, like all the other Marvel Comic 2-packs, the figure looks really, really nice.  The other one is part of an Evolutions "Mandalore" 3-pack, which has Boba Fett with a removable helmet and "gray" hair, as he appears in the newer Star Wars novels, as Mandalore.  The other two figures are Jango Fett, and another Mandalorian that I couldn't make out.  Now, the announcer said it was a "Mandalore" evolution set, but the slide lists it as "Evolution of the Fett's" so you can take that for what it's worth.  The picture is from a slide show they were showing, and they were pressed for time, so they were scooting through them pretty quick by that point.  So, I only ended up getting one semi-blurry pic of the slide, and of course, some guy in front of me had his camera right in my way, so I only got part of the pic.  Still looks to be pretty neat, though.

Still lots of other neat stuff that we'll post on an article later on in the month, but that's mainly the highlights from the Hasbro panel today (Fett stuff, anyways--still lots of other neat stuff coming out).

I'll post another slideshow link on here, when I get the pics uploaded, but not much new Fett stuff to show you.

We did run into a few Mandalorian armored clad warriors and we got some good pics of them.  I think Aaron was going to do something special with those pics, though, so I'm not going to spoil those.  I'm sure you guys will see them sooner or later.

All in all, not too bad for the first few days.  I highly recommend it for everyone, if you ever get the chance.

Re: Stuff at the Comic Con

Just went surfiing the net, on a whim, and guess what?  Those Bothan Spys from Rebel Scum were at the same panel, and have the same slide picture up, but with all the names listed at the bottom.  I bet that was the guy in front of me, blocking my camera shot.  HAHAHAAH.

Anyway, here you go.  It doesn't give a name, it just says Mandalore as the third character's name.

Here's their slide of the Boba Fett w/ Sarlaac "goo," but we have some better pics of those coming up later.

Re: Stuff at the Comic Con

cool Bane and Nihilus figures.

Re: Stuff at the Comic Con

Another update.  Tell me these guy's ain't on the payroll.  They actually have pics of the Power Point slide presentation.  These pics are a little more clearer.  From the clearer pic, the third Mandalorian looks kind of like Mandalore the Indomitable.  Enjoy.

This still has to be one of my favorite new items to come out of Hasbro for the next year.  I love this color scheme for the ARC-170 fighters.  I first saw it for a Transformer version they have, and thought that the coloring of the little figure that came with it was pretty neat, and that they should make a bigger figure of it.  Well, I got my wish, big time.

Re: Stuff at the Comic Con

I'll try to do up a news article that should be more in depth whenever I get back home.  This is mainly just some quickies, so everyone can see what's been popping up at the convention, so far.

Not a lot to report from today.  I mainly spent today (Saturday) finally looking for some back issues of comic books and taking pics of all the costumes.  Went to the masquerade ball, which was a blast.  Never went to one of those before.  It ended way later than it was supposed to, so we didn't get back to the hotel until 1:30am.  There was a young boy in a very well done Boba Fett costume that actually won one of the awards they were giving out for the ball.  So, score one for the Fett man tonight.  Anyway, seeing as I've been going on only four hours of sleep today, I think I'm going to go pass out now.  Have fun all.

p.s.--just remembered, the main thing that really happened today is mainly bragging rights.  My wife and I went to the Star Wars Breakfast this morning that LucasFilms hosts every year, with artist Adam Hughes as the guest of honor.  He signed some exclusive prints for everyone that attended the breakfast.  It was actually very nicely done.  There was only about 80 to 100 people there.  A lot smaller than I though it'd be.  Anyway, they were raffling off some prizes, and I actually ended up winning a Slave Leia print that Adam Hughes said they were only allowed to sell at Celebration Europe, that he had painted up for that convention over there.  He said they couldn't sell them until Celebration Europe started and they weren't allowed to sell them after it was over, and they didn't have any left over for StarWarsShop.com to sell later on.  Funny thing is, we were asking him, at his booth on the convention floor, about this same print the other day, as well as the Boba Fett print he had done.  Neither of which was for sell.  So, it was really cool, of all things to get from the raffle, to actually get the thing we had been asking him about buying in the first place.  It's funny how life works out sometimes.  Mr. Hughes signed it and even drew a little Slave Leia sketch at the bottom of the print, as well.  Pretty neat.  So, that pretty much made my day, right from the get-go.  My wife didn't get a good pic of me having to go up there to get it (she doesn't know how to zoom my camera), so I'm hoping they have something on their website later on, that I can download.

:-P

Here's what it looks like.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a85/Ma … akfast.jpg

Leave it to the RebelScum guys to have better pics than I can take, though.  Here's what the original poster looks like.

http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?imag … 20to%20250

They also have artists, along the "artists row" that will do commissions for you at the begining of the Convention, that you can pick up on the last day or whenever they get it done.  My wife told me that's how some of them pay for their booths at the Con.  Tom Hodges, the guy who drew the art in Karen Traviss' Star Wars Insider article about "The Mandalorians: People and Culture" had a booth there.  So, I asked him to do an art piece for me with Kal Skirata and Walon Vau in it.  Man, that cost a lot, though (about $150).  But, since I haven't really spent that much on anything else, since I've been out here, I figured whey the heck not.  I won't get a chance like this again, probably.  I don't pick it up until tomorrow, but I'm hoping it'll turn out really nice.

Okay, enough bragging about my swag.  I was just really tickled about winning the Adam Hughes Princess Leia print this morning.  I'm one of those people who never win anything in contests like that, so that made my day.  I really am going to go pass out now.  I'm starting to fall asleep at the screen.

Take care all.

Re: Stuff at the Comic Con

Well, the Con has ended.  What a blast.  Didn't see any other new Fett stuff out there, however, since Hasbro had been rearranging some of their stuff on a daily basis I took another peek by there.  The only new thing was they had Jango's new poncho off, revealing that he didn't have any armor on underneath.  Pretty neat.  Here's the pic for you.

And on another note.  A special bonus for all you BFFC members out there.  Check out these two clowns.  I wonder who they could be?  None other than our fearless leader and Cujo, chillin' with Bat-Fett.  HAHAHAHA

It was great meeting up with you two at the Con.  Hope we can do it again sometime.  Maybe we can get a lot more people to turn out?  Still a blast, though.  Take care everyone.  Talk to you when we get back home.

Oh, and completely un-Fett related.  They also revealed one of the new Iron Man movie costumes at the Marvel booth, for any of you Marvel Comics fans out there, who's waiting on the new Iron Man movie to come out.  Enjoy.
