But that armor only fits people 5 foot 4 inches tall, and I'm only 5 feet tall.....

Yes that is true what do I do at 6'7"? Vader is not a Mando. Neither are Wookies

Re: Mandalorian Club!

well first off lets get a link on these boards so that way a fan base and member base can grow. the links in the thread should include
Armor( where to get pieces and the cheapest ro highest qualities)
General ( talk bout possible conventions, ideas on the club, banner design, etc.)
Collecting ( things from Mando suits to favorite Mando character collections to anything fan made)
Fan Fiction ( fandom stories about Mando characters and/or/including the history of Mandaloians and Mandalore)

and anything else to help it get booted into buisness

Re: Mandalorian Club!

it would be a good thing to have a hard copy magazine which can be posted to people.i have some short stories which are too long to post on a computer.i cant be bothered to type them on one.it would take too long.some local club meetings for The Mandalorian Army would be good too(hey a name for it).i cant buy things online as i dont have a card.

SF is what life is all about.

Re: Mandalorian Club!

well as the club get bigger im sure we can make thing available rite through the site but stories would deffinitly help and a magazine could possibly be worked in but thats a tricky 1

I agree, armor would be an important part of making a clan(club),and I for one would rather build my own armor than buy Boba's or Jango's.

So um, who's going to get it up and running?  I made the idea, we need someone with the know how!

Well, sites cost money, and I don't feel like doing that. And I suggest not using a free-hoster like geocities or something cause you won't be taken seriously. I recomend http://www.godaddy.com, my stepsister referred me to them a few years ago, and I've never had a problem with them.

Also, if we are going to do this we do need to be serious and think in the long-term. Like, is this just a passing thing and in a month or two it'll die off? A while back I had a bunch of people ask me to make a message boards on my site, so I did and after a month or two it died, go take a look at what it is now. Is that how this idea will end up? Or is it something everyone's willing to stick to for a long time?

I for one am Mando for life!and as far as the site thing goes, there's alot of choices, both free and not,but personally I prefer msn groups,it's simple to use, very customisable, and free.

Do what I'm ganna do,save up as much as you think you need and put it on a green dot card, then register it so you don't lose the money if you lose the card.....well....at least that's what I consider the best way, cause it lets you buy stuff online.

Re: Mandalorian Club!

regimas, welcome to The Boba Fett Fan Club's message board. This thread is about a year old now, so I think the interest petered out.

But, in general with this thread, I'm wondering why BFFC couldn't work out for all Mandalorian fans. I know we've been welcoming with not only these boards but our recent costume contest.

Re: Mandalorian Club!

I think it does, Aaron. There are just as many Mando fans here as Fett fans (course, we're all Fett fans, but you get my point). I personally am here mostly cus of all the Mando fans, more than Fett fans, and the good atmosphere. I'm just that much of a Mandalorian fan, I guess. But BFFC certainly works out fine for all us Mando'ade. I think this was as much for trooping and such, I guess.

Werda, what could be added to BFFC to be more inclusive for Mando fans?

these r just thoughts...
perhaps the Fettipedia, could become the mandopedia, and people could add their own character to it.
and become more active filling out all the starwars universe characters around the mando culture.
sorta a fan character data base?

we could add a clan section. not sure what would be in it?
just thoughts.

I think there should be more of a Mando theme to the site.  Just little things, like in the descriptions of the sections of the site and titles here and there.  Not sure what else needs to be done, as most of the fans here already post there own Mando stuff now

Thats a really interesting idea.  Would love to get 'Ralin' into the Mado 'DataBank'  big_smile

Had the same thought, ran into the same problem.  Everything posted HAS a place now because the forums are so open.  Making a 'Mando' section of the site would just mean dumping most of the threads that HAVE a perfectly good home into one mixed bag; unless there's a different angle to the 'Mando Section' that I'm not seeing.  There could be...... I shall try to think of one.

Perhaps an expanded version of V_M's Clan idea, or a variation of it.  Just a thought

I just don't see that it's needed.  As you and WV said, this site already attracts Mandalorian fans *myself included; I'm honestly more of a Mando fan then I am a Fett Fan, but I hang here for the reasons WV posted: Fett, Mandalorians, SW, great forum, great RPGs, and the great members and friends I've made here.  I would like to see little things touched up; things that would be more Mando themed rather then set for Bounty Hunters.

And I'd love to see a "Mandalorin" section added to the site, but as stated above, I'm just not sure what we'd put there.  Some sort of Aliit activities perhaps?  Or Cujo's 'MandoPedia' idea placed there seperatly with fan discusions/additions based on that.  Or perhaps a 'Serious Geeking' sort of forum specificly about Mandalorians with only Admin/Mod. submited threads being alowed to minimize topics that could easily put into the other sections of the site *there could be a way to submit new threads that have to be cleared first perhaps.*

Any other sugestions or additions?

You mean something kind of like the one Wookieepedia uses for their users' fan-made bios?  I can't think of the site off the top of my head, but I'll post it on here when I do.  It basically doesn't clutter up their Wookieepedia site with a bunch of Fan Made up entries and lets the users be considerably more creative with a backstory about their own personal Star Wars character.  It basically looks like a Wiki page entry, but it's all made up by the fan.  They can load pics and you name it on there, to make their page as splashy as they like.  That does sound like it'd be kind of fun.  I know I'm not big into the whole RPG forum thing, but it might get some people interested in using their character in those types of threads, as well?

Well, we've already got an informal Clan system, with Clans Drakus and Werda Verda. I'm not sure what type of forums this is (like what its based off of), so I don't know what you can do with it, but with some forums you can open topics only certain members can see. Make groups for each clan, perhaps, and give them their own section. I've done this on a small invisionfree forum, where I've got a home everyone can view, to tell people about the Clans, but they can't see the clan topics.

Or a new section, say, under "Serious Geeking", for discussing Mando related topics. This would be easier, but just as good. More practical, too.

got to go, but there are a few. Hope that helps.

If you were rejected, then we also offered up suggestions to help you fix whatever we found needed to be fixed.  Unlike the 501st and other organizations, Mandalorian Mercs applicants undergo a preliminary check by the Personnel Officer, then are reviewed, discussed, and voted on by 7 officers.  It's not one person's sole decision who is up to standards, but we do pride ourselves on the standards we have had to enact for Mandalorian costumers.  We also have our requirements on the website where anyone applying for membership can see them.

The reason we have had to enact standards is because customs have been the joke of the Star Wars costuming community for quite awhile.  We are trying to remedy that as best as possible, and customs are never going to be taken seriously by LFL and seen as peers by other groups unless we come together as a united front.

Our standards are in place to promote the Mandalorian costumer and Mercs as the best the world has to offer in Mandalorian armor.  We want to help you achieve this with us, not make you feel rejected or inadequate.

Re: Mandalorian Club!

Yeah, I can definitely see that.  I was always surprised the 501st didn't have a section in their ranks for just Mando's or at least known Mando's in the SW universe, besides just Jango and Boba costumes.  I noticed they let some expanded universe stuff in there now, like Darth Revan and Nihilus.  Why not Skirata and Vau, and so forth?
