Topic: Does Boba love?

As we know from certain books such as mandalorian armor, and stuff like this, we note that Boba doesn't spend time loving anyone.  He stays away from relationships, and sees them as unprofessional.

However, in the remastered version of ROTJ we see Boba flirting with some dancer/singer.  Also, in the book Bloodlines, and other books of the sort Boba has a wife and child.

Which Boba do you like more?  The one who doesn't indulge in a love life, or the one who has a love life?

Re: Does Boba love?

I'm fascinated with both. Although the one with a love life seems out of character for him for some reason.

Re: Does Boba love?

i like the intergalactic player boba. laconic and unreachable but still a man...clone.
i assume that he "knows" some of jabbas hottest dancers, probably has ladies on other planets as well...
but probably doesnt let them close because he is a rolling rock so to speak.

i dont care to read blodlines because it convolutes the reasons i like the fett.

Re: Does Boba love?

See, the thing is I really liked the book Bloodlines, which is weird, because I don't like the soft Boba that she protrayed.  In that book, Boba takes his helmet off in front of Han Solo, and allows a girl the chance to shoot him in the chest, out of pure guilt.

I don't know what to think about that.  Too much is being learned about Boba... I'm not sure I like it.  He seems too human in the book, and.. I think I'd prefer the old Boba.

Re: Does Boba love?

For me both are the character Boba Fett, the ine with the love life and the one without.

Re: Does Boba love?

I like the one without a lovelife more.  The whole mysterious guy thing really makes him seem all the more cool.  The Mandalorian armor series was done very well because it didn't go much into his past, just his current going ons.  I don't mind that they write books on his future, but please don't make seem like a soft old man.

Although it could be argued that as he is getting closer and closer to death, he has decided to relinquish his cold emotionless persona and take on the fatherly figure that he could be.

And again you could argue whether he should even be a father.

Another thing is the definition of love.  Sure Boba loves.  The kind of love you get as your taking out the kneeacps of a target a mile away.  Eloquently put by HK-47.

Ah, very niceley put Sev.  I belive you are refering to KOTOR II in which the assasin droid states that.

That's so awesome.

Re: Does Boba love?

It's hard for me to say. When I first got into Fett, I read "The Bounty Hunter Wars" series, "Tales of the BH", etc. I didn't know anything about Fett loving anyone, or even the amount of love he felt for his father. I thought Boba was unattached and a loner... which I really liked. Everyone can agree that they like Boba as a mysterious figure.
Then I learned about the Sintas/Ailyn thing... but that was just a non-canon AU story... up until BL. Well, I have to admit I like the story with Sintas. I like Boba being human too, because it makes his character so much more believable. He has more depth and is thus more interesting. Plus... I like tragic love stories (Boba/Sintas).
So, I'm fine with a Boba who can love.
I'm really fond of the relationship young Boba had with Jango (and I know that makes certain people *ahem, Draco* cringe at the thought). I think it's incredibly special, what Boba and Jango had. I think Boba loved Jango more than anyone in the world. He idolized him. Boba couldn't bear letting his father down. Boba was also Jango's world.
Guess I'm kind of a sap.

Cujo- as humourous as I find your take on Fett's love life... are you actually serious??

Re: Does Boba love?

off topic..."holiday special", HIlarious name, seriously i dig it.
goodtimes...:P.

...back to regularly scheduled love topic.

to answer manji- ...not really serious.
the boba in my head is that loner character. but i imagine he is a celebrity in the empiral starwars universe.
and probably gets alot of attention in certain circles-including female.
i guess i would ask- how do you interprete the scene in return of... when boba touches the dancers chin?

looks like flirting to me.
what does a single-filthy rich bounty hunter do on a friday night?
these r the questions that tourture my simple mind.

since i have ur attention...amesome art, much respect.

I don't mind Boba or anyone else, real or fiction, liking Jango. I just don't like Jango.

I doubt that Boba truly loves.

take it easy baby take it as it comes

Re: Does Boba love?

Boba loves, he just doesn't know how to make a long term commitment to people.  But he shut down the part of him that cared, because it was too painful having to live with the memories and the attachment.  When he realized he was dying, he just wanted to start over with his daughter because he realized that he had failed Jango by never being there for her.  He was remembering that his dad was always there when he needed him, but that he had abandoned his child.  its really not that complicated.

Re: Does Boba love?

Cujo, what a typical thing for a man to think about! It's funny, 'cause my brother says similar stuff. He says Boba is always paying off child support with his credits. As for the palace dancer, most of us assume that he was getting a closer look at her to see if she was a bounty or not. Makes sense to me. Boba's not the type to flirt or have a fling. He has morals.

Draco, do you have any reasons as to why you doubt Boba is capable of love?

Good insight Pheonix, you are quite right in my opinion.

Re: Does Boba love?

I sis not say he was incabable of it. There was more I wanted to say, but I did not have time. I think that he cares/cared for Sintas, Aylin, and Mirta, and love/loved them in the slightest sense, but true compassion does not seem to fit his character.

take it easy baby take it as it comes

Re: Does Boba love?

i have morals and i flirt...but on the other hand i also touch chins to see if people heads to see if they have bounties on them. jk tongue

but ur point is well stated manji. i just think fett as a cold character, nothing of him on screen speaks to him being any different. fett works better for me as a one dimensional character.

Re: Does Boba love?

I like him better as without the love story. It just hurts whenever authors realize "Oh people like this guy, better give him some redeemable qualities".  They just don't get that the reason he's cool, is that he's cold. I don't know if anyone else here reads Salvatore's Drizzt books, but what he's currently doing with Artemis Entreri is another perfect example of this.

Re: Does Boba love?

Alright Draco, all I wanted to hear was an explanation. I like what you added, that he was incapable of compassion, I agree with that. See, I can agree with you, I'm not always against your opinion. tongue

Re: Does Boba love?

I think that Boba loves, or at least loved at one point.  Perhaps the reason why he doesn't seem to love is because a long time ago it cost him everything.  One would have to be capable of tremendous love in order to go to such lengths to avoid the emotion entirely.  We avoid what we fear, the more potential it has to hurt us, the farther we run from it...

Re: Does Boba love?

Simple !!! Boba loves Bats... .now it is out ...and I can tell you he is a Flirt
after flirting with those two singers in Jaffa's Den,,he got a good Dressing-Down from bats
ARRR!! ..Well a Bat can DREAM.

Re: Does Boba love?

The answer is yes, Boba Fett does love he just chooses to not mess with women. (like me tongue) Man, or Woman, love just complicates things and it would only give him another weak spot, and room for emotions

Re: Does Boba love?

I do not like one more than the other.

I find them both really interesting to read about.

I also think that just because Boba loves does not mean that he cannot be just as ruthless as before.

I really enjoyed reading the bounty hunter wars as I really enjoyed reading Bloodlines. I think it is really funky reading different aspects of his personality. I must admit I really like the idea of Boba having a family.

I hope they write more books about Boba and what happens to him after Bloodlines. I think it will be really interesting to see what happens next.
