Re: Bf/Gf

I know I'm gonna by lynched for this but here goes.  I think gf's are a complete waste of time and/or money.  I apologize to you people who think otherwise, but that's the way it seems to be for me.  There, I said it.

Wow. I'm impressed by your morality.

Re: Bf/Gf

It is too young to be thinking about sex. Believe me you're much better of waiting for the right time and person.

I'm impressed with the fact that somebody mentioned sex and nobody has made some obsene joke yet... But I guess I'll wait for a more appropriate time...

Speaking from the other side, BFs are a waste of tears and attention. Lots of them, anyway. I can't count how many girls I've seen crying and pining over some jackoff.

I think it depends on where you are in life and what the other person is like.

True. So far no one's been worthwhile.
I swear I'm not gonna be one of those brods that's unhappy if a man doesn't buy me anything. What a waste!

Re: Bf/Gf

A relationship goes both ways, people seem to forget that. I think one of the reasons me and my boyfriend have been together so long is that we try and treat each other how we want to be treated.

He wants to go hang with the boys, that's fine. Just don't get trashed and crash the car. Same goes for me. We do certain things together, but sometimes we don't.

I pay for things, he pays for things. Like I said if you find someone interesting, take your time and think about what your doing. I actually ended up with a BF when I wasn't looking for one, than when I was.

Re: Bf/Gf

Works that way with me and my hubby. As you say treat them how you want to be treated and if there's a problem get it out, don't hide it or expect the other person to figure it out - they're not a mind reader. wink

Re: Bf/Gf

I only started dating at 17--- around April of my senior year of high school, and it was a guy my mom set me up with LOL (oh I KNOW someone's laughing at that).  She just wanted me to have a date for my senior prom.  I did have crushes in high school, but never dated anybody til then.  Didn't last long, but it was a memorable prom.

...then I got married at 20 (TOO young!!!).  I've been married for almost 7 years, though I can honestly say it's not the best.

You guys/girls here that are wishing to have a GF/BF--do heed the advice some have posted.  Wait until it's right for you, things will work out if they are meant to be, and focus on getting your life going and be independant before you go looking for another to share your life with.  And, it does help to be friends first.  Also, make sure you find someone you can talk to, have decent conversation with, or else you might find yourself rather lonely.

((I pretty much ignored ALL of that advice and am paying for it...))

no, she ASKED me she wrote me a note, talking about how she wanted to have sex with me. Then she said, "can we mabey do some of that stuff on the note?" I said "Which note?" then she said" the newest one" then I said "umm, NO we are to young to be having sex!" then she got mad at me, and walked off, thinking I would come after her saying ok. But I jsut turned around and started walking away, and she came RUNNING and said she was sorry, and that she sould have never asked that.

Woo! You are my HERO ARC! Keep it up! That's so awesome!

And is dating a waste of time? Maybe...I think it really depends on the people.

Re: Bf/Gf

Heh, well, just remember... the people who are tied up in relationships are missing out on so much. I mean, some people NEED to be in a relationship just to feel happy. Be glad you don't have to rely on someone else for your own well-being. big_smile

It has been tough for me. Like I said earlier, I've only had three boyfriends and the longest relationship was only two months. It's very hard to make a relationship work when you're in your teens because so many people my age are just into simple "teenage lust." Well, I want to date for more than that. I want someone who truly cares about me, and shares my passions and dreams... I don't need some guy whose only interested in me because I look good in a swim suit and only cares about sticking their tongue down my throat... and them some.
I don't know if this is a touchy topic, but I made the decision a few years ago to remain abstinent until marriage. I was just wondering if anyone had the same view. smile

Re: Bf/Gf

Though I doubt that I will ever have a choice otherwise for a while, being a Christian, I share that view.

Re: Bf/Gf

See, it's not really much of a religious thing for me... I mean, I believe in God, but I'm not hyper religous. It's just a personal choice for me. I want to be for my husband and only for my husband... I don't believe in divorce either, which is why I'm not going to rush into marriage to young. I don't care if I'm 30 and still not married. I'll be proud to be a virgin. It's the ultimate sacrifice for God and the ultimate gift to the person I will someday love.

I'm glad you are holding out too, it's comforting... It's very hard for people to take you seriously when you talk about abstinence in today's world.

Yep, I'm for the abstinence thing too. It's not easy, but I think it saves one a lot of heartache.

Lot of good stuff you're saying Manji.  Many people in this world today need to hear this kind of stuff.
