Re: Ghost Rider

I think Ghost Rider is too demonic for my taste.  Johnny Blaze gets his power from a DEMON (Zarathos) for Force sake!

Re: Ghost Rider

What is the problem with that? I am a Catholic, but it is just a movie (and comics).

Re: Ghost Rider

yeh, so I hate demonic stuff but really it's about him overcoming his curse to do bad things to do good things instead.

Re: Ghost Rider

True, but I, personally, dislike the idea of being empowered by a demon.  He didn't have much of a choice, I know, but he could have fought harder to get rid of it.  As far as movies go, however, the special effects are going to be AWESOME, and it looks ok.  The movie, I've got nothing against, just the idea behind it.

PS: to get Ghost Rider's background story, go to www.answers.com/  and for the search, type in 'Ghost Rider'.  It may seem painfully obvious, but I accidently combined the two words, and got an amusement park ride in return.  smile

Re: Ghost Rider

Well, Thank goodness there's a big difference between media and the real thing.
I can't complain too much about the demon thing, probably cause I watch too much anime.

Re: Ghost Rider

Green Helmeted Fett, please try to stay on topic.

I am not a fan of him being powered by demonic forces, bu it does not bother me much.

Re: Ghost Rider

Well, I loved Hellboy and he was a demon. I like Ghost Rider too. It more about over coming these forces, although Johnny Blaze did have something of a choice unlike Hellboy.

He made a deal with the devil, and we all know that never goes right. Hellboy was born the way he was,yet they both overcome these things and fight the good fight.

Hey Greenie, some of us actually have to pretend we work for a living (like me,if my boss finds out I'm goofing off.....well there will be a price on my head) so the replies come as they can. Patience,my man, patience.

Re: Ghost Rider

Technically Johnny didn't sell his sold to the devil, it was mephisto a ranking high demon. I don't know how much of a different there is in that though.

But he attempted to sell his soul to Satan, but he got Mephistopheles.

Re: Ghost Rider

I got the novelization of the movie and they just refuse to coin in that way. Mephisto comes to Johnny. And 'accidentally' sells his soul thinking it's a dream when he wakes up. Then he sees him again after you-might-know-who dies and then it hits him hard realizing what he did.

Re: Ghost Rider

The movie is NEVER the same as the comics or even the novels based off of the comics.  As the comics were the original stories of the characters, I'm inclined to believe that more than any movie, regardless of quality.  And yes, Blaze DID attempt to sell his soul to Satan, but Mephisto was what he got.

Re: Ghost Rider

Novel is based upon at least one of the screen plays so we'll soon see

Re: Ghost Rider

I still want to see the movie, but that doesn't mean I have to like the way that Ghost Rider gets his power.

Re: Ghost Rider

yeah, movies always distort the novels or comics. But, The Lord of the Rings was the closest to the books ever(sorry sort off topic) but Ghost Rider demon or not he is human and most of us will do pretty much anything to get what he/she wants or to save som1 the love life. So if the only way to save the person you loved the most would be to make a deal with the devil(or another demon) would you do it?

Re: Ghost Rider

And there's a painful scenario.

If you love something and go to the extreme of selling your own soul to save them it's admirable. But on the other hand it could just as greedy as that. You've lost someone, you can't live without them...hopefully they'd want you to be happy and move on.
In religion, that best person should go up on high to a better place. Wouldn't that just be keeping them on this monotinous plane, forcing them to stay for your own needs?

Re: Ghost Rider

Or a less "deep" one that was in the Ghost Rider comics. A man loves a woman and will do anything to protect her. Zarathos staels the woman's soul, and the man sells his soul to Mephistopheles in order to get the woman's soul back. Because he sold his soul, he can no longer feel emotions, and can no longer love the woman.

I just saw the movie. It is great. The ending was predictable, though.

I just got back from seeing it with my mom and dad. My friends bailed on me...loved the movie though.
Even if the evening was predictable I enjoyed it.

Re: Ghost Rider

There was a little kid sitting right behind me, making sure everyone understands whatt is going on in the movie. When they showed the face of Blackheart right before he was introduced, I hoped that it would scare him quiet. Then he started talking about how scared he was. I wanted to turn around and say "He is going to come into your bed and eat you, piece by piece, and then yor family, if you don't shut up!" Then, while my mom and I were walking back to the car, she fell to the ground.
