New Adidas “mi ZX FLUX” Boba Fett Shoes

Part of the Adidas Originals line called “mi ZX FLUX” has a choose-your-own-design feature, along with several pre-made Boba Fett designs.

Ordering these shoes is a little tricky. You need to download a particular Adidas app, mi ZX Flux Photo Print, available on iOS and Android. Note that reviews for the iOS app are quite negative, noting how the checkout process is buggy.

When you open the app, the default feature is to take a photo of whatever you want in front of you for your shoes. There’s a menu choice to pull up pre-made designs, either in a “Star Wars” folder or an “Adidas” folder. If you scroll through the Star Wars artwork, you’ll find all of the following Boba Fett artwork available to have on your shoes.

The fine print in the effort also notes the following: “The mi ZX FLUX product is currently only available in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and Japan.”

We at the Boba Fett Fan Club are good friends with Mark Austin, who portrayed Boba Fett in the “Star Wars: A New Hope: Special Edition.” Learn more about how this Boba Fett fan ended up wearing the costume multiple times, how he modeled for the POTF2 action figure, and why the iconic shoulder pads were on the opposite sides when they filmed the Docking Bay 94 shots.

The Flaw in The Wrap’s Boba Fett Story

Today — on #StarWarsDay and #MandalorianMonday — TheWrap published an article entitled, “‘Star Wars’ 2nd Anthology Film Will Be Boba Fett’s Origin Story.” It goes on to say very little. Yet, in a matter of hours, every film/fan site seems to carry it as validation.

Josh Trank recently exited the Disney project, which will follow the galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunter

The next “Star Wars” anthology movie due in 2018 that recently lost director Josh Trank will be a Boba Fett origin story, confirming one of many rumors that have appeared online in the last several months, TheWrap has learned.

A representative for Disney had no comment.

Boba Fett is a Mandalorian warrior who was trained by his father-figure Jango Fett and became a notorious bounty hunter throughout the galaxy. His travels led him to work for the Empire, collaborate with Darth Vader and take assignments from figures such as Jabba the Hutt, for whom he once captured Han Solo.

The flaw in the story is the lack of quotes, attribution, and fresh content. Just a “learned” validator.

Come on.

Since February 2013, when the Anthology films were first announced (under the term “spin-off” and “stand-alone”), Boba Fett has been mentioned time and time again. We track the play-by-play in our Fett Fact Check. Most of the rumors have been debunked.

The content in TheWrap’s article reads more like a summary of existing rumors. Even the proclamation language has been done before.

While we’re hoping for a Boba Fett film, we’re unconvinced by this story and stay vigilant to more substantive, original reportage.

Upcoming Bounty: Hallmark, Spencers, and WeLoveFine

Here’s the lowdown on three officially licensed shops with Boba Fett merch coming out very soon.

Hallmark

According to their latest press release, Hallmark has three Boba Fett collectibles planned:

New products include Chewbacca and Boba Fett Cubeez stacking boxes, jumbo (64-ounce) Darth Vader coffee mug, Lightsaber pizza cutter with sounds, Princess Leia bottle opener with sound, and the Boba Fett apron and “Boba-que Tongs” set.

While their press release included 21 images, none of the Boba Fett items were pictured.

However, we went and tracked down one photo of the Boba Fett Cubeez that was taken three weeks ago at Amy’s Hallmark Store (Anaheim, California) by crs2499 on Instagram. Check this out!

Spencers

Spencers announced a “Warriors of Mandalore” collection, which is coming May 4th (“Star Wars Day”). They have a 25% off sale until 5/4 on all of this.

DorkSideOfTheForce.com got their hands on the official look-book PDF, which shows a lot of apparel and accessories with the Mandalorian icon, like this $22 watch.

WeLoveFine

WeLoveFine also announced a new line of apparel, specifically designed for women. Their new Boba Fett hooded tank top is already for sale and builds upon the no-longer-available design for men that came out a few years ago.

Schrodinger’s Fett: The Life and Death Paradox of Boba Fett

During an official “Story Group” panel at the recent Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, Lucasfilm’s Pablo Hidalgo mentioned Boba Fett only once:

“Boba Fett is both simultaneously alive and dead in the Sarlacc.”

When we first shared the quote, live from the Anaheim Convention Center, it immediately opened the door to a new term for this: Schrodinger’s Fett.

As you may already know, the more common term — Schrodinger’s cat — is used to describe a paradox, like being both simultaneously alive and dead.

What Pablo meant by the quote, as explained by further context of his point during the panel, is that Lucasfilm’s Story Group has not independently decided one way or the other that Boba Fett is alive nor dead after the fall in the Sarlacc Pit.

In fact, they cite a new book that defines the official canon.

Thanks to our friends at JediNews, we have a sneak peek at the book and, sure enough, Boba Fett is not written out as dead nor alive:

“During a fight at the Great Pit of Carkoon, Boba’s jetpack malfunctions and he falls into the mouth of the Sarlacc monster.”

Here are some shots of the book itself:

As Pablo and his fellow members of the Story Group have declared, it is simply up to a future story to define Boba Fett. Instead of filling in the timeline gaps, which was a trend in the “Expanded Universe” (now non-canon and called “Legends”), the plan moving forward is to be consistent in all storylines.

In the case of Boba Fett, we have had multiple conflicting storylines of Boba Fett escaping the Sarlacc in the Expanded Universe. We also had quotes from George Lucas himself saying Boba Fett is dead, then more recently saying Boba Fett is alive.

Now, we’re simply in limbo, presumably for just a short period of time. In the meantime, it’s time for a new hashtag: #SchrodingersFett.

One highlight of Day 3 at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim involves Young Boba Fett, Daniel Logan. This afternoon he was presented with a hand-crafted, screen-accurate Boba Fett helmet. We spoke with him after the festivities settles down — the Mercs were in the middle of a “bounty hunt.” Daniel specifically wanted a more muted look to appear more cinematic, and can’t wait to upgrade it with a servo and lights.

He graciously let us shoot some stills with him in and out of the bucket. Here’s a preview of our shoot!

The helmet was crafted by Molon Labe Studios. For the cosplayers out there, it’s Molon’s helmet, MQ-1, and dental file molds. “I installed the visor, aluminum stalk and rangefinder topper — and of course the paint up,” noted the artist on Instagram.

This Pre-Pro 3 Boba Fett by Angie caught our eye while he was taking a break by the convention’s fountain courtyard. He’s a member of the Midwest Garrison 9397 and calls from Chicago, Illinois. After helping him suit up, we took some shots.

We pulled “Grifter” aside for some golden hour shots, including this one.

Last but not least, we came across two very cool Mando helmets. The purple one is by Natasha Cox of South Carolina and the green/red one is by Larissa Perkins of Florida.
