Boba Fett is the clone "son" of Jango Fett who grew up to become the most infamous bounty hunter in all of the Galaxy

Overview

An unaltered clone of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, Boba was created ten years prior to the beginning of the Clone Wars.

While growing up on the ocean world of Kamino young Boba lived a carefree life reading books and dreaming of adventure just as any young boy does. However, his life took a dramatic change following the arrival of the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had come to Kamino to investigate an assassination attempt on the life of Senator Padme Amidala.

To his surprise, Obi-Wan discovered a secret army of clones having been created for the Republic. Taun We, the administrative assistant to Kamino's Prime Minister, Lama Su, introduced Obi-Wan to the source of the clone army, Jango Fett.

This tense encounter between the Jedi and the bounty hunter led Jango and Boba to make their way for a quick departure from the planet shortly afterwards. However, before leaving, Jango and Obi-Wan battled each other briefly with the Jedi nearly gaining the advantage had it not been for the intervention of Boba. After barely escaping the two Fetts made their way to the rocky, desert planet of Geonosis. It was on Geonosis that the Clone Wars began and the life of Jango Fett ended, at the hands of Mace Windu.

After his father's death, Boba began his journey in following in the elder Fett's footsteps. These first few lonely years led Boba all across the galaxy from Aargau to Xagobah. It was under the employ of Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine that Boba got his break as a bounty hunter. Boba's first assignment for Jabba was hunting down and destroying a Neimoidian named Gilramos Libkath who had been stealing cargo from Jabba and selling it. This assignment also put Boba in competetion with Durge an ancient bounty hunter who held a nasty grudge against Mandalorians.

Later, Fett ran into Han, Luke, Leia, and Chewbacca while they were stranded on Panna. At first he appeared to helpthem, but he was actually working for Vader.

History (After Episode II)

Originally from the planet Kamino, Boba Fett was the son of the noted bounty hunter Jango Fett. When Jango was first contacted about developing a clone army, one of the only things he requested as payment was an unalterd clone of himself to have as a son.

Boba was the first of the clones produced by the Kaminoans, some ten years before the onset of the Clone Wars, and Jango loved him with all his being. He trained Boba to be self-reliant, and often took the child on bounty hunting missions.

At one time, he was thought to be a Journeyman Protector named Jaster Mereel, who also had close ties with the Mandalorians that created Boba Fett's style of armor. There are also rumors that Fett was an extremely dedicated Imperial stormtrooper who, for reasons known only to him, attacked and killed his superior officer. These rumors have never been substantiated. What is known is that Jaster Mereel killed a corrupt Protector but was imprisoned for the murder anyway. (Source: Dark Empire I comic)

He was exiled from the Planet Concord Dawn, and found employment as a bounty hunter, learning skills that would make him a formidable adversary in the future. Whether Jaster was an alias Boba Fett used to cover up his true identity after his father, Jango, was killed at the beginning of the Clone Wars is still unknown. But is does seem likely.

Boba Fett inherited a full suit of Mandalorian Shock Trooper armor from his desceased father. The unique weapons systems of the armour suited a number of purposes, including enhancement of his arsenal as well as increasing the mystique behind his reputation.

He also acquired his father's Kuat Systems Engineering Firespray-class ship, Slave I and had it heavily modified at Kuat Drive Yards. Many of the modifications to Slave I were developed by Kuat of Kuat himself, and helped to further the design of other starships.

Fett employed the best microsurgeons in the galaxy to remove as many of the pain-sensing nerves from his body. He also had many of his body's pleasure sensors eliminated as well.

As his proficiency as a bounty hunter grew, so did his reputation. It was even believed that Grand Mof Willhuf Tarkin employed Boba Fett to hunt down Han Solo, shortly after Solo's defection from the Imperial ranks, in order to prove to the galaxy that the Empire would not tolerate any breech of loyalty.

This led to his being hired by Kud'ar Mub'at, in an intricate plan to eliminate the Bounty Hunters Guild. The plan, masterminded by Prince Xizor, involved Fett actually joining the Guild, wich he had always felt was too restrictive in it's bylaws. The plan worked, resulting into the breaking of the Guild into two rival factions.

During this time, Fett also discovered the schemes of Kuat of Kuat, and would have exposed the leader of Kuat Drive Yards if Kuat hadn't been intent on his own suicide. Fett later became one of the bounty hunters commissioned by Darth Vader to hunt down the Millenium Falcon. This occurred at about the same time as Jabba the Hutt hired him to capture Han Solo. These two commissions fit together perfectly for Boba Fett, who used his knowledge of Han Solo's background to predict Han's maneuver of floating away with the Star Destroyer Avenger's garbage, and tracked the Falcon to Bespin, Cloud City.

On arriving at Bespin he had realised he had been tracked by one of the three IG-88 Imperial Assassin-turned-bounty hunter droids. Fett led the droid into the furnace room on the maintainance levels of Cloud City where a trap was waiting. As IG-88 prepared to attack Fett, intent on taking credit for locating the Millenium Falcon, the trap was sprung and the droids circuits were swiftly fried by a bolt from an Ion cannon.

Boba Fett then took possession of Han's frozen body and returned to Tatooine, only to be intercepted over the desert world by IG-88. In a brief dogfight, Boba Fett was able to destroy IG-88's ship, but Slave I was so damaged that landing on Tatooine would be impossible.

So, Fett travelled to the Outer Rim world of Zhar, and landed on Gall. There, he was further beset by bounty hunters, including Zuckuss and 4-LOM, who wanted to steal Solo's body. (Source: Shadows of the Empire comic)

Fett managed to escape them as well, only to be assaulted by Alliance Starfightes from Rogue Squadron.

Fett escaped them as well after antother brief, yet fierce firefight and transported Solo to Jabba the Hutt, collecting the large bounty on Han's head to go with his Imperial payment.

It was at that time Fett discovered fellow bounty hunter, (although not up to Fetts high standard), Ree Duptom's personal starship adrift and Duptom himself dead.

He took possession of the droid in Duptom's hold and the young woman in his holding cell. The droid contained data on a plot to discredit Prince Xizor by Kuat of Kuat, and the woman turned out to be Neelah, an important dignitry from the planet Kuat although she didn't know it suffering the effects of a thorough memory wipe.

Jabba then offered him a large sum of money to remain on Tatooine as his personal bounty hunter. This allowed himto hide Neelah from the rest of the galaxy as one of Jabbas dancing girls, but Fett stipulated that he would remain a freelance bounty hunter on retainer.

Although the work was extremely simple for Fett, he believed that there would be a rescue attempt on Solo, and he wanted to be there when it happened. After slightly underestimating Leia's disguise as Boussh, Boba's instincts went into overdrive, and he was ready when Luke Skywalker showed up at Jabba's palace.

Unfortunately for Boba Fett, when Luke, Han, and Chewie were about to be thrown into the Sarlacc pit, Fett's rocketpack was accidentally activated by the then-blind Han Solo. Fett careered into the side of Jabba's sail barge and was knocked unconcious. (Source: Return of the Jedi film)

Fett was thought to have been kiled in the Sarlacc's acid-filled belly, but he managedto set of a series of explosions wich destroyed much of the beast and allowed him to escape. He lay dying in the twin suns of Tatooine until he was discovered by fellow bounty hunter Dengar and his fiance Manaroo, who recognized him by the tattered armor that still clung to his skinless body.

Dengar also found Neelah who was looking for Boba Fett knowing that he knew who she really was, and took them both to his hideout in the desert.

There, with the help of some of Jabba's medical droids, Dengar nursed fett back to health on the condition that he and Fett could have a brief partnership in order to earn Dengar enough credits to retire from bounty hunting and settle down with Manaroo.

Once recovered, Boba Fett set out to clear up the situation with Kuat of Kuat and Neelah. They managed to pull all the pieces together, with the help of Balancesheet, (the successor to Kud'ar Mu'Bat) and Kuat himself, before Kuat killed himself.

After recovering the heavily- damaged Slave I from the Alliance, (who had seized the stricken ship from Jabba's Palace following Fetts apparent death at the Sarlacc Pit), he limped to Nar Shaddaa and commandeered a second ship for his use.

He designated this ship Slave II, and was again commissioned by the Hutts, this time to kill Solo once and for all. He almost succeeded at Nar Shaddaa, but was once again thwarted. (Source: Dark Empire II comic)

When Han Solo and Princess Leia returned to Nar Shaddaa to take Vima-Da-Boda into custody, Boba Fett again nearly captured Solo, but Chewbacca overpowered him, ripping off his helmet and ingniting his rocket-pack. Fett careered into the ceiling of the spaceport's lowest levels and was knocked out unconscious. It was believed that he sustained near-fatal head injuries, but Fett returned to action shortly afterward.

Fett spent much of his career tracking down his two most elusive targets, Han Solo and Rive Xarran. Fett caught Rive on Ladarra, but let him live after having a sudden attack of conciousness when he discovered that Rivo was caring for a group of children.

He later caught Solo too on Jubilar, and the two decided that they had been adversaries too long to kill each other, and went their separate ways.

History (Prior to Episode II)

(This storyline is considered outdated.)

Many legends and stories have arisen around the galaxy about the mysterious bounty hunter, Boba Fett. He was once the high-moralled journeyman protector Jaster Mereel, but he was exiled from his homeworld of Concord Down after he had killed a corrupt protector colleague.

Since his possible background with the Mandalorian warriors was where he most likely learned all of his great combat skills during the Clone Wars, Fett has worked as a bodyguard, mercenary, assassin, and soldier, but most frequently, as the highest paid bounty hunter of all known systems.

Suited in the fear-inspiring Mandalorian battle-armor, Boba Fett has modified it into a walking arsenal.

Fett's main ship is called the SLAVE I. The ship has also been modified by Fett and stripped down for pure speed. The ship is a rare example of the Kuat Systems Engineering Firespray-class starfighter. Before and during the Clone Wars, bounty hunters often possessed some kind of Firespray patrol craft. The SLAVE I is faster than the Millennium Falcon in hyperspace, has a high-tech navicomputer and electronic 3-D maps of all systems and is also very maneuverable. It could give 4-5 one man fighters like TIE-fighters a very close match in a dogfight. The ship has a food supply meant for keeping it's one crew member, Boba Fett, alive for six months. It has a cargo capacity of over forty metric tons, and that's much more than needed for one frozen Han Solo. Also, the passenger capacity is six, but they are all prisoners. The ship has become infamous because of Boba Fett deadly additions to it. Boba Fett has added so many hidden special weapons to the SLAVE I, that no one except Fett knows more than a few of them.

Fett has found employment without trouble for numerous gangsters or gang lords, including the late Jabba the Hutt and for several Imperials, above all, Darth Vader. When Lord Vader hired Boba Fett to find Captain Han Solo of the rebellion, a man with mysterious links to Fett's past, this bounty hunter was most successful. Han Solo was frozen in carbonite and then transported to Fett's ship. The rebel captain's friends tried to stop Boba Fett from lifting off, but they were too late. Fett was already on his way to Jabba the Hutt to bring Solo to justice! A huge rescue plan was set in motion by Solo's friends. When they were all transported to the Great Pit of Carkoon, the nesting place of the dreaded Sarlacc monster of the Dune Sea, Luke Skywalker, a Jedi-to-be, kept Fett occupied in a hand-to-hand combat. When Skywalker moved on to fighting more of Jabba the Hutt's guards, Fett took aim and fired two shots at Luke. The third one would most certainly would have hit Luke, had it not been for the half-blind Han Solo, activating Boba Fett's rocket pack with a gaffi stick. Fett fell into the Pit of Carkoon screaming his head off. To everyone's surprise, Fett survived by shooting his way out of the Sarlacc's belly with his concussion grenades. Fett caught up with Han Solo and his newlywed wife, Princess Leia Organa Solo on Nar Shaddaa, claiming that the Sarlacc found him somewhat "undigestible." Fett chased Han Solo alongside fellow bounty hunter Dengar, in the backup starfighter, SLAVE II. As Solo's and Fett's ships closed in on their destination-planet Byss, Han managed to sneak past the planetary shields. Boba Fett was not so lucky. He and Dengar crashed into the planetary shield and the SLAVE II went spinning out of control.

After some time, Fett once again met up with Han Solo on Nar Shaddaa. But this time, Solo's friend the Wookie Chewbacca got a grip on Fett's helmet, twisted it off and sent him flying up, causing Fett to crash into the high-above ceiling headfirst. Once again, no one managed to get even a peek of Boba Fett's face. Boba Fett chased Han Solo off-planet in the SLAVE I into a radioactive gas cloud. Solo found a way out right away. Boba Fett went back the way he came and waited for Solo to come back. After days of waiting, Fett finally got his reward as he spotted the Millennium Falcon exiting the gas cloud. As Fett moved into attack position, Han Solo suddenly fired some kind of lightening gun at Fett's SLAVE I, sending it spinning into the gas cloud. Fett eventually escapes from the gas cloud and has since then continued to work as the most successful bounty hunter in the galaxy.
