Re: The NFL Thread

JETS IN THE SUPERBOWL!

Well I guess maybe that is a bit too high of an expectation.  But looking on the bright side they didn't do half bad against the Pats.  Then again Brady wasn't in.

I'm hoping my other fav team, the Seahawks, finally get some luck good play in the play-offs.

Re: The NFL Thread

I myself have been a die hard Eagles fan from age 2, I enjoyed the game I just dont like how the refs have to much control. For example the Eagles had the lead and stopped the Cowboys on 2nd down, making it 3rd and 8 on the next play the Cowboys left guard jumped offsides and the Eagles #58 Trent Cole pushed him over, which is 100% legal and happens almost 2 times at least per game in the NFL. Now somehow the all knowing refs decided to call a personal foul against #58 and give the Cowboys an automatic 1st down inside the Eagles 20 yard line. That was a crucial play due to the fact the Cowboys now had a fresh set of downs to try and score, yes the Eagles should have stopped them from scoring but it shouldnt have even come to that it would have been 3 and out and the Cowboys would have had to punt.

Another reason is the 4 blatant face masks that the Cowboys had against the Eagles of which only 2 were called. One that should have been called was on a Brian Westbrook 8 yard run inside the Dallas 30 yard line. There should have been 15 yards tacked on for a face mask making it 1st and 10 on the Dallas 15 insted of 3rd and 2 from the Dallas 30.  But I have come to expect this from NFL  refs, with the blown call against the Chargers and the refs favoring Dallas or New England its almost impossiable for games as close to this to be decided by the players themselves.

Now now, don't be crying over the calls.  I do recall one of those face mask penaltys we got away with, though not the other.

But Dallas had almost as many bad calls against them as Philly did if not more.  The "Pass interferance" call they did on Anthony Henry was insane; the wide out GRABED HENRY'S JERSEY!  NOT the other way around!  Eagles got a free TD out of that one...

I know there were more, but I can't think of them...

HOWEVER, I totally agree with you in that the Refs are ruining the game.  They need to give their whistles and yellow flags a break and let the big boys play...

Re: The NFL Thread

You know, with all that hair hanging out of the backs of the players helments, why wouldn't someone try to tackle someone by pulling on that hair?

Re: The NFL Thread

they do sometimes; Ricky Williams found that out the hard way once    big_smile    was funny....

Re: The NFL Thread

I am not a fan of the hair at all. I think the league should control it to an extent. I think they look like clowns. The NFL should continue to lead the sports league with professional players acting like professionals. Lately they have been slacking and making a lot of mistakes.

Re: The NFL Thread

well, to be honest, I agree much more with your post before.

The leage is OVER controling the game.  Let them look like clowns if they like.....but lets Play Some FOOTBALL!!!

Re: The NFL Thread

I love me some football but the refs and the stupid hair are making it annoying.

Go Titans!!!!

Re: The NFL Thread

Titans are a good team; I hope everything works out for Vince Young.  I also like the Bills, Bengals, and a few other teams, but Cowboys are my unquestioned #1

Re: The NFL Thread

The cowboys are in my top 5.

Re: The NFL Thread

DALLAS WINS AGAIN!!!   Not their best performance offensively, but the deffense help the Packers in check for the most part, and the 'Boy's are 3-0   big_smile big_smile big_smile

Re: The NFL Thread

*UPDATE*

grrrrrr....... Dallas be slippin'

Lost to the Redskins *turns green*, didn't bury the Bengals nearly as badly as they should have, AND LOST *gags* to the CARDINALS!!  I know Warner is throwing well, and the offense is moving pretty well, but COME ON DALLAS!  It was the CARDINALS!!!

even worse, we have a flury of injuries...  Romo is out for maybe 5 weeks, meaning Brad Johnson is stepping in *and from what I saw in the pre-season, I'm ready to hide under my bed until Romo gets back*, Felix Jones is getting an MRI for a possible injury and out for next week at least, Sam Hurd has a hamstring pull I think, and our punter Matt McBrier *sp* broke his foot on that last play that ended it, finishing him for the year....

*sigh*

How are you guys's teams doin?

Re: The NFL Thread

I'm so mad Tom Brady is out....the Pats aren't doing too great.....3-2, osik compared to their record of 18-1 last year. I can't believe Brady is out.......horrible luck for the Pats. Hopefully they'll still make the SB this season, but it's doubtful.

You are a Cowboys fan, Ralin? Some kids in my school are, even though we aren't even close to Texas. Most are Giants fans....I had to endure weeks of torture after the Pats lost the SB to them.

Re: The NFL Thread

Yeah, Cowboys are one of those teams that have fans everywhere...and just as many if not more haters.  Arizona has traditionally been strong Cowboy's Country.  For YEARS home games for the Cardinals would have more Dallas fans in attencance then home team fans.

But times change... I guess the Card's couldn't stay cursed forever.  Maybe they're finally on the road to doing something.........................maybe

*won't believe that until I see it...we've been promised a winning team for so long it's pathetic*

Re: The NFL Thread

My Jets aren't doing half bad.  They are 3-2.  Although Favre's style of playing seems to be much too complicated for the Jets.  It's great seeing the Jets doing well though.

Re: The NFL Thread

I have to give him credit, Favre isn't doing bad at all.  I seriously expected him to fall flat in a new team...  But he's proving yet again he's still got it.

I'm even more surprised Rogers is doing well in Green Bay.  Probably not as well as Favre would be doing if he was still there, but he's keeping the team together despite being placed in a really unfair situation for him

And who else is flat AMAZED at the upset the Browns pulled last night against the Giants???  That game was amazing...and I LOVED IT!  Keeps mah Boy's in the running for taking the Division back.  Same with the Redskins getting upset bigtime by the Rams.

The scary thing for me is that these are teams that BEAT Dallas, and they're getting beat by serious underdog teams.....makes me ufraid Dallas is in even worse shape then I thought

Re: The NFL Thread

Romo's out.....Brady's out.....jeez why do the QBs of our favorite teams have to be hurt? I mean c'mon.....the Pats were amazing last season, and this season they aren't as good as they should be.

Re: The NFL Thread

eh, it happens

Lot of people react all "Oh My GOD!  We need to protect the quarter back more!!!" when the dude for their team get's hurt, but I say tough it...  QB's are close enough to playing with a red shirt *or COUGHskirtCOUGH* as it is compared to the rest of the teams.  If they don't want to get hit, don't play with the big boys.

It's teams/owners who fuel that reaction to; they invested a lot of green in a first rate QB, and it kills their chances if the dude goes down
