Topic: Why do people think Star Wars is dead?

A few people(3 or 4) have said Star Wars is dead when it is not.

A major religon would die before Star Wars did.

I know Clone Wars movie isn't going to well but Star Wars is not dead, it is still one of the most popular franchises of all time.

Who said that? I've never heard anyone say that.

I think they would have to be very careful how they do the series (maybe that is why there is such a delay on it)

Star Wars will not be dead but there could come a point when there will be no more new stuff.

I have been put off seeing the latest film at the cinema, as I am not too fussed about the clone wars.

It was popular, not so much any more.

SW will definatally die before nearly any religion.

All the new SW stuff sucks, I hope it dies soon.

take it easy baby take it as it comes

I hope star wars stays alive. smile

Re: Why do people think Star Wars is dead?

rather than death, an identity crisis is more like it.
once upon a time, as in ESB, star wars addressed adult relationships and compelling dark characters. as well as special effects that didnt walk all over every scene. But now it is geared more towards kids and the stories being told often leaving you asking "why did they do that?" so death...probably not.  I think if it is going to thrive for adults  again the live action series has to do alot of damage control, heres hoping.
KOTOR has been the only really good story telling lately.

Re: Why do people think Star Wars is dead?

Star Wars is the second highest grossing(money making) film of all time in the US and its from 30 years ago. And adjusted for inflation Star Wars is the highest grossing film series of all time by far. it makes almost double what LOTR made when you adjust prices for inflation.

And their are millions of fans out their for Star Wars that wouldn't be put of by the new clone wars.

Clone Wars is thbe first officially BAD Star Wars movie, on RottenTomatoes.com they collect the views of hundreds of proffersional film critics and give it a score.
These are the scores of each Star Wars movie

A New Hope                95%
ESB                           97%
ROTJ                        75%
TPM                          64%
AOTC                        67%
ROTS                         80%
Clone Wars                 12%

And average rating for an avergae film is around 45-55% so Star Wars movies are clearly all quality, except for Clone Wars which i won't lie...got a terrible score.

So as you can see STar Wars has only been affected by Clone Wars but the TV or the live action show should redeem it.

At least one Universal Life Church congregation and two real independent churches based on the Jedi religion exist. The Temple's ministers may legally conduct marriages in the United States. So, it's not a major religion but...y'know...

SW won't be going anywhere for a LOOOOOOONG time, it's just that with the newer stuff, it's fanbase is becoming more and more divided.  You've got the old guard who love the old movies and hate the living guts of most of the new ones.  Then you got the kidies and some others who love the new ones and as the look back to discover the old ones aren't impressed with the aging graphics in comparison to what they just saw in theaters.

All this aside, there is infinate room in SW for fans of all types.  They might not like everything about SW, who does?  But there is something in SW that almost everyone loves, whether it be in the new films, the original trilogy, or perhaps only in the EU; but there will be fans of SW for a VERY long time................until everything dies  tongue

Re: Why do people think Star Wars is dead?

I like pretty much all of Star Wars(except the holiday special) and most fans like both trilgies.

Re: Why do people think Star Wars is dead?

Is it possible to love both era's of the SW realm? To fully like, love and enjoy both 1/2s of the saga? I might be the odd person out, that really does. Im still out on Clone Wars, though I'm going tonight. I've heard A LOT of different things about it. The death of SW? I don't think anytime soon. That will happen long after I am dead Im sure.

I do not know if it is dying or not but I must say I'm impressed with how long it has lasted-over 30 years.
