Topic: Roll Call

A few you have caught on to the fact that I am a military man.  There is a following of MANDOLORIANS in the US ARMY and I was wondering how many other JOES, SEAMEN, MARINES and yes even AIRMEN are out there?

Re: Roll Call

I wanted to go USMC.  Dropped out of college *was looking for a reason anyway  tongue* and spent 3 months getting ready.  Soon as I got on base, though, I caught some sort of bug.  Was in training for only 2 or 3 weeks when they sent me to the hospital......sever pneumonia...... no fun at all, I'm here to tell ya.

Spent another 3 months with the medical recovery platoon after I got done with my 12 day hospital stay, when they finally gave up on me.  Was showing no signs of recovery, so then sent me home.  I often wonder where I'd be if I'd made it....oh well

Re: Roll Call

I think joining the army is stupid. You get killed. I'm not calling you stupid, Viking1, but some people that do are.

( You are not stupid, btw. tongue smile Some people think it's cool. RD I'm not calling you stupid either. )

Re: Roll Call

Completely off topic btw, Green. Viking didn't ask for your opinion, he asked if anyone here was in the army and loved Mandos.

Personally, I might join if I was older.

ok, sorry. I was just saying it is a bit. But it's people's choices. smile

I won't join, unless I have to when I'm older.

Re: Roll Call

I just remembered that I'm immune to being drafted because I have a heart problem, so they wouldn't take me. But that also means I can't join if I wanted too....

Viking, I can't thank you enough for putting your life on the line for our country. Vode An, ner'vod!

Yes. It's very brave of you Viking1! big_smile

It's so amazing of your courage! smile

I would hate having to die in the war.

You're really into your country then! big_smile

Well Done! smile

Joining the army is not at all stupid.  Either you really mean it or it is just a POOR choice of words.  I have had family in the army and I am looking to join when I get older.  Yes it may be the Canadian military but I'm willing to put my life on the line to bring to those what they cannot achieve.

They only way they could possibly be semi correct are those that sign up thinking they are going to be cool and not realize what they are getting into.

Re: Roll Call

I might join the Army when I'm older. I think I'd make somewhat of a good soldier because if they shave my head, they better hope they get me to whatever country fast enough.

Green, risking your life so that others may be alive and free is stupid? That is a pretty disgusting way of thinking. Just because you value your life more than lives of others and freedom, doesn't mean thet that is the correct way of thinking.

take it easy baby take it as it comes

Green, to be a lieutenant or commander you have to join the army. If you join the military, it means you have uncommon courage, not stupidity. Millions of people from every country have died to defend it. Green, if America and Britain did not have an army during World War 2, where would the world be? We'd all be speaking German, that's where. And the marines did not draft. So are you calling the marines stupid? I hope not. I'm disappointed.

hi five for being unable to be drafted! my left foot is bigger than me right. but that means i can't join either if i wanted to... which i might consider the air force or the marines.

Re: Roll Call

My husband was in the Navy for a while. Then he got out on a purple heart. He has this huge scar about a 1/2 inch wide at it's widest section, and it runs from about the far side of the shoulder blade down under his arm to almost his chest. Got it in battle. ...well and he has a heart murmur so that helped them sending him away.

He's not really a big Fett fan though. But he does like Fett, if that counts.

Green. How dare you criticize the millitary. These are men and women who join the service willingly, knowing what could happen if their called to war. What you said is just disrespectful to them and disrespectful to those who have died for their country.

Viking, your service is greatly appreciated, its unfortunate that there are people who can be so disrespectful to you and your comrades.

I agree with everything that you say Adeptus. Those in the military are so brave.

Green. You really need to think before you post.

Re: Roll Call

Green, here's something I do to avoid situations like these. Sometimes I have a different idea than those who are posting in a certain thread. For example, you don't see me posting in evolution threads. Because I'm Christian, therefore my opinion is the minority in that particular thread. So if I went in there and said something like, "You're all idiots, evolution is dumb"*, I might get a reaction sorta similar to the one you're getting here. So what I do in situations like these is simply to shut up. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. It causes less problems.

*btw, not saying I would say that, just using it as an example.

Re: Roll Call

I'm gonna go ahead and tear everyone away from another one of green's blunders.

Yeah I've considered the military. But my father has always put my education and my future first. So after college then i might go in. I thought about the Marines but my aunt, whos a Major in the Air Force says that all her friends that went to the Marines turned into weirdos and that despite the dumb uniforms, Air Force is the way to go. I dont really know yet.

Re: Roll Call

Viking1, do they like, paint his Death Skull or his Insignia on stuff? Like on the sides of vehicles and weapons and stuff? Like AR Fett's rifle with the laser engraved Mythosaur skull.

I've seen where the crewmen write stuff on the bombs and rockets. I'd like to see a bomb with "NO DISINTIGRATIONS" or "WHAT IF HE DOESN'T SURVIVE?" scribbled on the side.

Cool topic, man.

Cool topic, man.

We actually borrow heavily from the comics and other popular cultural symbols.  The PUNISHER skull was all the rage for t-shirts and hats, and there has always been a STAR WARS following, a few of my buddies have a second set of “dog tags” with JEDI KNIGHT as their religion.

That is in good fun, but there was one guy I heard about, a little too much sun I think, who had a kid’s light saber on his gear and would use it to point to things with his IRAQI counterparts.  Of course, anytime we use the chemical lights, we have to have a light saber duel or dance like we are in a rave for a few seconds and then we regain our composure and go back to looking serious.

We did have various skulls painted on the trucks, but it was considered an OPERATIONAL SECURITY violation as they were able to ID which unit was which based off the specialized insignias.  Homemade patches have been forbidden as it is considered a violation of the GENEVA CONVENTION as there are no real MANDO units in the US ARMY.  Where we show our “fandom” is in the undershirts.

I plan on wearing some MANDO and FETT memorabilia next time over.

I do appreciate the support you have shown the men and women and various posts and in no way was it intended to turn into what it was, but that is the beauty of the open forum.

Re: Roll Call

Hey, Always liked the American army, wanted to join myself but ofc im british and they told me to get in touch with someone for a green card etc..etc.

But now im an officer in the british army, the para's. been in only 2 years. im only 18 too, so im one of the youngest officers the british army has seen as i did my A levels in high school.

Nice to see someone else from the forces here. starting to think i was the only one.

I've got an exercise with the yanks over this summer, im going for my American wings so doing a few jumps with your airborne and i love your kit more than ours. I think the L85 is a fantastic piece of kit and i know it like its a part of me but you know how it gets you wanna play with new toys haha. I love the M4 and the M82 fantastic sniper rifle. I've just passed my sniper course 2 months ago.

Just thought that with your Viking name that you would be in the royal anglians at first, there known as the vikins.

Just wanted to pass on that you have my support, i know some people look down on the yanks but not me.

I am the Hammer. I am the sword in His hand, I am the point of His spear. I am the Gauntlet about His fist. I am the Bane of His foes and the woes of the treacherous. I am the End.
