Topic: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

I put those two stickers in my computer book and seeing them side by side
Jango has a far better Outfit in fact he looks compared to Boba the Richer of the Family

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

But Boba has the battle worn aspect.  Or you could say it adds to the surprise you get when you see the battle-worn hobo snipe you in face.

LOL I also think that Boba has gone for that look so merchandise know that he's survived an awful lot - so don't mess with him!

Yeah.  I'd much rather have something a little worn around the edges than something so shiny and new like Jango.

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

its an interesting observation.
perhaps the contrast is that Jango is sort of a regal-polished stainless sort.
clean armor, living on the pristine city on kamino.

Boba an orphan- keeping scum as company. rolling w/ villains. its natural that he cares little about his battle worn armor-he basically lives out of his ship right? and yeah it looks more BA.

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

I think Jango was a bit of a showman too. Look at the display he does with the pistols. I think if someone did that in front of Boba he'd just shoot them - Indiana Jones style tongue

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

I like Jango's armour but I prefer Boba's. I love that it looks battered and battle worn and also that it has trophies attatched to show off previous victories.

That is a really good point Cujo big_smile

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

I don't think either of them has a perfect set of colors, though I like Boba's better.  Was a bit taken back when i saw Jango for the first time..........purple suit............but it grew on me.  Love Boba's battle worn look, though it might be just a tad overdone *battle worne is one thing; neglecting your armor is another; but it seems functional enough,* and he uses a really good green, and love the red visor and red gauntlets in RotJ.  My only beef with his armor was the shoes and the yellow on the shoulder bells

Never the less; would love to see those to walking down a street together; ready for anything.   With a squad of SuperCommandos backing them up   wink

You are exactly right.

Jango was a bit of a showman and it irks me that he spins his pistols in the movie and in the BOUNTY HUNTER game.  That little bit of showmanship is actually really poor weapons handling, something professionals just don't do.

Twirling pistols around, no doubt they have a hair trigger, is dangerous for the spinner and anyone around.  Think what would happen if a blaster went off.

Boba, the constant professional maintains his armor meticulously, so for him to maintain the "worn" appearance is intentional.  If he were to shine like a new penny it would announce his arrival, besides how hard would it be to blend in if you looked like C-3PO?

Just a thought

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

In my opinion Boba looks far better than Jango. Especially the 1 shoulder cape

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

I like Boba's armor more.

take it easy baby take it as it comes

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

What I like about Boba's armor is that is functional while JAngo seems more for show.  Sure both are lethal, but one got the perm a shave at the hand of a Jedi, while the other stacked Jedi up like cord wood outside.  I think Jango's garb was part of his gig for the Kaminos, they did like things crisp and clean afterall.

wait......what part of Jango's armor isn't functional?  I agree that the spit-n-polish look Jango has isn't as good as Boba's, but you compared two totally different things: their suit's functionallity with the person's skill in battle.

One, Jango had just abouty everything Boba had in the armor; maybe more, and it was all functional and Jango was fully versed in their uses

Two, if you're using the EU *which I'm sure you are since Boba sure as hell didn't stack up any dead Jedi 'like cord wood' in RotJ* then you need to add that Jando killed as many or more Jedi during his reign as Mandalore, and then in the movie fought Obi-Wan to a stand still, killed another Jedi, and stood up to Mace; Boba doesn't come close in the film history

But anyway, back on topic of looks/armor

I see the connection to and have to think Lucas gleened some inspiration from the Kamino set and added that 'look' to Jango when he created the character.  However, I don't think there's a connection between the character and the place as far as the story goes.  I'm not familiar with the EU, but from what I've heard Jango had been using his chosen style for some time before Dooku hired him, so there' isn't a storyline connection between his look and the place.  Might be wrong though

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

Jango's armour is in fact far from clean, the armour is in fact very dirty (take it from one who's recreated it). The helmet is chipped and dented and his flightsuit too is dirty (although not to Boba's extent). The reason Boba's looks dirty and more beat up is that his armour is painted whilst Jango's isn't. Jango's armour was taken from him when he was imprisoned a few years before TPM, the planetary ruler had it restored and polished to the colours you see now (the silver is the colour of the metal of the armour and helmets blue was added by the governor). When Jango escaped from the prison mines, he took back the armour and has used it that way ever since. (ALL of this is canon fact)

Prior to this Jango's armour was first greens and yellows (much like Boba's) and then when he became Mandalore, it was repainted gun-metal grey and red.

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

I most confess I am far from a JANGO buff, after all this is the BOBA page, so most of my observations are drawn form the films and someof the stuff that is mentioned in the BOUNTY HUNTER TRILOGY and the more recent TRAVISS stuff.

I will concede that JANGO had functional armor, he has all the same stuff as BOBA on the games and all, minus the rocket launcher, which is a fundamental difference.  BOBA is ready for a ship encounter, now JANGO did have the wrist rockets.

I still can't get away from JANGO's showmanship thing and am glad you are in a greement with me on that point.
Sure he fought OBI, and up and coming JEDI to a draw, but he went down fast with only getting MACE's ebony skin a little warm.  True, BOBA didn't get his JEDI stomp on in the films, but other than freezing HAN there wasn't much he did do.

When BOBA got the upgrade to the BESKAR armor, it was intentionally painted to look more worse for the wear as BOBA didn't want anyone to know he was wearing new and improved kit.  I believe that BOBA kept the vagabond look in large part to throw off his foes and give him a slight edge by them under estimating him.  BOBA seems a guy who shave inches anywhere he can to gain the mile advantage.

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

No offense Ner'vod, I'm just stickin' up for a brother Mando in Jango.  I think most of us agree that Boba is the superior character.  Both bad writing and lack of character development into our favorite Mandos is what held both of them back.  Both could have been a lot better; so I just like to stick up for which ever one is getting knocked down

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

Well said and well received.  I plan to polish up on JANGO, but BOBA and the CLONES as TRAVISS tells them is what rekindled my STAR WARS fandom.

I love the way they tell the soldier story.  I tell people you take out hyperdrives and lazers and you have a modern day army

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

Yup; KT is very good.  I just finished the first RepCom book and I loved the modern miliary talk, tactics, and meathods.  I don't agree with everything she's done, to Boba or the Clones; but she has my highest respect as the author who brought us Mando'a and has brought the spotlight to Mandos, the clones, and the connections between them

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

But there is ONE thing that bothers Bats
EEERR!! has to do with Jango's Helmet ???when you see Boba picking it up !!
Surely he didn't use that helmet ???
And I would love Boba Fett walking up my Hill flashing his Guns.

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

You'd wanna hope not. Besides I always expected there to be a rip off version where Jango's severed head falls out of the helmet... I'm sure it's only a matter of time tongue

Well I think that if the gun was completely out of bullets then a little show can't hurt.

People always talk about how good Boba is at killing Jedi when, ironically, he didn't do very good in the film history. He did do ok against Luke (compared to all the other henchmen) but yeah you;re absolutely right Boba doesn't come close. Oh and I wouldn't say Jango fought Obi Wan to a standstill, I'd say he just about won. You see if that platform (which HAPPENED to be where Obi Wan fell) hadn;t been there then Obi Wan would've drowned.

Yeah in Bounty Hunter he already had that color scheme, and I think the silver was chosen due to the fact tha Boba's armor showed silver underneath the green.

"Everyone has the right to be stupid, but you are abusing the privilege."

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

Jango's armour is silver purely because they made it and before they could paint it, George came into the room to look at the props and spotting the silver armour liked it and kept it that way.

As to Jango's head in the helmet, if you look closely following the scene in which he's decapitated, you can see the helmet fly through the air and the shadow of Jango's head flying out from it.

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

nice find, Orthar. i'll have to watch Attack of the Clones now to see that.

Re: Boba and Jango, Side-by-Side

I'm pretty sure I saw that to.  Always wondered why Jango didn't fall out of the helm, so watched really close to see if it came out before.  It's not clear, but yes, I think you can see it fly off in a different direction as the helmet gets chopped off

If you run, I can track you.  If you hide, I will find you.  If you fight, I will watch you fall......
