Topic: Journeyman Protector

Hey, I'm trying to find more information on existing theories about Journeyman Protectors but I'm not having any luck. I heard they mention in the Open Seasons comic with Jango Fett that his dad was a Journeyman Protector, but I haven't had the chance to read it yet. Has any source gone into any clear depth of what a Journeyman Protector actually is, what they do, and how they get the title?

I would assume that it's a person who protects journeymen....whoever they are.

I took the title as a sort of police (Protector) who travels all over (Journeyman).

Normally Journeyman is someone who knows a trade and is working under a master. Apprentice works for free to gain experience, then journeyman are paid workers who are still in learning stage, but are good enough to be paid. So I'd say its probably a skilled (but not masterful) protector of some sort. Like a Bodyuard to a higher up mabe.

Hm I always though Journeyman Protector was a rank in the mandalorian army.

Journeyman Protectors were not part of the Mandalorians. And I don't think Jango's dad was one. Jaster Mareel was one, though. I think they're a sort of police force.

I thought there was some reference to them in that story where Jaster Mereel (when he was pre-Boba - before the new movies) was being exiled. It was in one of the "Tales" books. But I can't remember which one. I don't think it went into a lot of detail though.

In Jango Fett open seasons his dad is indeed a journey man protector he says "im the journey man protector here im the law" so obviously some sort of police force. I also read somwhere else that they were the mandalorian version of police but i dont know if thats true.

i always thought they were the police for where jango grew up. because doesnt boba become 1  and then is exiled from the same planet?

I had thought there wasn't a whole lot of information. Excellent. I'm writing a fan fiction and I didn't want my story to be way off the actual thing. See, I read the Boba Fett kid series, and...was severely dissapointed. I'm afraid my version's a bit more gritty and ties in a few unexplained facts.

That was always my interpretation of them.  Police like guardians of Concord Dawn and/or the planetary system it's in. 

I heard that Concord Dawn was in the Mandalore system, meaning they're probably connected to the Mandalorians in some way if true, but that might have only been a rumor.

I don't buy that story.  Can anybody confirm any of that??  Until somebody does, I don't buy that the Jouneymen Protector's were directly Mandalorian.  That story there makes it sould like they're just a branch of the Mandalorian forces.  They may be related due to proximity  *though from what I've heard, it's not even confirmed that Concord Dawn is anywhere near Mandalore*  but I don't think they ARE Mando.

They should update that so they dont make it sound like he was killed. It really annoys me when sites dont update anything about Fetts sarlac adventure.

Concord Dawn was supposed to be a colony world, not inhabited entirely by Mandalorians, but they had a heavy presence on the planet.  That's why the True Mandalorians and Death Watch ended up there at some point fighting each other.  Remember, not all Mandalorians lived on Mandalore.  Mandalorians never "put all their eggs in one basket."  Strategically unwise.  That way, in case the homeworld ever got wiped out, the Mandalorians would still endure as a culture and society.

Concord Dawn was a farming community.  I thought this was appropriate, since the Mandalorian word for "Fett," which is "Vhett," is the Mandalorian word for farmer.  This is why the symbol on Fett's chest plate is believed to either be the Fett family crest or somehow related to the Journeyman Protectors of Concord Dawn, because of the wheat symbol that goes down the middle of the circle.  However, so far, they've never said what it means.  Par for the course, I guess.
