Re: Mando & Trooper fan art

Here's an update.  I went with the red coloring...

Looks even better with the red captain's paint! smile

Re: Mando & Trooper fan art

Is it possible you could give it the ARC Captain's pauldron and kama (if it fits)? Because then it would be Ordo.

Re: Mando & Trooper fan art

yeah it is good! I may be a good artist but that is one decent clone sharpshooter! smile

Re: Mando & Trooper fan art

Thanks guys! smile

Appo--I could put a pauldron on him, but his waist is the bottom of the page, so if I tried to draw in hints of a kama, not much of it would be seen...
A pauldron is a great idea.  I don't have one on a figure to go by, put I can look at pics, then go by what I can picture in my head.  The coloring is still very light, so it can still be erased very easily at this stage.

Okay, I'll probably answer my own question once I look up pics, but are the pauldrons traditionally on the left or right?  I'm thinking right...that's the way I picture it, but I could be mistaken.

The armor on his forearm was actually the hardest part to draw--getting the lines at the right angle.

Along the lines of my question up there...is there a list anywhere of what color goes with what rank?  It was mentioned the red was for Captain, and I know there are also yellow, green, and blue...that way I can name them appropriately if/when I draw more.

Re: Mando & Trooper fan art

Commander=Yellow
Captain=Red
Lieutenant=Blue
Sergeant=Green

Hope that helps.

Re: Mando & Trooper fan art

See, but now why is Cody orange? and Appo Blue? and so on... Maybe Commanders just choose whatever color they want hmm

Nice drawing! It must have taken a lot of patience using a action figure as a reference!

I believe that by Ep.III color has become associated with your battalion/regiment/whatever rather than rank, You'll notice that all of the 501st troopers who attack the temple with Anakin are blue.

That's correct.  The colors used in Episode III are regimental, in nature.  You'll also notice all of Commander Bly's squadron are collored in yellow, when they're blasting Aayla Secura on Felucia.  A lot of them are also wearing Kama's, even though they're not commander's, or are trained by ARC's.  All the Coruscant Security troops  and Commadner Thire are decked out in red.

Re: Mando & Trooper fan art

Well--action figures stay still very well LOL big_smile

Here's one I plan on sending to Insider (cross fingers) for Bantha Tracks...

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e144/starwars79/slave130.jpg

I had the idea of a father/son theme for a Star Wars 30th pic, so I drew Slave I split with both Boba and Jango's color schemes.  I'm going to send this in another envelope because a stamp would cover it up too much.  The helmets are not exact, but it has an overall cartoon-ish look to it, so it works, I guess.

Yeah, I would agree with the colors representing the regiments more instead of ranks thinking back to the movies.

Only the Phase I armor was color coded by rank. In ROTS, the Clones used Phase II armor.

Re: Mando & Trooper fan art

Thanks Villimar smile

(Was the Phase I armor the type featured in the Clone Wars cartoons?)

Yes, I believe it was. And the pauldron is on the right arm. (I think)

Re: Mando & Trooper fan art

Thank you very much big_smile  I sent that envelope pic today.

I might get to it tomorrow--I had a LONG work day.

(I just looked at a Commander Appo figure at the store, and his pauldron is on the left...so I've seen it both ways...I'll just pick a side tongue  But it most likely will be his right anyway since that shoulder is completely in the picture. )
