Topic: Lucas v's Boba Fett

I have a feeling George didn't really have a role for Boba just a small part as a bounty Hunter
but how he was picked out by the Fans,,did set him a back a bit !!,,and put him as big Villian
and then KILLED him off ,,as I was bit disapointed when it showed Boba's childhood  I really thought
in the next show we''ll see more of Boba growing into his part ,,just faded him out in the saga.

Yeah I kinda get the impression that Lucas doesn't like Boba.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't, but i appreciate him including Fett in the prequels. Without the prequels, Boba wouldn't be as important to the story.

Re: Lucas v's Boba Fett

I still hold that GL does not dislike Boba. I mean he didn't have to include Boba and Jango in the prequals. Also, just because he killed him off, doesn't mean he hated him, a lot of people die in star wars.

And the greatest reason i believe he actually likes Boba, is that he gets paid when his books sell. Even if he is doing absolutely nothing to progress them.

Perhaps he felt obligated to include Boba Fett because part of his success is thanks to him.

Re: Lucas v's Boba Fett

boba was just a minor villain who happened to look really cool.  in the ot, there really wasn't anything that spectacular about him (other than the costume) to seperate him from characters like boshek, or biggs darklighter, or wedge antilles.  boba really wan't essential to the story, any of the bounty hunters on the executor might have known han solo, and been able to track them to bespin, boba was the one written to do it, and he looked cool to boot.  with any phenomenon on the scale of star wars, you're going to find incredibly rabid fans of every non-essential character.  just ask those dissapointed fans of tom bombadil.

Tom who?

Re: Lucas v's Boba Fett

maybe,  Boba was veiwed as an expendable character who merly gets han solo from point A to pointB, and then when the fans got into this whole cult bit, lucas beleived he owed it to them to put more of boba and jango in, but didn't want to make their parts so powerfulthat it upstaged the real message of the prequals

I believe he is referring to the minor character in The Lord of the Rings. He became pretty popular, and was given his own story. But Jackson decided to omit his part in the Trilogy because he decided he played too small of a role.

That is what I believe.  HE doesn't really hate him or like him but he gets him the money.

And for the record, After I  watched LOTR Fellowship, missing Tom was like the hugest disappointment in that movie.  It means we could have had barrow-wights as well.  Sorry this belongs in a totally different board. tongue

I found his cut from the movie sad too.

Nah, I disagree.

In the commentary for Episode V and VI George Lucas said..

"Alot of people like him (Boba Fett) becouse hes powerful and mysterious."

"He has such a powerful presence for having only a limited role. Now that his history has been established in Episode 2 his death is even more of a mistep."

(paraphrasing) 'I had contemplated adding a scene of Boba Fett crawling out of the Sarlacc but then I thought it would of taken the audiance out of the movie. Most people dont believe he died anyways. laughs'

Re: Lucas v's Boba Fett

He said that to appese the fans.

take it easy baby take it as it comes

Well if you're going to say something like that about him whenever he praises Boba, it is impossible for him to have a chance. Just because he may not think Boba is the best character doesn't mean he says good things "just to appease the fans." Actually, does Lucas do anything to appease his fans? Jar Jar and Hayden Christiansen are proof of that.
