Topic: IG - 88's history and demise

I've heard that Ig - 88  makes plans and builds a power core with his internal systems in, and has it put in the death star .2 so when they save the world from the deathstar, they also save the world from IG - 88

True that i in tales of the Bounty Hunters.  Just before the battle of Endor when all of its weapon sys. were online he as planing to drop the life support and kill all the humans on board but that never happened.

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

i think that wasn't a very good way for ig - 88 to go

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

Yah Fett got the other three one on Cloud City and the other two above Tattoine. The other thing is that IG-88 would have had a short life expectancy anyway if he hadn't gone in the central core then his dismantle on sight would still stand and other bounty hunters and even low life's like the Hutts would have taken credits from the Empire if the price were right.  Like the idea that if IG-88 had captured Solo then Vader would have dismantled the droid rather than pay for services rendered.

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

wer'nt there other IG models?

there are no star systems slave 1 can't reach, and there's no planet I can't find. There's nowhere in the galaxy for you to run. Might as well give up now.    -Boba Fett

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

IG-88 is a set of five identical robots which massacred their constructors.

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

For anyone who doesn't know, 3 were killed by the fettman, and the other one, the original, died as the death star.  However, his reprogrammed shell is alive and well, as shown in young jedi knights.

later on, in "children of the jedi" they find ig-88A's body and program it to be a body guard droid.

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

IG-72 didn't go with the other IG's ( IG-88, IG-88A, IG-88B and IG-88C ) i've read the tales of the bounty hunters book.

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

I read tales of the bounty hunters, it's my favorite book. I didn't know the clone wars cartoons were non canon. are they really?

IG-88 was the deathstar for about an 5 minuets (longer?) He had orchestrated a droid uprising, which had the potential to give him control of the galaxy. Moments before he sent the signal however, the deathstar was destroyed.

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

ig-88 is essentially the best bounty hunter ever except for boba fett. he has concussion grenade launchers, poison darts, a blaster, and of course an extremely fast computer brain. taking a second to think about anything is long for him. couple that with his sentience and logic, you have someone unbeatable, unless its boba fett.

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

didnt Dash Rendar take down one of the IG units in a trash yard, or was that just a scenario for the video game?

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

That was in Shadows of the Empire (the game) not sure which IG-88 model that was supposed to be.

To shoot or not to shoot, that is the question.

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

Well, IG-88a led the takeover operation of Mechis 3, IG-88b was the bounty hunter, killed by Fett, IG-88c I think was also killed by Fett, so it must have been IG-88d.

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

Yes, I have also read about IG-88 becoming the Death Star from the Tales of the Bounty Hunters as well. I was wondering if this was canon, as it COULD run into other possiblities of stories including IG-88. For instance.........The Bounty Hunter Wars.
IG-88 was present the entire time with the team, Boba Fett stirred up. This was at the time AFTER A New Hope..........when the Death Star was destroyed.......and as we all know, no remaining IG-88s survived the encounter with Boba Fett delivering Han Solo.
So which story is canon.......and which is truth? IG-88 couldnt POSSIBLY be present during the Bount Hunter Wars if he was destroyed along with the Death Star!! SO which is lie, and which is truth?

Re: IG - 88's history and demise

I'm sure they somehow Retconned it.  Keep in mind IG-88 had many bodies and could have somehow activated one of the dormant bodies.
