Cloning won't be the next revolution. And science wouldn't like it anyway. It's not the next jump. They're more interested in robotics at the moment. Usage is higher, after all. Both medical science and NASA each have a big piece of it.

And besides, even if cloning does end up being huge it wouldn't matter anyway. Humanity is looking for a place to pop, I can't say anything we do amounts to anything. But that's overstating the situation, diseases still have a stronger hold than most people are lead to believe. Hundreds of thousands of people die every day, looking at it that way population doesn't matter.

More to the point, I can't imagine it's as bad as everyone thinks. For every solution in life there lies a slew of problems waiting at the door. It one big mistake triggers the ending of humanity then it'll just start over again. Until everything goes out in one massive ball of fire. Starts over.

In that sense, it's stressing the situation. Because just along the corner lies another sentient creature ready to make the next big leap. Time is an intricate spider web. Not to say you could easily go back and forwards on it, but the damnable pattern manages to continue repeating itself. Slowly spun inwardly till it's done and then starts over again.

Human inovation created computers, inovation can do something just as great all over again. One problem becomes one answer and then another problem, then another answer. That's what seperates us from the Lions, and Tigers, and Bears. They're born, they live, they die. Humanity is the crowning achievement of this earth because we can't live with just doing that.

If humans didn't exist the earth would find some way to screw itself up without our help.

Cloning fascinates me in some ways, mainly for fictional purposes but I must say I don't think it should be done.

People say it's ways to grow new body parts for the disabled and dieseased etc, but people are living long enough as it is. The human population is already too high to be sustained, cloning will only increase humanities needs not natures. I think there is a natural balance and to clone things brakes that balance. I know I sound rather harsh.

But think about it, developed nations rely heavily on computers, when the computers go down everything stops. If we relied entirely on cloned food and something went wrong, we'd be seriously screwed.

I think cloning has the excact same problem as every other technological advancement ever.

Some people will use it for good purposes, other will use it for "evil" purposes. Starting with any weapon ever created, they could be used only as protection against people who would attack you, but thats not going to happen as some people will always use them for attacks.

How about the new audio technology created. Yay for ipods and mp3 players, also new hearing aids for the deaf. But we also created a sonic device that can create sound blasts so loud you can knock out, deafen, and injure people targeted. This is just the beginning.

Cloning is the same way, its great we can create new organs and limbs. Others will use the llama genes to create a defence against biological weapons... and some may splice humans with said llamas.

It's all ridiculously vague.

It's playing god if you make a new species? We've been doing that with plants for some time now.
